Hey Lucas, it is linked to the technology that the precaster adopts. A joint may be cheap with reference to the material cost, but the cost of assembling and installing in the site may be expensive. Again, the target profit of a company will vary with another. This makes it difficult to get the cost database of elements or systems.
sir i am sachin intern at motera stadium ahmedbad in this site 75% work is pecast construction. doubt- if joint two precast element then it is called monolithic joint or construction joint. if say monolithic then why? if say construction joint then why?
Hi Sachin, If your connections are such that the end element will act as one piece, it is mono lithic. You will have dowels which are used to transfer stress between the elements. This makes them act as one. You could have seats in the stadium that are precast and screwed in place. They could be removed at a later date and this will not be mon lithic. Trust this helps. Hi Guloguloguy, Low cost is today's mantra. However, I doubt very much on the degree customization will be possible. If you are working toward the standards set you may be on the way to solving a very big housing challenge. Best Wishes, JSP

I was thinking that some of Frank Lloyd Wright's wonderful "Usonian" house designs, could be "redesigned", as far as using less wood, more concrete blocks, using "Air-crete", and perhaps some "manufactured/engineered" precast slabs, to use as "nearly flat" roofing panels. I think that it'd be tremendously beneficial if there was a way to "make" the blocks, on site, and to assemble them upon a "slab, on-grade" pad system, while keeping the costs to a minimum, using the latest, greatest "LOW-ENERGY-LOSS" low-cost materials, like "Air-crete", and using fire-proof, termite-proof, DURABLE methods, that require minimum long-term maintenance, and reducing the use of expensive, rare materials, like "milled lumber", etc.
