The very best part of this video is your discussion of loading the REEKO STAR from PUDJE. I am a CFII and have a list of six "GPS Tasks Pilots Don't Know How to Do." Understanding that certain tasks require you to load a fix behind when you expect to go is one of them. It not only comes up in SIDs and STARs but also with somehing as a clearance with vectors to intercept an airway.
As an airplane owner, I’m 1000 X more aware of how ridiculously expensive everything is aviation. That said, ForeFlight has to be one of the greatest and cheapest things you can pay for as a pilot. The value it brings it’s worth 10 times what you pay for it. Someone once pointed out that if you truly purchased paper sectionals when you’re supposed to, that covers more than half of ForeFlight cost!
Really great video. I’m an instrument student with a checkride October 31st. Watching your videos reminds me why instrument flying is so exciting when i’m getting tired of ground studying! Your videos are super helpful, just watching you can really teach a lot.

Not sure if you do this or not, but you can also send your flight plan to Plates. Then all your departure and destination plates (SIDs, STARs, approaches) are there easily accessed. I didn’t know that in my early beginning of foreflight. Someone showed me that about a year later after I was using it.
One caution about using IFR Routes in ForeFlight and flying VFR with Flight Following and NOT IFR Flight Plan: Remember that IFR may take you through a Class C or B airspace because you are on an IFR flight plan, if you are flying VFR and doing flight following, you can ask ATC to clear you through that airspace, but just know they may not - fly above or below and plan that!
Could delete that fix as well. We have a an arrival at my home airport that has a choice between two fixes, I file to an intermediate fix and delete the initial. Great video, like the tips and tricks. Love ForeFlight.
These are published routes that organize the traffic flow into and out of busy airspace. These are used when flying on an IFR flight plan and will not be used when you are flying VFR.

Looks like Epic Aircraft is using your TCO static dischargers, I was just in Bend, OR a couple weeks back to participate in a factory tour they were offering and it was .... epic 🤣, really cool to see! As the CEO said, planes come into the factory as fabric (I asked, the engines, too 🤣) and they leave as completed aircraft. Is Aeromach growing? I just perused the careers tab but didn't see anything.

@@boogerwood 100%, we had the nation wide subscription for paper and in year two we saved money. That includes the iPad and ram mount.

I am a foreflight user but I had never seen the Celling function. I just got my IFR check ride sign off and I will be using this function from now on.

There's no way I fly without my iPad (with ForeFlight) and my Sentry. MIA airspace is too congested to fly without traffic info.

I hate Apple, so I'm against using Foreflight because they are exclusively on iPad.
I understand that. Have you looked into Garmin's Plane Sync? I am not sure if it is Android compatible or not.
