    I added the y-pipe to mine tonight and it made a noticeable difference in low-end power. The sound though……..it’s horrendous! Mine was that funky W style from the factory and I deleted my cat. There was a Flowmaster 3” in and 2 x 3” out when I bought it. Now it sounds like the tallest Honda in the neighborhood. I dunno whether to get an unnecessarily tall gawdy wing or find a muffler to tame this hideous sound.

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the biggest cheapest 3" in, single 3" out muffler I could get at the local auto parts store. Turned it out in front of the back wheel, It sounds like a wana be Lamborghini....that you get at Walmart. Duals on your rig probably not helping the sound either.

    That neck down was actually to get rid of what sounds like piston slap at certain rpm’s.

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's interesting. So they were trying to increase cylinder back pressure to keep the piston under control or something like that?

      @@KaputyINC It’s to tame air pulses that hit each other due to the V10 firing order causing what has been called in the V10 world “flutter” . I learned everything about it after my cat was stolen and the aftermarket one I replaced it with exacerbated the flutter horrendously when cold. Sounds like I have a rod about to go when cold or like a 6.0 diesel.

    Those stock y pipes are what give the v10 it's nasty raspy sound, straight piped. I've always wanted a v10 for for that sound and now i have one and its has a aftermarket y pipe. Sounds like a v6 😑

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did that y pipe then got rid of the cat(off road use only of course) and a cheep part's store muffler, turned out in front of the tire, and it has that distinct v10 sound. Everything 3"

    The Y pipe on my 99 F250 5.4 in blocking me from removing my oil pan. You have any ideas or aftermarket suggestions? The engine is already lifted, so I doubt I'd be able to unbolt it from the headers, especially the passenger side, but if push comes to shove, I suppose I could partially bolt the pan back on and lower everything just to remove the Y pipe. I show it at the end of this video about my timing cover.

      I'm guessing you have to unbolt it from the manifolds to make room, good luck.

  • @AdmiralRustyShackleford
    @AdmiralRustyShackleford ปีที่แล้ว

    Have any videos of this y-pipe and cat delete? Also, if the manifolds ever leak, I think Banks makes a header kit for these, which probably really makes it sound like a Viper.

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't do this again, the y pipe already rusted through, I have 4 v10 super dutys, in the future I'll just do headers. It sounds like a Walmart supercar

  • @soldierscraft9213

    Hey any update on it would u recommend it or maybe leave it stock?

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Small improvement in fuel economy and performance. Pipe itself already has a hole big enough rusted in it to throw a cat through. So I wouldn't buy it again. In retrospect I would have bit the bullet went with headers and a new Y pipe.

      2 MPG, and a little gain in power when towing. It's rarely not hooked to a gooseneck trailer. The exhaust note got slightly deeper as well.

    Bought their kit for the '99-'00 5.4 to delete the six flags waterslide, do the pipes fit tight enough to use exhaust clamps? Saw your comments about it rusting through and figured i'd want to remove it later for some off the shelf stainless

    • @KaputyINC
      @KaputyINC  ปีที่แล้ว

      The gaps are tight enough that you could weld them, Part of the issue is you're on a curve, and you have to cut enough pipe out of the way to get the new pipe on, I don't know if there's enough left to clamp to.
