2011 was the craziest passing year I've ever seen in the NFL. Let's review all that happened: - Tons of shootouts (including this gem) - Three 5,000-yd. passers (and Eli Manning also nearly had 5,000) - Seven 4,000-yd. passers - Four 100+ passer rating seasons - Three 40+ TD passers (Brady also nearly had 40 with 39) - Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, & Matthew Stafford all had an elite year - Tony Romo & Eli Manning had a very good year - Big Ben, Philip Rivers, & Matt Ryan all had a solid year - Cam Newton had a sensational rookie year in which he threw for over 400 yds & 3 TDs in his first NFL game ever - Matt Schaub was on pace for a great year until he was put out for the rest of the season with injury & led the Texans to a 7-3 start (the greatest start in franchise history to that point) & their 1st postseason birth in franchise history - Aaron Rodgers' unreal 46 TD, 6 INT, 122.5 passer rating season - Even Mark "Mr. Butt Fumble" Sanchez had a productive year with 26 TDs & nearly 3,500 yds - "Tim Tebow Mania" & his improbable late-season playoff run that culminated with that wild OT thriller win over the Steelers where he threw over 300 yards on just 10 pass completions - The Brees-Stafford shootout in the Superdome in the Wild Card & the more entertaining, more competitive divisional round shootout between the Saints & 49ers - Brady's 6-TD aerial assault on the Broncos in the divisional round - Eli Manning had the greatest, most clutch postseason run by a QB not named Brady or Montana that I've ever seen - On the flip side, the bottom 10 QBs were some of the worst ever with complete UGLY play (Josh Freeman, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassel, Colt McCoy, Rex Grossman, Sam Bradford, Christian Ponder, John Skelton, Curtis Painter, & Blaine Gabbert) And this was all in a year WITHOUT Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, or Russell Wilson!
@xSaintsfangirl #WHODATNATION, there definitely was an argument made to switch seeds between the Niners and Saints that year. Both teams were 13-3. Everyone assumed the Saints would KILL the Niners during the 2011 divisional game. Alex Smith ended up having the game of his career. Honesrly, I hope Drew Brees wins another Superbowl!!! I'm rooting for him
Sorry sir, the greatest post season by a QB of all time actually goes to Joe flacco. He was clutch that whole run. He became a different person on that SB run
This year for Stafford proves the pro bowl is nothing but a popularity contest and has nothing to do with stats. He passed for over 5,000 yards and over 40 TD and no pro bowl. He did later get put in as an injury alternate
Context matters though. 2011 was a historic year for NFC QBs. 3 QBs from each league go to the pro bowl: Rodgers won MVP with one of the greatest seasons ever, and Brees was right behind him with one of the greatest non MVP seasons ever. Was he snubbed for Eli Manning? Yes, but it’s not as big of a snub as the stats seem to imply
I'm sure Titus Young thinks he should've had 8 receiving touchdowns and every time the quarterback thinks of throwing to Calvin Johnson, he should throw it to Titus instead
Good lord, the reffing in this game was so bad. The Stegan Logan fumble that wasn't a fumble and the Titus Young TD that got called back are just the two major ones I've seen so far and I'm barely 5 minutes into this video.
Why do the lions have to be the team to get robbed? Their not even good most the time.....if any team should get robbed it should be a good team. But this is just rubbing salt in the wound

Poor Lions. Although the drops and missed FGs play a role, it seems they're always getting robbed. Also Calvin Johnson was a monster. Coming from a Steelers fan.

As good as Flynn was, he just didn’t have the arm strength that Wilson did. And he had a shoulder injury that started to affect his play. But as a backup, he was great. Don’t forget that in 2010, the Packers went to Foxboro against the Pats with Flynn starting cause Rodgers was out with a concussion and almost won. And the epic comeback against the Cowboys in 2013 was great as well. Flynn was just a little bit to short with a little bit to weak of an arm to be a 16 game starter. But he was a heck of a backup.
I will always remember watching this game in person...being so disappointed that Rodgers was sitting out for the game, only to see Matt Flynn pull off this amazing game and seeing Jordy run wild. It was unbelievable to watch.
It was that benching of the starters that screwed us out of a repeat. Rodgers was basically sitting for 2 1/2 weeks before that Divisional game against the Giants. They were bound to be rusty. That game was such a disappointment. People say that sitting guys doesn’t make you lose. Yes it does. Look at the 96 Broncos. They rested Elway and a lot of starters to and then lost to the wildcard Jaguars. It just comes down to you can’t rest starters.

Man I’m not even a lions fan but i miss Calvin Johnson. One of the most unstoppable receivers I have ever seen. It was weird he dropped that td though and even weirder how he got in that defenders face after the hit.
So... We aren't gonna talk about how good of a game Titus Young had? I'm a lions fan and remembered thinking after this game we would of had an amazing 3 WR set with Megatron, Burleson and young. That turned out to be great...
The advantages the Packers get, this highlight reel alone has a no call false start, and Stephan Logan was down on the kick return, called fumble, Titus had both feet down, typicall NFL would rather keep the Lion's down.
Having attended this game, I went in thinking this would be a bloodbath, considering Rodgers, Woodson, and Matthews all sat out for this game. Matt Flynn then said, “Hold my cheese curds”. His 480 yards is still the franchise record and his 6 TDs are tied for the franchise record. Still blows my mind, 1,000 yards between both QBs
This single game earned Flynn about $20 million. He was given two large contracts due to the potential he showed in this game with expecting he'd start. First in Seattle when rookie Wilson won the starting job. Second in Oakland where another rookie beat him out.
That Titus Young catch was horribly wrong. You can 100% see that his left foot is in and drags his right foot. It’s clear as day. What a horrible call. That changes the back big time from a td to a fg
Wasn’t the deciding factor of the game. They had an INT on the last drive and gave the Packers possession at midfield, in a game where they scored a touchdown on almost every drive.
