Paul Drake is the creepy leader who gets impaled with the unicorn at the end. Paul is a close friend of mine, he said Clint didn't want to use a stunt man in their first fight scene so he had to take some hits.From then on he was always hired to get beat up or killed by the Hero. Eddie Murphy fights him in Beverly Hills Cop and Tom Skerrit kills him in Poker Alice. Also Mr. T. Fights him in the A-Team. We have a blast watching his old movies, we take shots everytime he gets punched or killed.

A lot of people seem down on the fifth and final Dirty Harry, The Dead Pool, but I appreciate it. It features a young Liam Neeson and a young Jim Carrey -- plus it's the inspiration for the superhero name Deadpool. Love all you do, looking forward.
I always forget Jim Carrey is in it when I re-watch it. Besides the first, it might be my favorite. The Enforcer has blah villians, sort of like this one, and a couple of too long chase scenes. I don't rank them though as I don't feel there is that large of a difference.

this is my favorite dirty harry movie. you guys gotta check out the Death Wish movies. Charles Bronson is just as tough as eastwood, but without even trying to be. this one specifically was kind of competing with the death wish series, and also all of the death wish spin offs, like Ms. 45, I Spit On Your Grave, The Exterminator, Savage Streets, there were lots.
Albert Popwell, who plays Horace, is on of Clints oldest friends. Clint made sure he had parts in the Dirty Harry films. He had a scheduling conflict with "The Dead Pool". You have got to see Clint in "The Gauntlet".

Love Firefox, it's just too dark visually but that's his style in the '80s perhaps many younger viewers may find these old Clint movies too leisurely paced.

Among Eastwood's remaining westerns, I would suggest that you submit to your patrons "The Outlaw Josey Wales". In 1996, this film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Sondra Locke (with whom he had a longstanding relationship) is also in this movie. I also like "Pale Rider" and "High Plains Drifter".
You must add the 1977 movie, The Gauntlet to this list of Dirty Harry movies. This is the 4th movie that Clint Eastwood did with his partner Sondra Locke. He does not play Dirty Harry but it's still a great cop movie that aligns with the Dirty Harry films.

I love Blood Work, it's the very last Clint movie in the old cinematic style, studios and moviemaking in general would turn everything upside down technically in the industry only two years later, alas.
@@lexkanyima2195 Looking at the film, it's obvious that it's his last traditional thriller in what's an almost '80s style shot film, the industry was changing (for the worse) around this time and for prime culprits Warner Bros in particular a turning point. Just two years later, preciously few movies produced in Hollywood would sport this natural look or feel of classic films anymore soon they'd move away from shooting on film altogether but more importantly (alas) and sooner, the uniformed limited color palette we still see in use today would replace the old vividness, thus realness of before gone. Try to notice it when you watch movies, you can see the shift in quality depending on year decades even, since we're now some 20 years into this upside down silliness.
This was filmed in Santa Cruz, California and they did some footage on the Pacific Garden Mall which is historic because a few short years later, the 89 earthquake completely wrecked that whole street. They had to tear down the Cooperhouse which was where they were eating in an outdoor setting. I used to live there for many years and I miss the old Mall area.

Since you just watched this movie, I would highly recommend another Clint Eastwood film called The Gauntlet (1979). Sondra Locke (who played Jennifer) and Pat Hingle (the Police Chief), 2 of the actors in this movie, are also in The Gauntlet along with Eastwood.
Sandra Locke, the killer artist in the movie, was actually Clint’s significant other for a number of years and he starred in a few other movies with her outside this Dirty Harry franchise.

The Dirty Harry series has always been one of my favorite movie series. I have really enjoyed all of your reactions to the movies. I am so glad you decided to watch them all. Clint Eastwood was in another movie that was similar to these called The Rookie. I think you would really enjoy it.
Albert Popwell was in the first 4 Dirty Harry films playing a different character in each, he was a bank robber in Dirty Harry, a pimp in Magnum Force, played Big Ed in The Enforcer and finally got to a good guy as Horace in Sudden Impact.
My favorite of the Dirty Harrys largely due to Sondra Locke's performance. I always thought she had a sort of sadness to her beauty, even in comedies like Every Which Way and Any Which Way. RIP
The semiauto handgun Harry uses is an AMC Auto Mag Model 180 chambered in .44 AMP with an 8.5" barrel. When his Smith & Wesson Model 29 is kicked off of a dock by Mick (Paul Drake), he replaces it with his Auto Mag for the remainder of the film. Much like the S&W Model 29 in the first film, the production crew had a very difficult time acquiring this gun, to the point where they had to contact the original designer, Harry Sanford, who had enough parts in his basement to build two guns for the film. These guns were custom made with serial numbers "CLINT-1" and "CLINT-2". The "CLINT-1" gun was left in live firing mode so Eastwood could train with it to accurately depict recoil while "CLINT-2" was converted to fire blanks for the film. It is rumored that the "CLINT-2" gun was extremely unreliable cycling blank cartridges during production, to the great consternation of Mr. Eastwood. Post-production, it was used for an episode of T.J. Hooker, where it also experienced cycling issues. It currently resides in a private collection. "CLINT-1" was retained by Mr. Eastwood. The .44 Auto Mag, a cool looking gun that was reportedly very unreliable and prone to jamming. Not just the one in the movie, but the gun in general. The one in this movie had a custom 8-inch barrel, since normally only the 6-inch barrel had the strip along the top with the holes.

I love The Dead Pool, especially the chase sequence and how Callahan dispatches the villain that time around.

this is my favorite dirty harry movie. you guys gotta check out the Death Wish movies. Charles Bronson is just as tough as eastwood, but without even trying to be. this one specifically was kind of competing with the death wish series, and also all of the death wish spin offs, like Ms. 45, I Spit On Your Grave, The Exterminator, Savage Streets, there were lots.
It is ironic that there are exactly 5 Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry films and exactly 5 Charles Bronson/Death Wish films. 😏

Albert Popwell, who plays Horace, is on of Clints oldest friends. Clint made sure he had parts in the Dirty Harry films. He had a scheduling conflict with "The Dead Pool". You have got to see Clint in "The Gauntlet".
If you look closely he was also in Coogan's Bluff.
He was one of Clint Eastwoods close friends and a part of Eastwoods stock company of actors in Eastwoods film production company Malpaso. Popwell passed away in 1999 at age 72.
Hope you guys check out Clint Eastwood in "Every Which Way But Loose" (It has a sequel "Any which Way You Can") its a good action/comedy movie, one of his costars is an Orangutan in this series.

A hidden gem of a movie, that stars both Clint and Sondra Locke (who is always excellent in movies), is Bronco Billy. It’s a classic to me.

Great reaction. Other Prime Clint Eastwood movies would be Every which way but loose, The gauntlet, Escape from alcatraz and an underrated Eastwood western High plains drifter.
If I may, Firefox is an absolute gem from Clint. Outstanding performance on a fun premise. I'd highly recommend it.
Love Firefox, it's just too dark visually but that's his style in the '80s perhaps many younger viewers may find these old Clint movies too leisurely paced.

Among Eastwood's remaining westerns, I would suggest that you submit to your patrons "The Outlaw Josey Wales". In 1996, this film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Sondra Locke (with whom he had a longstanding relationship) is also in this movie. I also like "Pale Rider" and "High Plains Drifter".

You must add the 1977 movie, The Gauntlet to this list of Dirty Harry movies. This is the 4th movie that Clint Eastwood did with his partner Sondra Locke. He does not play Dirty Harry but it's still a great cop movie that aligns with the Dirty Harry films.

I love Blood Work, it's the very last Clint movie in the old cinematic style, studios and moviemaking in general would turn everything upside down technically in the industry only two years later, alas.

@@lexkanyima2195 Looking at the film, it's obvious that it's his last traditional thriller in what's an almost '80s style shot film, the industry was changing (for the worse) around this time and for prime culprits Warner Bros in particular a turning point. Just two years later, preciously few movies produced in Hollywood would sport this natural look or feel of classic films anymore soon they'd move away from shooting on film altogether but more importantly (alas) and sooner, the uniformed limited color palette we still see in use today would replace the old vividness, thus realness of before gone. Try to notice it when you watch movies, you can see the shift in quality depending on year decades even, since we're now some 20 years into this upside down silliness.

This was filmed in Santa Cruz, California and they did some footage on the Pacific Garden Mall which is historic because a few short years later, the 89 earthquake completely wrecked that whole street. They had to tear down the Cooperhouse which was where they were eating in an outdoor setting. I used to live there for many years and I miss the old Mall area.

An extremely underrated movie. Strong characters, gritty story & a cathartic ending.
It is the worst Dirty Harry film. The ending is terrible. There is no justification for her actions.

Since you just watched this movie, I would highly recommend another Clint Eastwood film called The Gauntlet (1979). Sondra Locke (who played Jennifer) and Pat Hingle (the Police Chief), 2 of the actors in this movie, are also in The Gauntlet along with Eastwood.
Sandra Locke, the killer artist in the movie, was actually Clint’s significant other for a number of years and he starred in a few other movies with her outside this Dirty Harry franchise.
Don’t know if you say this in the full reaction, but the mobster father at the wedding was Frank Pentangelli in Godfather II. ‘Your father did business with Hyman Roth. Your father respected Hyman Roth. But your father never TRUSTED Hyman Roth!’

The Dirty Harry series has always been one of my favorite movie series. I have really enjoyed all of your reactions to the movies. I am so glad you decided to watch them all. Clint Eastwood was in another movie that was similar to these called The Rookie. I think you would really enjoy it.

Albert Popwell was in the first 4 Dirty Harry films playing a different character in each, he was a bank robber in Dirty Harry, a pimp in Magnum Force, played Big Ed in The Enforcer and finally got to a good guy as Horace in Sudden Impact.
Eastwood recommendation: The Outlaw Josey Wales. I think one of his best Westerns.

An excellent but often overlooked and underrated non-Dirty Harry Clint Eastwood movie is "The Gauntlet." It is well worth checking out!
Horace was played by Albert Popwell (RIP) and he was in the three previous Dirty Harry movies.
The semiauto handgun Harry uses is an AMC Auto Mag Model 180 chambered in .44 AMP with an 8.5" barrel. When his Smith & Wesson Model 29 is kicked off of a dock by Mick (Paul Drake), he replaces it with his Auto Mag for the remainder of the film. Much like the S&W Model 29 in the first film, the production crew had a very difficult time acquiring this gun, to the point where they had to contact the original designer, Harry Sanford, who had enough parts in his basement to build two guns for the film. These guns were custom made with serial numbers "CLINT-1" and "CLINT-2". The "CLINT-1" gun was left in live firing mode so Eastwood could train with it to accurately depict recoil while "CLINT-2" was converted to fire blanks for the film. It is rumored that the "CLINT-2" gun was extremely unreliable cycling blank cartridges during production, to the great consternation of Mr. Eastwood. Post-production, it was used for an episode of T.J. Hooker, where it also experienced cycling issues. It currently resides in a private collection. "CLINT-1" was retained by Mr. Eastwood. The girl standing behind Clint in the elevator is Camryn Manheim!!! She's not in the credits, but IMDB has her listed in the "uncredited" section of the cast. I knew I recognized her! She was one of the main actors on the TV series "The Practice".

When I first saw this movie back in the days , I loved the final scene of Harry on the pier holding his gun. And all you heard was the high hat symbols of the drum. They all froze in their place , even the blond . And Harry started taking them down one by one . Reminds me of his " The Good , The Bad & The Ugly Days ". Even " UNFORGIVEN "
In particular, that frame is a direct reference to Fistful of Dollars/Yojimbo, when he emerges from the mist/smoke and is just standing there.

Harry Callahan is one of the very few men that can full on punch a woman in the face and leave the audience shrugging and feeling that it's ok.

You should watch In The Line Of Fire. That is a really good Clint Eastwood movie.
The .44 Auto Mag, a cool looking gun that was reportedly very unreliable and prone to jamming. Not just the one in the movie, but the gun in general. The one in this movie had a custom 8-inch barrel, since normally only the 6-inch barrel had the strip along the top with the holes.

The producers of BTTF 3 had to get special permission to use the name Clint Eastwood and to use the "make my day" catchphrase from Clint himself...Clint was tickled by the homage and said "yes" when Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale & Michael J Fox all called him.

This one I've seen the most mainly because it's the one I used to rent out at the local video store and yes Harry Callahan has the best put down lines.
THE GAUNTLET (1977) Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke. This was not part of the Dirty Harry series, but Eastwood plays Detective, Ben Shockley, speaking truth to power, just like Harry. It was his introduction of fhis girlfriend, Sondra Locke, to the big show. Very good. Add it to your Dirty Harry series.

Sondra Locke is very good, especially in this one. Intense, with those eyes & her husky voice.
I've always liked her, sadly underrated despite being Oscar nominated back in 1968.
