    Love your tutorials, and keep up the great work, and sharing knowledge. Can you do a video using the new Roland Fantom & Akai’s MPC-X?

    Once you window-select (Shift+drag diagonal corners) around your notes, hold down Copy, click once with an arrow, and release Copy. Now you are moving just your copy with the arrows.

    Hello guys ! Really nice work ! This function is awesome ! I can't believe the Fantom is able to play several parts of the J-Xm at the same time !!! Amazing !

    Is there a way to have an external device play a pattern while another external device is being controlled separately because when I put down a layer for the song I would like to control over another synthesizer but both synthesizers play at the same time and when I switch to internal to turn off 1 so I can solely play the other my pattern that I created with the other synthesizer no longer plays the sound of the synthesizer and plays internally I would like to just control over one and have the other still play but not play from the keyboard.

    Hey Ed - love all the tutorials!! Thanks! Quick question please - I am VERY new to my Fantom 8 - Q: can I play it controlled by an external MIDI controller - just want to play it with a lighter keyed. Many thanks Pete :-)

    the Fantom has three USB ports on the back so the Big Question is do the USB ports power up other devices or let other keyboards send midi signals thru the fantom with usb because My Daw FL Studio shows that the fantom is ready to be played but my MODX doesn’t show up but it’s plugged in the fantom with USB & so is my Seaboard & Maschine Jam. I dont have this issue with my MPC X but it only has two USB ports🤦🏾‍♂️ please I need help/Answers. I love the Fantom by the way...

    Ed, this is unrelated to this episode. But I can't understand why Roland has poor communication related to functionality of the Audio Inputs. I had to find this this info from a obscure TH-cam video. This was about a year after I purchased this. Seems a better programming design would be to use an alias in the mixer page that redirects you to the Effect Edit screen.

    Thanks for this. How can I control (play) selected zones from an external keyboard? So say I have 5 zones making up a scene but want to control zone 3 only to sound when triggered by keys on external keyboard not from the fantom?

    FYI if you just highlight all notes while holding shift and just add bars with the dial under length while still holding shift no need to paste it does it automatically, no need to paste or drag the notes.

    Thanks Ed and Scott. These vids are so helpful, I have a question about MainStage and specifically sending program change data to MainStage with VSTs. I'm using the Korg M1 legacy collection VST within MainStage. I'm a bit confused as to whether MSB/LSB numbers need to refer to the Programs/presets within the VST or whether they need to apply to the created patches in MainStage. Hope the question makes sense and that you may be able to cover it in a future Synth Talk. Many thanks from across the pond

    Hey, i think i got the solution for the copy and paste problem at the piano roll. you have to select the notes like ed did it. (shift and draw over the notes, multiselecting) or for one single note just tap on it. than hold the knop under copy .meanwhile move the notes with the coursorbuttons.
    so fast and easy. even more as with the mouse. The same works with the move option. depends if you want only move the notes or copy. hope this helps. cheers

    Hi! How can I play the Fantom using an external midi keyboard, such as the Arturia Keystep Pro, via MIDI? I have my keystep connected do my motu midi express on port 8 IN and have port 3 OUT connected to my Fantom’s midi IN. On ClockWorks I routed Port 8 IN to Port 3 OUT, expecting to be able to play something on keystep and hear the sounds of the Fantom. There are no mutings of any kind on ClockWorks. I can’t hear anything from the Fantom while playing notes on keystep. The exact same settings work fine if I replace the Fantom with another synth, which makes me believe that I’m missing something on the Fantom settings. Do you know what could it be? Thanks!

    Ed Diaz, I have the Integra-7 and Fantom 8, is it possible for you to do just a general video of how these two instruments work together? Emphasis on editing the Integra using the Fantom...
    thanks in advance

    Hi ED and everyone else here. I've been searching for a keyboard stand for a while now, on which I can place 2 synths with 76 keys and a small one above but to the left, as shown in this video. Specifically on the left side because I play the small synth with my left hand. It's intended for use during live performances. I believe I may have come closer to the solution in this video. Can anyone help me out?

    It would be nice if there was mouse support if that’s possible to help with all the note selection stuff that is so hard with touchscreen

    Great video! Does the Fantom have any play along features like the I-Arpeggio on the Jupiter x/m or karma on the korg Kronos? I know it has some drum patterns but I was hoping it could fill in bass for me too like on both synths mentioned above. Just curious! Thank you. I almost want to sell half my synths and my akai and just downsize into a Fantom since it has pretty much everything in one place

    Hey guys I just updated my XM. Didn't even know there was a new update feel stupid lol had'nt done an update since 1.02 I think.
    I had a question about this- what exactly does this change in the update, or, how can I apply this in like an IOS app scenario?
    A setting function (USB Audio Thru) for mixing USB Audio In with USB Audio Output has been added.
    ( SYSTEM > GENERAL USB Audio Thru )
    A setting function (AUXIN USB Thru) for mixing AUX IN or Bluetooth into USB Audio Output has been added.
    ( SYSTEM > GENERAL AUXIN USB Thru )

    Guys, found strange glitch on my Fantom 8. When turning any of the L/R turning knobs on the left side of the keyboard and turning the Effects knob on the right side on the keyboard same time... My Fanton just going down... completely.... Can you try same on yours?

    Roland Fantom MIDI set up in Ableton. Houston Singletary. C'mon Roland, dig into those deep pockets and get some Ableton experts on the channel. You keep on mentioning this guy so cut the foreplay and get into action :)

    Any way to change patterns in a TR-8S from Fantom?

    • @EdDiazKeys
      @EdDiazKeys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There might be if were to use midi between both units. I'm thinking that you could change the drumkits of the TR-8S, but I'm not so sure of the patterns. I currently do not have a TR-8S to test.

    • @rmdoHiFi
      @rmdoHiFi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EdDiazKeys Thanks, Ed. Right now I'm limited to laying out the TR patterns in order and just controlling tempo and start/stop with Fantom (with bass and synth in Fantom). I also learned how to create a CC in the Fantom microscope. But I can't figure out how to change program changes (the only way I can see in TR to change patterns) with the patterns in Fantom.

      @@EdDiazKeys That was simple😄Thank you so much. I’m extremely excited about the Fantom and was thinking about using it as a controler for external synths into Logic as well as using the internal sound. Already have Jupiter X.

    Shouldn’t be this hard haha. Can’t Roland just let us extend a track. Like the verselab or 101. “Double”. Or copy then use the arrows to precisely paste. Roland made this too hard especially for a workstation. We need to be able to do this basic thing

    can you implement a better support system too? your manuals are a joke, the support never replies. I do regret buying the fantom now
