Interesting review. I took both airlines recently (around three weeks ago) as well and had a completely different experience. Had an announcement and greeting from the pilot on both airlines and my seat on Bamboo, while more comfortable, was falling apart (seat cushion ripped off and the seat back infront of me was completely ripped to the point where I couldn't store anything). All told I found both to be perfectly good flights with decent service for the short duration domestic flights I took. Would be interested to try Vietnam Airlines international flights.
Just a thought. I wonder given the dodgy weather en route, if the pilots were concentrating on the flight conditions and sort of dismissed the traditional announcement? I would rather not hear from the flight deck if it meant greater safety. That said the plane was a substitute and perhaps these last minute changes account for the flaws you noted. Am I being too kind?
That could have been the first 787 they put into service! I realize you can't tell us the cost of the flights but THAT would certainly always help to evaluate comparisons. Well on to the next adventure. Where to next? Thanks , Jim
Not hearing from the flight deck is a plus to me. The cabin crew do plenty of talking as it is past the safety briefing when they do those sales pitches for their airlines credit card. I did 3 flights in one day from JFK to the Caribbean via Orlando/Miami. Same long-winded sales pitch from two different airlines.
Interesting perspective. Of course no one wants the credit card pitches. But you don't like to hear a few words from the people in charge of your aircraft?
My domestic flight with VNA in Business Class still have hot tower close to descent point. In your flight I saw you didn’t have it? I also saw that all bad things occurred in your flight at the same time, poor you? My flight with VNA gone so well, the service was oke not like what you were filming.
One time, I'm flying bamboo airways from SGN to SYD, It takes 40 Minutes for my turn to check In, then I look aside and saw Vietnam Airlines with less people. And also one time from SYD,MEL to SGN, It also take 30 minutes for my turn to check In. Vietnam Airlines Use A350 To Australia and VNA A350 IS Not comforable so the next time I fly to Australia I'll fly with Jetstar. And Bamboo Airways flight from MEL TO SGN Is one of the worst Food I have ever tried. Any Domestic and Internation flights will never fly Bamboo Airways AGAIN! I think I rather fly Vietjet Air than Bamboo Airways
hello everyone ! I'm from Vietnam, I think it would be better if you go to the A350 XWB or Boeing 787-10 because it will be newer. We hope you can make many other flights of Vietnam Airlines. Thanks for the flight
VNA has a nice corporate design, lovely livery and interior cabin (Bamboo logo is just ugly). However, I find cabin crew of Bamboo provides the better onboard service - they are friendlier and more professional.
Lovely. Servicewise, VNA is just mediocre, plus they add up quite a bit of price due to "free diplomatic ticket", plus their staff is purely government-style which I don't really expect from. However, the trip that I was most impressed was CDG-HAN long time ago on the A350. Cabin crew was 100% great. On domestic flights, you lucky to have ones like that.
flew them long haul from LHR - SGN and they were much better than this... maybe just coz its a short haul and used much more than the long haul planes?! trying out Bamboo from LGW-SGN next week.. but then I am just a normal flyer and not a critic...
VN Airlines as a whole is a hot mess. The pilots don’t even bother making announcements and that’s just laziness. Also don’t take other comments defending the airlines seriously, they’re most likely paid to do so, or just airlines employees
Vietnam airlines is getting worse, the quality is descending and the prices are getting too high. The service is poor and getting worse . I was flying a lot with Vietnam airlines until I notice, service, quality and price got very bad. … bambooo is much better
Such gorgeous scenery. Thanks again.

I used VNA for international 12 hours flight and I could say only good and very good things about airline
Disappointing flight on such a beautiful livery. Thanks for the informative comparison!

Hi was just in the app. Where is Vieux Fort?

Oh yeah, Bamboo Airways Turbulence is very shaky

vietnam airlines 787 is more comfortable than bamboo 787 but bamboo 787 is better than VNA A350
Well you need to go by bamboo airways from Ho chi minh city to sydney you will be shocked,
Vietnam airlines is less shaking
Nice

Bamboo and VNA both use the 787 and A350 for their short domestic route, so these widebodies are seeing the usage of a narrow body city hopper
Good day every one!
