- Discovering Mountain Lion Kittens in Grand Canyon National Park
Biologist Eric York could tell the kittens had been in the area. He pointed out the stomped-down earth and exposed soil, and picked up a small piece of fur. Eric showed us how the kittens could have used the site and where they might hide. Then he called out, "Oh, yikes, there's one in here!"
The litter had retreated into the back of the den. We crawled on our bellies about 5 feet into a den barely 10 inches high. Lying in the dirt, I started the video camera. Through the viewfinder, I saw a ball of fur and bright blue eyes. Read more and see photos at: www.nps.gov/grc...
Oooooh, look at him, trying to be so tough! How adorable!
Hi
Awww, they are so precious! You head will explode from their cuteness. I wouldn't stayed longer than 2 seconds though, cause the momma is probably nearby.
Whoever is filming this is BRAVE. Mom can't be too far off.
He is busy growling and acting tough while his bro is scared and squeezing to the back end of the den😹😹😹
And that is life... some are born brave while others are easily scared and hella timid
aww i love it when babies hiss
Awww so cute I just love these babies.
Oh no Aliens! Hide behind me and I will tell them to bugger off!
maybe mommy was standing right next to the camera man, forcing him to give her babies their first video shoot. XD
poor camera man..
They are so adorable!
Love how the second kitten is oblivious until halfway through the vid, then it wakes up and decides it's time to go. Also love how the first kitten was hissing to cover its sibling's retreat. That's love right there. You could tell the first kitten was terrified, but it helped its sibling get to safety first.
I love mountain lions so much
Isn't this cat incredibly beautiful. Nature.
Gorgeous
Cutest critters alive.
Pero que lindos!!
Leave them alone🐯
Poor things are terrified. If mommy comes back the camera person is lunch! Haha.
Look at those sweet blue eyes!
@FalloutRadius I know very well that they shouldn't get too comfortable around people, but this just looked sad to me. Mama left them in a den where she thought they'd be safe and somebody intruded.
So cute
@dexamyl Humans are not blind at birth. We have lousy depth perception, and we can only see differences between brightly contrasted colors, but we're certainly not blind. The first thing a newborn will do when nursing for the first time is study the face of his/her mother, taking in all the visual features associated with the familiar voice.
@mariesadler They were keeping track of where the mother was by checking for her radio collar transmission.
This is kind of a heart-breaking video -- the kittens' mother died a few months after this video was taken and the kittens would have been too young to survive on their own for very long.
haha love the way one step on the other and goes behind.
Awww, you really scared them. You should have left them alone. >:-(
@ALoveForOrcas I wasn't there. I just read the information that was on the site (not just the article linked to in this video's description, but the other related articles). My presumption based on what I read is that they did not rescue the kittens, which is why I found this video kind of heart-breaking. (Biologist Eric York also died unexpectedly a few months after this video was shot, from a disease contracted from the dead mother of these kittens, which just adds to the sadness.)
Well it's gotta be good for them to scare the crap out of them. Some wildlife expert.
@gwendelk If he got the disease from the cats, then chances are the kittens were also infected, and would possibly have started a pandemic at whatever rescue center they were brought to.
that is tooooo cute!!!
never noticed before cougars have round Pupils' like lions not horizonal like other cats
Awwww! "Grrrr" says the mighty Kitty!
Aw poor babies...Look at that one going, "Who are you? You're not my mommy."
Interesting article at the link above. It explains how the team knew that mama mountain lion wasn't going to jump them.
@subjectofthecrown That's why you carry a tranquilizer gun. and a 9mm.
haha he called out Oh Yikes! i would to but in fear of, wheres ma-ma? lol
😻😻😻😻😻😻
@FalloutRadius lol Those eyes are something else. I'm sure she did. That mama's smarter than those intruders. :)
Mommas gonna get you.
@aguswidjaja I don't think so ... I think they're a protected species.
❤️❤️❤️🌱🌱🌱🌱
soooooooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuute the brave camera man desurve 1 billion subscribe :D
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Маленькие котички,лапуни....
No is mommy comes back it will be the person in the hole crying and mommy filming ^^
Cutie
ehhhh nothing bad could happen mr/mrs person with camera....
Котята это всегда мимишно.
Oh man, cute, but such a bad idea. I hope you got out of there before mom got back!
Yeah you can shoot an animal when it is a camera
Cute 😍❤
@ALoveForOrcas The site that's in the video description.
It's sad to think that when these babies grow up they can be tracked down by dogs and killed just for fun
@Oscillating Fan why do a holes like you exist.WHY
It doesn't seem too wise to crawl into the cave of a mother mountain lion!! That's like smearing honey on your kid so the bear cubs will kiss it and you can take a picture (true story).
@aguswidjaja Well the point of the laws are precisely that they're cute when they're young, but they'll probably maul your ass when older ...
but of course preservation of species is something to be respected.
@aguswidjaja The spots go away as it ages.
They are afraid.💖💕
Masih ada rasa buas.
Just be careful that momma don't find you. That would be bad.
awwwwwwww
well we know who the big brother is... :P
I. Know you wanted to research. But I think it was best to leave them. They're just babies they don't know what to do. They don't have much to protect themselves with.
@dexamyl and 3 years later from then...
@AtarahDerek Very possible.
waw cute
Very sad. Wildlife laws exist for reasons. Abandoned animals belong in Zoo’s not in Dens. They need professional help to grow properly; physically & mentally. These Cubs won’t survive in their natural habitat, thanks to Idiotic human intervention for selfish reasons. This makes me angry & sick at the total lack of integrity of some humans.
@aguswidjaja More like a cross between turkey and beef, actually. But the meat is white like chicken. Ground up, it works well for stew.
In my defense, I had no idea I was eating such a beautiful cat until after I'd finished. As a rule, I try not to eat my fellow hunters. I love cougars, but not in the "on toast, smothered in jam" sense.

どう見ても!ライオンには見えない!
Cool, the one defending the den is the republican, the other is a Democrat looking for a place to hide.
