The only character that should be trying to save the bad guys is Sarada Uchiha. Its her desire to become Hokage like Naruto, so Sarada should be the one to get through to Kawaki in my opinion. As for Boruto you are 100% right he definitely shouldn't be trying to save all the bad guys but instead be more like adult Sasuke in the timeskip.
I honestly didn’t think of that. Especially if sasuke dies to the hands of kawaki, it would be huge for sarada’s character if she still chooses to try and save him instead of kill him. I really like this idea

I agree 100% with the fact that especially after what boruto has gone through, if he comes out of it still trying to be friends with all the villains it would be very disappointing. I really like your ideas as to where boruto and kawaki as characters should end to make the story feel very satisfying without being the “happy ending”
Exactly, when it comes to this duo I want nothing but tragedy. Don’t make it another naruto and sasuke because personally to me, the overall story can be as great as it wants. That aspect will always leave a distaste in my mouth
I don't think Kawaki will be killed because Naruto and HInata need to be rescued from the other dimension. They will probably fight intensely until Boruto is able to pull them back out with time-space manipulation through his karma seal or something similar. Kawaki probably just being injured/incapacitated or at worst getting some "same coin exchange" treatment and being sealed in the dimension their parents were previously kept.
I really hope that kawaki dosn’t become so twisted that he kills Naruto because he thinks that he dosn’t deserve to live in the cruel world the Naruto universe is. But its rilly unlikely cuz of obvious reasons.
