Thank you so much for this fantastic review, and for the kind comments on the formatting. I am the publisher and formatter (and cover designer). I was so excited (and lucky) to work with Nat on this one, I've long been a fan of his work. Really appreciate you sharing this with your audience.
You did a really great job! It's not often that the formatting/design feels like an important part of the reading experience but it definitely did here
Just finished Rest Stop and it was awesome! Had to put it down several times just to rest my nerves and THAT is what I want when I read horror. Thank you for the recommendation. 😊
I've had Mary on my TBR since Olly gave it such a glowing review. Just finished Rest Stop and was really impressed. I'll definitely be moving Mary up my list.
Thanks for the rec, Olly. I just finished reading This Wretched Valley, a wilderness horror story. It is by Jenny Kiefer, and it is her debut novel. I thought it was a solid read with a great opening chapter.
Nestlings is one of my favorite novels I've read this year! I think it would absolutely be worth your time. Nat Cassidy has quickly become one of my favorite authors because of his background as a playwright
It's terrific that Nat Cassidy continues to be a winner for you. I'm definitely going to pick this one up. I feel like I watched or read dozens of movies or books that take place at rest stops (which are terrifying).
In Nestlings it’s vampirish and he plays with how would a Jewish person think about vampires and also with a character who has had a traumatic experience resulting in disability… how does that character cope. It’s a great book
Love Nat Cassidy! Both Mary and Nestlings are excellent and I would recommend them to anyone. Looking forward to reading this one soon! Thank you for the awesome review. 🤘🍻👍
I was already looking forward to this one, but your review has me even more excited. I loved Mary. Nestling was just okay for me overall, but Cassidy is a great writer.
Love this book! Great review :-) Have you ever read What's Wrong with Valerie by D. A. Fowler? It’s an extremely twisted, endlessly entertaining good time.
I think shorter books can make their impressions stronger than longer novels sometimes can. More like a hit and run effect; that's not to say that the storytelling skills should be any less sharp for the shorter story.

Thanks for the rec, Olly. I just finished reading This Wretched Valley, a wilderness horror story. It is by Jenny Kiefer, and it is her debut novel. I thought it was a solid read with a great opening chapter.
I’ve heard good things about that one!

It sounds like a nice quick horror story and just at the right time of year.
Loved Mary and liked Nestlings. Can't wait to read this!!

I must read this one. Thanks 😊

Great review Olly, just ordered it! Publishers/authors need to start acknowledging the power of your recommendations!

Yes! I just finished Mary and thought it was excellent

I really need to read Nestlings soon

It is a great setting - familiar but uncomfortable
Sounds good!
Just bought it!

Have you ever read What's Wrong with Valerie by D. A. Fowler? It’s an extremely twisted, endlessly entertaining good time.
I haven't! I'll have to take a look
Can anyone tell me where I can find the full list of monthly reading prompts? (GarbAugust, Horror Mayhem, etc.) Thanks.
I don't think there is one. There was a channel for a while that used to call them all out but I think it's fallen by the wayside

Very true
Nat cassidy is on a heater when it comes to horror

I wasn’t crazy about Mary. I get what he was trying to do and say, but Mary the character was problematic. Also, overall, not very scary.
“A short horror book that you need to read”
Whatever you say handsome 🫡📖
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
