My parents bought the Magnavox in 1960, my pop was a member of Columbia house and received this album and other greats. The Album and the stereo still exists to this day and also works. Reminds me of them. RIP mom and dad at Fort. Sam
First heard Manana on Seinfeld but I really like the groove, and have been listening to this album ever since. I like rock and guitar based music, but nothing beats this for relaxing groove....especially with a drink! Jackie's playing on the Hammond is timeless!!
To me the best part of the Hammond organ's sound is it's fullness, which Jackie's block chordal style takes advantage of. Jazz snobs turn up their nose at it, but I like it best. THANKS for posting this whole LP for us to enjoy!
@cindykrista I probably have one of those organs your dad made. I've got 2. Ones a 1959, the other 1961. Love em both. Yes it's too bad what happened to the company and all of the equipment. Very few young people learn to play an instrument now
You are absolutely correct! I love to play my Hammond B-3 and keyboards with those full chords in Jazz and all styles of music, because it is such a fool sound. Nothing else like it!! I do this all the time in the three bands I perform in.
I love this stuff! This was definitely produced in the nascent days of stereo recordings. Ridiculously wide stereo separation. Kind of like those "stereophonic demo" records that came out (ping pong matches, mid lane in a bowling alley, etc). The music is great though.
my parents bought a hammond organ in the late 70's , they used it a couple times and then it sat for years just like a piece of furniture, as a teenager i would play with the built in percussion sounds, those were cool, i ended up giving to this guy that repaired organs keyboards and synths.
Hammond Organs are HORSESHIT!! Wannabe theater organs, in a smaller size. If this isn't nightmare fuel, I don't know what is. Too much emotion and talent involved. The Leslie makes it 100x worse. Both dudes behind the "sound" loved opera and serious, classical music.

Incredible sound for a vinyl record from 1959! They ain't joking about that full dimensional stereo.
