I mostly bale and wrap rather than clamps, so I always use planted grass fields so that I can use a worker on the field to mow while I bale and wrap. The ability to use a worker is the most important thing for me.
Farmer Cop did a video on grass and got the same result the difference between 1st ready to harvest state and the 2nd ready to harvest state was negligible. You're better off harvesting as soon as it says it's ready because you can get 4 cuts a year instead of 3.
first harvest state and second harverst state results in the same amount, while on FS22 it was a 50% difference, so i mark this as one of the many many bugs.
So various testing I've done and others have done planted grass is broken currently in the base game hopefully it will be fixed in an upcoming update, planted grass should have two harvest states and the 2nd harvest state means you get less cuts in the year but you get significantly more yield for allowing it to grow to the final growth state currently harvest two is exactly the same as harvest one. It doesn't reach the final harvest state even if it looks like it, the yields are identical from harvest one to harvest two..
Don't know if u saw it but granny tana put out a video about how she is adding color options to the tardis trailers on the body not just the cover and wheels ....u were talking about not having the color option for the body......plus she's adding the 200 thousand option to her forage wagon
Might be worth noting the full cost of painting the meadow grass versus the cost of fertiliser, mind you if youhave cows and they make slurry then thats an option too. Very interesting results from you effort.
@MrSealyp I thought of something you could do to all but guarantee no extra grass being mowed and worked into the test. Ring the entire test field with asphalt or concrete or whatever, basically a NON-GRASS item, also less critical if you don't have a GPS available.
That difference in grass yield between 2 and 3 months got changed in Patch 1.3 I believe, initially it was giving more yield to wait for the 3rd month, but Farmer Cop also did testing and found that you really don't have to wait for that anymore. Not sure why they changed it but they did. Also the grassland roller now will bug the field and grass won't start growing after doing the grassland roller. You have to mulch after that or it gets stuck in a weird Null state
One test still missing here if you are testing different growth stages for yield difference with the planted grass, then you should do that with the painted one as well instead of waiting the four months. What if it also yields almost the same at two or three months as it does at four?
They should do that in this game too. It's been found in the XML files that harvest state two should have a higher yield than harvest state one but it's broken hopefully be fixed an upcoming update.
There seems to be quite a few bugs in grass growing and harvesting at the moment, so a lot of this may be irrelevant after a patch or two. I spent the first 5 years of my first farm doing nothing but grass for silage. What I have noticed, is that silage additive seems to be broken. Adding silage additive to a forage wagon does nothing. I get the same amount of bails. I then bought the special round bailer that has the hopper, and it doesn't even use its silage additive. Even if I stop using silage additive in my forage wagons, the bailer never uses its additive. I really do think silage additive is broken. Then again, what isn't broken in this game.
I've been wait for someone i watch to test one other thing with grass can you plant grass in cow pens and does it work for grazing and does it last longer and can you fertilize it
Would the cover crop not be the other version of grass, not the normal grass? The leaf radish. In Dutch it's bladrammengras Google says this leaf radish is ment for fertilizing
Also what you can do if you want some grass without having to mow a field is have a mower on and running and continuously paint the grass under the mower and it'll pile up with a pile of mowed grass 🤙🏽😂
hi sp i’ve just had a lightbulb moment from watching this what if you planted grass and then if can painted Meadow grass on top could you get a double yield from the same field? and I don’t know if you know this but build a cow barn and then try and put a manual heap next to it … Great fun😂
Is 4 months growth of meadow grass the same as the £50 painted meadow grass? You cut directly the painted meadow and got ~100,000. What do you get if you cut after 4 months of growth?
I haven't tried it, but why not just repaint the long meadowgrass after harvesting? It would make sense to me instead of what I've been doing and wait 4 months for full growth to harvest again
One thing you didn't factor in was the 'cost' of painting the grass from memory it's £80 p/large square. So on one of your huge fields I'd say you'd be worse off painting compared to the cost of seed used..? Just a thought!😂
Why wait for the meadow grass to regrow? Just repaint the field and harvest...rinse and repeat. Endless grass and no waiting for it to grow. (Yes I appreciate the cost of repainting - but still...)
I find cultivated grass allows the AIs to work the mowing etc. But they wont mow first off on virgin meadow grass will they? Some times they wont do any grass work on virgin grass. But Generall I find if I plough and plant grass the AIs do all the work as necessary Inc baling if you stick a V windrower on the front of yer tradder
That's weird, those patches in your field that won't grow, I have never had that issue? But I've never had an issue with tornadoes, I have went 1 full year in game and haven't seen 1 tornado? Idk if it's broken for me or what? And yes I have crop destruction on from weather.
@@RyanPuckett1979 I rolled with the grass roller just before winter, and it never came back, so I had to replant which ended up losing me the first harvest in the spring.
@@jimjasutis5046 You have to use a Grassland roller. If the roller is not on the grass roller setting then it has no effect on grass. That being said there really is no point to roll grass in FS 25 outside of role play. In FS 25 to get max grass yield per year you need to sow in NOV. You then can harvest in March, May, July, Sept, and Nov, keeping in mind that you must sow every Nov in order get all 5 harvests in the following year.
Where in the world do farmers paint grass? I’m sorry Sealy but this video is just stupid. The game is called Farming Simulator, we are simulating a farming experience. If I wanted to cheat and paint grass it would make sense to take it one step further and just add money and not have to farm at all?
I’m sorry for my words, truly but I don’t understand why that is a reoccurring thing in this community where players recommend these weird go-arounds instead of just farming
Lets ask a real farmer if they paint there grass fields. Sheesh who knew playing a farming simulator game would require prepping a field and planting grass.

One difference is that you can hire workers on planted fields

Reason why to plant it as fields is for workers
If you let the grass grow one month after cutting you get a fertilising state when ploughing.
Damage done to your fields from hail can be fixed by plowing and "allow to create fields" in the damaged areas

Yes got the same yield myself from both harvest states
Great testing. Think I will stick with planted grass as the map will tell me when it's ready otherwise I'll forget and just mow it once per year 😂😂😂

You cannot gage the yield you'll get from the appearance of the grass. Planted grass will yield the same after 2 months as after 3 months.
extremely different using a planted field for sheep over using meadow, I never have to add grass in sheep pens when i use planted grass
Just turn weather to visual only will stop the field damage.

Hi Mrsealyp 👋 thanks for this info. You can get a little more yeald with the Don mower than the grass mower
I loved this video! Very useful Info! Thanks Mr. SealyP!
Great video MrP as always 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In FS22 you always got a bigger yield in the 3rd month. But it's right, you can harvest your grass 5 times a year in FS25, with no real loss..

This is true . Tested it recently and got the same amount of bales of 1st and 2nd harvest state

Turn the disaster distruction of or to visuals only so you still get the feel but non of the the damage its in settings on crops and growth.
If you plow painted grass in third stage it will leave behind fertilized state.

If you get the grass from the outside it is fine but goes brown during the colder months where the planted grass does not
dumb question, did you fully fertilize between 1st and 2nd planted experiments??
Hi Mrsealyp, what if you put the panted grass over the cut planted grass? Would there be a fertilizer state 🤔 and could you use the driver assistance

I always mow the painted grass around my fields. Especially if the area is wide.
i heard if u roll grass right away after cutting ,it grows back a month faster
Is there a way of re numbering a merged field and acreage

Don't paint the field with the base grass. Just use the meadow grass to cover the plowed field
You all should just wait a year for Giants to fix the game…to many bugs right now.
What happen two your let paly ?
HAHAH you were parked over the smaller Field when You turned on the GPS..
I tried the roller and the grass never grew back.
You have to use the grass roller with the seeder on it.
There is a bug that will sometimes cause that (Rare).
