I never had any nostalgia for this film as a kid given I only watched it for the first time today. I didn’t particularly know anything about it except that Michael Keaton played a Snowman. Watching it, it hit me like a sucker punch. I lost my grandfather this year, fairly recently, and this will be the first Christmas without him, so the film’s themes hit like a gut punch and was very relatable to me. It’s a beautiful film, and made me cry a lot. The scene after Jack died where Charlie and Gabby were trying to move snow and then they embrace each other in a hug and start crying together over Jack’s death was absolutely crushing and made me cry a lot. It was a particularly stand out scene, but so is the ending which was also devastating. Such mature themes for a Christmas film, beautiful storytelling, wonderful visuals and performances. It shocks the hell out of me to see this film have negative reviews online from critics, as a user of Letterboxd, I saw this 2.4 aggregate rating was shocking. It’s a great film, and honestly the most underrated I’ve ever watched. Great video, you’ve got a really good voice for voiceovers and I think you have some fantastic potential as a content creator. As far as what you said about the film, I agree tenfold. Devastating and beautiful.
