- This is the 2022 Yamaha R1, MotoGP 60th Anniversary Edition. What is so good about the R1 and this special edition?
First all the technical specifications:
It is a 998cc inline 4 liquid cooled engine with 16 valves and DOHC that delivers 197 bhp at 13500rpm and 112Nm 82 lbft of torque at 11500 rpm.
It is a 6 speed gear box which is mated to an assist and slipper clutch to ensure driver confidence to heavy downshift at corners. You also get a clutchless quick shifter for both up and down shifting.
A good launch can give you a 0-100 in 2,8 seconds and you get a stock engine top speed of 300kmph or 186mph which is at par with most superbikes.
The R1 weighs in at 203 kilos wet or 448lbs. That is one of the lightest superbikes in this price category.
The US price of the regular 2022 R1 is $17599 and the 60 anniversary GP edition costs $18099. Is the GP Anniversary edition worth it? I would say, the bike is amazing. And with $500 extra, you are getting the unique World GP anniversary edition styling with golden forks, gold rims, gold Yamaha tuning fork emblems, it looks stylish and stands apart. You will love it!

@@ja31472 Wow! That is some serious information. Thanks for your input!
I like the the fact that you show how you sit on the machine I’m vertically challenged too so I can take reference from you when I choose to upgrade
The Yamaha R1 has always been the bike many of us dreamt of when we were teens. I remember the one I fell in love with was the 5th gen of which I had a desktop wallpaper for many years.
All that technology in an in-line 4 that weighs just 3 kilos more than my single cylinder Himalayan 🤣
Now that, is something.
Lol! That is funny. 3 kilos more than the Himalayan! Epic!
And you will not believe it... we got a pre-owned Himalayan at the dealership. It stood for less than 48 hours before getting sold. This particular R1 stood in the rows for nearly a month!
@@KrishnenduKes Maybe you can do a video on how the motorcycling scene is different in the US when compared to India, how easy/difficult it is to get a licence, is there a separate category of licence for superbikes, et al. I'm sure that would be quite interesting and informative.
And speaking of weight, my guess is that weight doesn't matter as much as how it is distributed. My Classic feels front-heavy, my Himalayan feels much more centered in comparison, and I am sure the R1 would feel much more agile and nimble and planted thanks to its engineering and suspension geometry.
@@anirbannandi13 You cannot really compare the Himalayan to the R1 in terms of handling since the purpose is very different. The Himalayan handles more like the DRZ 650S from Suzuki. And the Classic would be more like the Bonnie from Triumph with lesser power.
As for the motorcycling scene in America, it is very different from India. Kids start dirt biking at the age of 5. Racing is a big thing here. You have Flat Track racing with Royal Enfield. There is a lot happening. I am not sure if I will be able to do justice to the massive motorcycling culture in this country.
Opened up a new world of riding experience ❤
The R1 is iconic!
That was a lot of great info. This was like a top gear episode.
😂😂 You are the best!
@@KrishnenduKes I cant argue with that
@@AdventuresThings 😂😂🤣🤣
Love that paint scheme and styling.
You bet. You need to buy one of these!
Yes it does brother! Great Video!! Yaaaaaaamaaaahaaaaaa!!!!!!🤩🇺🇸👍
Thanks mate! Lol!
Ducati is great too but my budget won't allow me lol 😆 but my 2016 r1 is as lovely as a Ducati too. I don't care how uncomfortable it is, when I'm on it hitting twisty, I'm alive!
The R1 is fantastic!
How did that get damaged on the left like that? Is it yours?
Good eye! Not it was not mine. Belonged to the dealership where I work. This was crate damage. It was taken care of before selling it.
These latest R1's are so uncomfortable. I know it got to be hurting their sales. They are the best looking 1000cc bike.
That's kinda right!
Na, hit the gymn, do some squats. It's not uncomfortable for me
@@LeeTillbury Which year do you have?
@@LeeTillbury Actually i'm pretty fit. I guess it's going to come down to preference and possibly even height!
@@KrishnenduKes Hi I had a 04 5vy and now I have a 2018 2cr. Both awesome 👍🏻
Just bought mine today. I can't wait to pick it up. Iam going to put an arrow evo exhaust and rotobox rims on it. One3motoshop made a video on it and Iam going to make mine a clone of that bike.
Great choice mate! This is an amazing motorcycle and the way it looks, it is simply amazing. Congratulations and enjoy!
Bikes are fun, but dangerous and uncomfortable in crap weather - stick to cars.
40years of motorcycle riding. Not going to stop now!
