@@SantinoTsb Not really. Nothing about their arguments concern morality.
Ultimately, it's a choice between a normal life and something more.
If the former is immoral, then the entire world is full of criminals.
But no, it's not wrong to live a normal life. Nor is it wrong to sacrifice to help people.
Whichever way they go, is fully up to them.
Which is why the battle is more about their desires and perspectives, rather than right or wrong. Realism vs Idealism.
And why, I prefer "Being right isn't everything, I don't need any of that."
Because I believe Shirou has shifted from wanting to achieve the dream in absolute, to simply being happy to try and strive towards.
And thus why "I don't need any of that." Shirou is trying for the sake of trying, not for a result. Journey over destination.
      As a later dialogue hints:
"You're right. Putting other people over myself is hypocritical, I get that now. But there's something beautiful about it. I can't help but think how great it would be if I could live like that." (1)
Paraphrased but keyword being 'live like that'. Live as in an ongoing effort, rather than a destination.
There's also the contrast between these two:
"I told you. It's not that I want to become one(a hero of justice). It's that I will become one no matter what!"
      Said early fight
"I'll strive, to become a hero of justice this world needs."
      Said later on, keyword strive.
      So on, so forth.
      (1) The dialogue is right before his final charge.

You know, I think it's pretty cool it the song starts as the scene shows Kiritsugu. Because the opening lyrics fit him very well.
"At the end of this idyllic dream drawn by a powerful downpour,
I walked on, shaking with drenched shoulders."
The end of the grail war was the end of Kiritsugu's dream. It was the moment he gave up trying to be a hero.
"While with tiny, worn out hands, striving to fill this void,
I gathered up memories devoid of color."(from the full version)
Because the result of all his efforts turned sour. The wish he sought that would save everyone, doomed a city.
So he searches the ruins, for something, someone that he could save at all. A piece of his dream that he could salvage.
"Love, kindness. I wouldn't mind throwing them all away."
One life for many. Cold, calculating pragmatism was Kiri's way of striving towards the dream. He would shut off his feelings if it meant saving more people. But like Archer, it caused him to lose sight of why he wanted to in the first place.
"If I could find what I lost along the way"
Then he found Shirou. An injured boy, one foot in the grave. And he was overjoyed. He was happy he could save someone. Relieved of his unbearable feeling of guilt.

@@balmung7599 again is shirou cannot see it in his mind he cannot project it... Shirou NEEDS the mental image to project thats how it works its literally how he trained his life(without realizing it) and the talent he has for. How he has been analysing and creating images of the stuff he repaired.
on top of that there is no way to circumvent the Saber mana requirememt because Avalon doesnt inherently have the healing factors by itself instead Avalon is a pocket dimension that connects to the Island of Avalon the land of fairies, the utopia where no harm can be done and the origin of the healing. The island of avalon isnt gona answer to Shirou because he has no rights for it, he has no connection to the fairies or the lady of the lake. Saber was the one to recieve Avalon from the fairies and accepted her.

The funny or sad thing about Shirou is that "he is helping others just for his own selfishness". He doesn't care about the other parties feelings.
He isn't helping anyone because they need help, he helps people because it makes him feel alive. Every single second, Shirou thinks he shouldn't be alive and has an extreme Survivor's Guilt.
This is also what he saw at Kiritsugu at the end of Fate/zero... It wasn't Shirou that was saved but rather it was the reverse. He's just following in his footsteps.

Gods this series is frustrating. The characters talk _around_ their motivations so much and there's so much obfuscation and rattling on that it's hard to sort out the important parts from the not. I've kind of got it now but this scene would hit so much harder for me if we had had some clearer idea from the beginning.
Essential problem boils down to: Shiro wants to save everyone and prevent people suffering. The problem is that it's physically impossible to do that, no matter how powerful you are, happiness comes from the expense of others. Archer tells him this will eventually break him, and that furthermore his ideals never came from a true desire of his own and he's just a broken person following a cursed ideal. Kiritsugu left Shiro with a really shitty legacy and didn't bother to explain what happened to him so that maybe Shiro could improve on it. (Which is a fantastic character beat and I'm angry it's articulated so poorly and relies on the viewer having seen Fate/Zero and connecting the dots.)
In this scene Shiro realises Archer has forgotten that while yes, he is imitating Kiritsugu's legacy, there is a true desire in himself to prevent tragedies like what happened to him and to alleviate his survivors guilt.
There's no mention of the idea that... that's not a healthy motivation either? I think Rin realises the problem is Shiro's lack of self worth and dedicates herself to helping him with that. But it is all in dialogue rather than really shown?
One of Fate's essential problems is that it doesn't _show_ character motivations, it tells the audience through dialogue. But then that dialogue is so circular and obtuse it can be really hard to tell what anyone is on about. Plus they deliver lore in the same manner so the audience gets used to zoning out.
(I wish I wasn't a Fate fan gods. I'm just here for Saber like everyone else.)

That’s the jist of it yeah.
Although it should be noted that shirou is incapable of actually finding a perfectly healthy motivation as he’s permanently lost his sense of self. And no therapy wouldn’t “fix” that either. That or what therapy even aims to do because it’s impossible, you can’t forget trauma, it’s impossible.
What shirou does is find a way to cope with his issues in a way that lets him self actualise in the healthiest way he can

    • @KaiseaWings
      @KaiseaWings 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@r.k845 Which is a really great character building! It just doesn't come across at all.
Fate has an issue with saying things as metaphors... but not being clear about what's a metaphor. I'd heard about Shirou being 'empty' and assumed it was something _literal_ because Fate throws around a lot of concepts like that. Like spiritually empty?
But in this case they mean depression.
      Makes stuff tricky to follow.
