One surprise budget hit was Krenko, Mob Boss from CMM at $0.79 USD. Bought it, threw together a deck with it the night before a cEDH tournament, and piloted the deck to a second place finish.
@@michaelcollins4534 Especially if you have multiple decks and need multiple Sol Rings, that discount adds up in bulk. I'm tempted to buy a few, since I have a bunch of decks now, but since I can't really justify buying more precons lately (and not all of them have had Sol Ring anymore either), I still end up with a couple decks having to forego one of the biggest staples for all decks.
I am not a big removal guy. I live with the philosophy that rather than putting in removal I would rather put things my opponents have to remove. Having said that, I really enjoy the philosophy most colored removal works with. White either sends them away or ‘helps’ them out of being a threat. Blue denies the very concept of the threat, erasing them before they hit the battlefield or making them un-hit the battlefield later. Black just makes them have a heart attack or meet with an unfortunate accident. Red sets them on fire. And of course green just uses overwhelming violence.
I would disagree that this has much to do with power creep. Nothing is touching sol ring in terms of pure value. And realistically there's only 1 better removal spell in the format than swords and path, namely deadly rollick. Some decks can run dispatch as a better swords/path but you still have to have metalcraft for it to work. Counterspell is still the best counterspell for your money. 2 blue, counter anything, $1, ez. There are a ton of really good counterspells out there and a lot of them are pretty cheap, but most are restricted in what they can counter or have a pretty hefty downside. Generous gift is still the best rate to destroy any permanent. That's why red has its version in chaos warp and green has its version in beast within. Darksteel mutation is still the single best way (outside of maybe imprisoned in the moon) to remove someone's access to their commander. These are powerhouse cards. The field is starting to catch up to some of them but they're still the best of the best.
Hi what do you thing about Hylda of the icy crown as commander. I think shes very good. you can build a defense deck with tapping oppents creatures and make your own army of flyers.
This is just a sign of how much damage the company has done the market value of the game. If you dobt care about the money side then its great news. I dont sell so im impartial.
Overprint cards so there's more of them, tank the value of longtime players collections, piss off more players so they quit the game and sell their collections. Now you have a ton of old and new versions on the market to the point that big vendors won't pay money for cards, so now there's a flood of copies on the market with very little demand. So you get cheap cards.
WotC should just get rid of the reserve list for commander. Cards should be accessible and only collectors should care about old prints of certain cards.
Isn't it wild how wotc lost good will so fast and now all of their most relevant staples in their most popular format are tanked these sre strange times( I love to see affordable cards tho;])
I play MTG every Friday and in 6 months of a constant shift of players ive only met 1x player who used a budget deck in commander 🙄 even then he was complaining because he forgot his Sauron pl9 deck and borrowed that off of the shop owner as a lend deck for learners but it was his replacement. I've played decks that cost apparently £180 abd it's a powet lv.7 that does really well and then pl9s costing 1200 sometimes perform awfully so does it matter playing on a budget 😂 who the fuck plays on a budget in mtg! This is a more wxpensive game that Digimon, yugioh and pokemon combined 🧐 you've got formats like pioneer ffs and modern!!! And don't tell me yall play on a budget because you must get your azz tutored rverytime 👍🤣
You forgot path to exile's alt function of reading sacrifice a creature to search up a land. Black would be so proud
Ok Richard
I remember one time my opponent tried to Exile my board while I was swinging out, so I dropped Settle the wreckage and got lands for them instead

Path to exile was $10 at my local game store when i started playing commander 3 months ago. Now less than a 1 dollar awesome.
They were ripping you off. I've seen that card around a dollar for awhile
Black lotus was $250 when I started playing magic and I traded one for a few ps1 games
I was able to pick up a foil full art magicfest promo of path to exile for $5. It looks very good in my angel deck now
Crop rotation is very very good for Kodama of the East land combos
This is a great video. Surprisingly some great affordable cards for us financially challenged folks.
Im glad the budget players are saving 12 cents on Sol ring
Depending on how crazy low the budget is this could actually be impactful.

Glad to see you back in the studio!

Thanks for the list. Definitely going to pick up some path to exile and swords to plowshares
Thank you for all your help
The foil retro Swords To Plowshares is quite surprisingly expensive. $10 here offers are quite common.
Crop Rotation: The Glacial Chasm tutor.
Buying commander precons since 2018. I got something like 54 sol rings. Anyone wanna buy a sol ring?
You going to MagicCon Las Vegas?
These are some decent prices for these cards. Thank you for the video.
Hi. I found this phone in the stretch on Otterbien Ave.
Every time some channel makes a video like this the prices go up as they speak 😭 for the love of our wallets stop
I attribute the affordability of these cards to EDH power creep, as well as reprinting

So now you’re saying we can get a budget light paws deck?
i wanna see gogo bandit warlord on this list. just got mine for 30 cents
Huge cards have always been budget because they can't fit in a deck.(oversized cards)
Instead getting these cards, use proxies. They are a lot cheaper.
And just like that it's expensive again 😅 comander quarters must own a stack of them
I think progress hit 15usd at one point
If they would ban it if they could start over I don’t think they would reprint them
mitch we need to bring back the group playing jank budget decks that was fun or least bring back some new lose your friends for 15 or less deck series
2 $ sol ring finaly worth 1 $ mitch i remember when it was 25 $ in 2010 lol
The idea of sol ring ever being banned is just pillow talk, its like saying "a;ways blame Eddy"

Every card is budget for me lol

This is funny 2 days after mana crypt is banned.

Sol Ring for $1
it's like 0.02€
Hi
should have been staple white cards lol

Baning all good cards ist stupid. Unban all cards and Rule 0your own Ban list
How about you instead Rule 0 unban cards you think are fine instead? I want to be able to sit down and play a game with a group of randoms
@@davidhower7095 i Did IT a Long Time ago and pur Games are fun. WE have Level 6 Decks, 7 and 8. Each Level hast His own Ban list
@@davidhower7095 it's quicker to Star a new Ban list.
