Whether or not quidditch dlc is free or not, dropping it later is a smart move for the devs. they will have more time to perfect the quidditch dlc while getting info from players on how the flying mechanics and iron out bugs. This could lead to quidditch in the game being fantastic and boosting hours played. And this gives them the ability to wait until interest in the game drops then bam quidditch dlc comes out and now everyone is playing and talking about it again
Perfecting is fine but don't act as if its smart to not include it right away. It has been included in games before. It's not that hard to program a flying broom and get the physics right. Game developers have already programmed airplanes, jets, boats, ships, helicopters and more. It can be done if they gave it the proper resources. It would have been nice to have it at the beginning.
@@wolverineiscool7161 they already have flying brooms, the problem would be fully implementing the whole game of quidditch in a satisfying way. Nothing that would go into making quidditch would really translate to any other parts of the game, so any time spent on that specific subsection would be time that couldn’t be spent on a part of the main gameplay. It makes sense to focus on making the actual game good before implementing mini games
I’ve played 15 hours of Hogwarts Legacy so far and honestly there are SO MANY references to quidditch by NPCs and what feels like a lot of subtle hints that Quidditch will eventually come - I’m pretty convinced at this point
Yeah there’s some Easter eggs during a side quest that show the “injured” person and a note from Black as well. Definitely will be a dlc feature in the future

I think another reason quidditch isn't in the game is that the brooms needed to go a certain speed to feel useful to explore the open world, but that speed makes quidditch very difficult because the pitch at proper scale would be small for going that fast, and keeping track of like 20 npcs flying around that fast would probably be very hectic. You also kind of have to make the players seekers, because otherwise the match just ends randomly at any time due to npc getting the gold snitch.
Or have a party where people can be refs, and if someone leaves a ref can come on and play plus that also might make for better refs 😂 when the AI takes over the again and makes better decisions. Or just spectators than can fill in like a watchable lobby.
you really cant expect a quidditch DLC to be free... Quidditch is big enough and has enough depth to be its own game as we saw on the PS2 and even that game was very barebones
When the Headmaster mentioned Quidditch was cancelled I immediately jumped to the conclusion that it’s either gonna be an expansion for this game or is getting an entirely different project on it’s own - Edit: I know Valenwood’s tweaking but just let him be there’s clearly something going on there.

@@valenwood6299 that’s completely on you mate, the devs have confirmed over a year ago that there wasn’t gonna be any Quidditch in the base game. That’s more then enough time to cancel your pre-order. That said: it has been also confirmed that early in development, they were in fact working on several Quidditch game modes but has since been cut from the game, probably because they ran out of time to develop it if they also wanted to polish all elements that had been finished already

A dlc that has quidditch and perhaps code to make the npcs more reactive to your actions would be cool. I see so many videos with people having joined the "dark side" killing students and teacher alike, and its just thumbs up from the other npcs in the room 😂 actions, reactions and consequenses😍
Honestly there’s so much they can add, between more quests in the future, more character customization, more characters to interact with. Plus more. It would be cool if they added a time turner feature where we could go to another timeline. All of this would take a long time so I think it’s cool, that they are taking their time on the game to make sure that everything is perfect

Honestly, the loss of Quidditch doesn't bother me that much. The game is 40 hours with story missions not counting the side quests. It will be fun to immerse in the world and get lost in its depth.
Quidditch is one of my favorite things in Harry Potter universe. And was bummed to hear, it’s not playable in the game. Hopefully it does in a DLC like you said in this video 🤞🏻
@Troy Gromley unfortunately in todays age its still more expensive to make a dlc than a chit ton of people buying the dlc. I can't tell you how many games are coming out incomplete and staying incomplete.
I’m actually quite glad to see so many people make an uproar for more features being added to the game. I personally hope for a Quidditch World Cup dlc I don’t mind paying honestly because I’m enjoying the game so far. I’ve barely scratched the surface but so many people and characters reference it and the Quidditch pitch looks stunning! I’m also in the boat of give us more! 🤣 give me more broom racing challenges and all that!
If you're adding quidditch to the game, what do you do to fix the problem that catching the snitch is worth 15 scores and ends the game? For any other position to matter, one team must be beating the other by more than 15 scores. I often wondered why teams wouldn't just put three players in front of the three hoops and send two seekers after the snitch, since it's the only thing that matters.
I fully expect it to be added to the game. While I only have a few hours in game, the snitch flies around in the background of certain menus, and there's a store for getting sport gear with a snitch emblem. So I bet they'll add it in later

"It's called releasing it for money." Not in this case. You're asking a developer to include madden 2023 in their game on top of the role play aspect. That would be a huge technical feat to do and then to only sell it for 60$. Except madden is on the ground. Quiddach is in the air.
Realistically it's gonna take 7+ years to make another harry potter game at least in terms of a mainline storyline game, Come out with paid DLC or make a separate Harry Potter Quiddich game that makes improvements on the 2003 game I NEVER played but has awesome region specific specials.
I feel like its a solid bet they'll be adding quidditch eventually. Another thing i think would make a cool expansion would be to make the black lake exploreable. Make a swimming/diving mechanic, add gilly weed or whatever, battle the little monsters down there, ruins and stuff to explore. Just an idea
I have to give absolute props to the team for factoring in a reason with Headmaster Black banning it, it's quite clever cause they could have just not given a reason and said deal with it as a couple of GC's have done recently, as to why it's not available (whether it will be later or not)
you are kidding right? its pretty obviously a last minute excuse, with nearly no believability or explanation. in the books/movies, several students are injured and hospitalized and we never see quidditch not being played. i don't mind waiting, but the in game reason is laughable at best.

I know the triwizard tournament wasn’t canonically active in the 1800s but i still think itd be awesome to have one as a dlc later it was something i was most excited about honestly
also its nice that the game seems more brutal and cruel than the movies. Was worried it was just another disney roller coaster ride, but with the beginning part with dragons maybe eating the dude, and the goblin murdering the banker - just more dark and awesome

@@alexsawicki Yes. You can also 100% murder people in the game. However, the consequences of using dark magic is none, and you can't actually cast spells at other students or random friendly NPC's.
me either I wasn't expecting the game to be so dark. when I did the quest to search for tobbs who was in the cave getting leech juice and heard his super depressing story about his abuse and horrible life just to find out he had died anyways and there was no way to bury him or kill the master for being so cruel I was so sad. defs was not ready for how sad and brutal some of the stories in this game are

I think theres plenty of immersion to let a few things slide, sleeping being an easy one. Theres way too much to do and see for me to want to go to bed. And also for following people around, unless youre some type of creep, then you'd be the one already breaking the immersion acting that type of silly.

I think its very likely that they add quidditch later on. The reason I think they didn’t add it at release is because they want everyone to focus on getting fully immersed in the story and completing the side quests instead of spending all their time at the quidditch pitch. It would also be cool if they add a quidditch world cup feature where you got to travel to watch the world cup and go into those awesome tents! There’s so much they can do with this game they could even have your character play through their 6th and 7th years!
Tbh I'm not too fussed about Quidditch not being in the game. The way the sport is set up it's built around the seeker to an insane degree. Yeah in the books it makes sense as that's Harry's position and it's largely separated from the rest of the match. But I do wonder how you'd balance that from a gameplay perspective that makes it fun to play any other position.
@Power Tale But in Quidditch world cup you weren't playing an RPG with one dedicated character. It might break immersion if you were suddenly controlling other characters.
Came here to say this. The game only makes sense in the books. I think a lot of people have their nostalgia glasses on here and aren’t seeing how hard it would be to put it in the game in a way that would be at all satisfying or rewarding. Creating a season would take up too much of the game and making it optional would likely result in everyone playing it once or twice and never touching it again
@@xXSubieSnacksXx Yeah, while reading the books, I understood that JK Rowling had no clue how sports worked. It's like creating a soccer game with no game clock. Someone outside the game is doing this puzzle, and gives 5 goals to the team he's doing the puzzle for. Well, obviously, in almost every case those 5 goals are the most important of the game, with most scores 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, or within 5 goals. So, winning the puzzle is really the only thing that matters, not the game on the field. You could be destroying the other team on the field 4-0, and lose 5-4 because the other team's puzzle master got the puzzle first.
@@forestfire7022 I've seen a lot of the leaked gameplay reactions and they are saying the story is really good, side quests are average (on par with Ubisofts AC games) and the open world is bad as it's just a bunch of collectables (around 600!) And a bunch of constantly spawning groups of enemies very similar to Assassin's creed games
I think it's going to be a DLC in the future. Quidditch being cancelled is mentioned a lot in the game, including in the letters and the dialogue of the teachers.
even the ball itself is available and you can find it during a main quest, but it's hidden and you can't get to it or interact with it. You just see it fly
I hope they will also release a patronus update later (that you have to use the online quiz to summon a corporeal form so you can’t just choose a rare or powerful one every time) so that you could have a battle/exploration companion at times
Let's be real here, Quidditch is a complete mess conceptually. The only way to make it work as a game is to subvert the rules of quidditch and only allow players to go for the snitch after successfully playing the field in the other roles for a while. If you don't do that the entire game is simply hunting the snitch which means you're really just doing a race against a single opponent next to a quidditch match. Playing in the other positions isn't fun because you have no control over whether or not you win or lose the game if it's all down to the seekers, and positions don't rotate either, so it's not like baseball where you can strategize around the strengths of different players depending on who is doing what at the time.
It would be amazing to see this introduced to the game, there’s nothing like different modes etc to play in a game. All it does is just increases the life span. Especially if it’s that well made, it could actually get competitive
I think the fact that Portkey Games is so prominent everywhere; in the logo, in every trailer etc. tells us that there's more games coming. Maybe even a Quidditch sports game, like FIFA or NBA? That would be pretty awesome. I used to play the Quidditch World Cup PS2 game, that was pretty awesome. I think the 'sport' is really well thought through and actually lends itself as platform for a great sports game.
That's one thing to think about. Unless they made Portkey Games to literally just act as the holding company for this game, there *have* to be more games in the works for the wizarding world.
I am hopeful that if they do Quidditch right that they could eventually branch it out into its own game and we can get a FIFA style Quidditch game at some point. It would be really cool to build a character and a team and go through a career.
@@tgiacin435 Yes it would be good, there was a ps2 Harry Potter game which was entierly just quitage matches from all over the world, you could play as different countrys and switch beetwen all the team members.
I got an offer for a playtest at their studio in Kirkland and I couldn't make it so had my friend do it, it was a playable quidditch multiplayer mode test.
Quidditch is a fun thing to watch, but wouldn't function well in the game. Controlling the whole game would not be fun, since they should have added a quick-time event for the seeker, like in the previous games which in my opinion is very outdated and breaks the flow of the game. I think it would only work if your character could play as a seeker, but then again, you wouldn't have any effect on the ball palys apart from chasing the snitch. I'm hoping that they will find a good solution to put Quidditch in the game either by controlling a whole team or only 1 player.
I would love to see a version that worked, but let's face it - quidditch is a very poorly designed sport. You'd need to overhaul scoring to make any position but seeker feel impactful.

Other than accuracy, they've clearly put massive value in just making the game fun - personally I don't think quidditch would be a compelling game to play, but the Quidditch World Cup pleased fans so at least there's a framework. I played the hell out of Pyre so "magic soccer"-esque games can definitely work. Honestly, I'd love to have a team just build a new wizarding sport from scratch with an eye on making a competitive e-sport - it's weird that their aren't more sports in universe, why not make one that is built game first instead of narrative first
Quidditch would not function well in Hogwarts Legacy for one simple reason. You can only look around horizontally while on a broom in Hogwarts Legacy. You can't move the camera to look up or down while in flight, so the very first thing players would find out if they tried to play quidditch in it is that they can't see shit going on.
I really Hope the developers see all the attention this game is getting and expands on the world a LOT! Or at least start on the next chapter. This game has the potential to be HUGE. This is the first game in awhile I am just sucked into the world. I usually play racing and flight sims. But something about walking around hogwarts looking at all the neat things, I can do that for hours on end. The forbidden forest is so fun to just go get lost! There is so much to do already, I would gladly play money for a DLC add ons. Especially to support the devs to keep going. This imo had the potential to be game of the year for a next few years. We really don't get many original idea games anymore. But when these greats show up it's glorious.
On the quest the caretakers lunar lament you can hear one of the nurses in the hospital wing saying quote “It’s a shame that mr black banned quidditch” and there was a person that said “I would of bet on hufflepuf
I strongly suspect it will be added later as paid dlc, specifically as a full expansion, not some small add-on. The reason I say this is because (as stated in this video) all the elements are already there, the field, the broom flying, even the uniforms (as shown but not spoken about in the video as well). The reason I think it will be a full expansion is because it would need to happen canonically AFTER the main storyline. As, it was stated that it is currently banned. So, it would need to take place in the future when it is no longer banned and that is not the kind of thing added as just a dlc add on. Besides, the fact that this game is going to sell gang busters doesn't in anyway mean that the devs (and more importantly the publisher) doesn't want MORE money when people absolutely will spend more money on something like this. Especially because something like this would likely have a suitably large development price tag attached, there is NO WAY it would be free dlc. That is just not happening, not in this world, not in this time. Maybe if the game flopped at launch and it turned out everything was a lie, MAYBE then it would be put in as free dlc to earn back good will (a-la Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky) but all the reviews are in and they are VERY good. I also suspect (although I have no evidence of this, it's just a theory) that it will include a full quidditch tournament and storyline to go with it. I HOPE it will even include some kind of team management sim where you can pick your team and develop/improve players or even their gear as you progress. That's just me and my wishful thinking though.
Several of the teachers are trying to "convince" the headmaster, to open up for quidditch again. I bet the quidditch questline will begin with dealing with the headmaster and assisting those teachers.
@JailbreakJezie Yeah I agree, now that I have hands-on and am a good way into the game. It's clear to me that literally all the peices are in place, and they are setting up the storyline to be there. I can say with absolute confidence that quidditch with eventually be in the game. It's just a matter of time.
@@Draidis Eh, *most* of the pieces for quidditch are in the game. There's only a couple times in the game, during the main story, that you actually fly with other characters and it is always programmed that you are following them while going slightly slower. Having 2 teams of 7 people plus the balls going at the same time with physics and AI play is incredibly different than a single character flying around with limited controls. In fact, the flying controls in Legacy would lowkey be terrible for trying to play quidditch. The AI would have to be super super dumb and have the other characters basically just stall in the background looking cool for every match to be a stomp against the player. The only positions that would actually feel okay to play would be keeper or seeker, and seeker would end up just being chasing the dadelian keys but on brooms.
@Laika Drake OH, no doubt it would still take a lot of work, it's not as simple as throwing some ball physics into the game. I know that. But I don't think the flight controls are as bad as you think and I do think they have all the pieces. Which is why I keep saying full expansion. Not some dlc. The surface work is done, the rest is still a whole Lotta big steps. Still, they wouldn't dangle all this in front of our faces so completely if they didn't intend to eventually put it in. I just can't imagine them doing that.
I found a note in one of the rooms mentioning about "I have tried to persuade the head teacher to allow quiddich.. blah blah" It then went on and mentioned about the guy that owns that room is a long friend of the head teacher and for them to try. I was wondering if this may of been hinting at a later quiddich!
I think quidditch is a game in itself. I can’t imagine how much more they’ll have to tweak the controls for the maneuvering system just to cater to an adaptive game like quidditch.. would be so dope if they did drop it
I hope they add quidditch to the story line as well, however I think this game is massively missing out on multiplayer. The game is amazing as a single player game, but adding just dueling in the arena with multiplayer or multiplayer quidditch would add a lot more players and give sorry mode players an option to play with or without multiplayer. multiplayer is a must need in this game even in an elden ring sense where you can summon others to fight with or against.
Honestly, I don’t know if it works in an RPG game where you’re playing as an individual. It would work as a sports game like FIFA or Madden, where you play as the whole team and swap to whoever has possession, they even made that quidditch game way back in the day. But Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG, you’re playing as a single PC. Programming quidditch, where each position is individually playable, sounds like a bloody nightmare, and to make each position engaging and fun is a whole new challenge. And I guess you COULD make it more like FIFA or Madden for this mini game, but it would be kind of weird to suddenly play as an entire team in what is otherwise a by the books RPG.
There is also a reference to quidditch in the menu, when the golden ball with wings (forgot the name) flies into the picture. It's obviously foreshadowing, that they will add it.
I'm surprised that the note in the Hospital Wing wasn't mentioned. Several lines were redacted by Headmaster Black, giving the impression in game he did this intentionally, which raises the question as to why did he do it then.
I honestly think that they will make Quidditch a separate game instead of DLC to Hogwarts Legacy. Because Quidditch needs to be either a sports simulator, like FIFA or NHL, or a multiplayer only game where each human player - is a team player. But regardless, this owuld require multiplayer and since HL is a single-layer game and advertised as such, then it is doubtfull they will make Quidditch a DLC. Well, at least that is if they won't add coop into HL before that. If they will add coop, then Quidditch will be a possibility as a DLC.
The problem is that as an actual sport Quidditch is nonsensical. That is why we have only had one dedicated Quidditch game in the entire franchise. Quidditch makes infinitely more sense as an addon to a single-player RPG because the only role in the game that has any significance is the seeker.

There's even makeshift Quidditch arenas in some of the coastal towns, so there will probably even be different arenas to play in, possibly even a league type of focused DLC. On top of all the Quidditch items and broom upgrades. Seems like they just wanted extra time to do it right.
The main quest of the game lasts until Christmas. After, you get the "side issue" of the House Cup, so that's in the early summer, nearly five or six months later. All fine and good. There's a five or six month gap between the end of the Main Quest and the secondary "end" of the game (house cup) where they can plug in all manner of large, expansion sized DLCs (prefer to just call them expansions so as not to make people panic over getting small DLC things like clothing items or crap like that that always should be just part of the main game anyway!). It would also be the perfect place to plug in Quidditch, having Headmaster Black say after Christmas that the season is now back open after he'd reconsidered it, and we get to play then. This would mean that what he says at the start of the Main Quest remains true, he just changes his mind after that Quest is resolved. As for paying for it? I'd be fine if that were the case, but I'd not be happy paying for a DLC that just contained Quidditch. If that were part of a larger expansion (new quest, fallout from your choices (a moral system!) etc) then great.

When I was a lil kid my older sister used to play a game on ps2 “quidditch World Cup” I have a feeling if they add quidditch to this game I’m gonna be very nostalgic
It’s also possible that, while quidditch is a great narrative device for a book or movie, it is actually a rather frustrating game in reality and doesn’t translate well to an actual game. Imagine scoring points for an hour, dominating, and then the opposing team just happens to get the snitch. Or, being a seeker, floating in the air for 15 min, waiting to see the snitch, and then an npc just swoops in and grabs it.
the rules are pretty stupid and if they dont change the core mechanic of the 150p snitch, I dont thin it will be an enjoyable game. the score literally doesnt matter until one team is up by 150p.
Given that there's already the cutscene in the beginning of the player's time at Hogwarts of the headmaster saying that there won't be any quidditch that year, I'd prefer to have the DLC that adds quidditch be unlocked after the player has completed the story mode. This being said, I'd also like to see that expansion include other multiplayer activities like wizard duels and chess.
just like the common room and dormitory look nice but you can't do anything there or Hogsmeade where you can't drink Butterbeer or in the great hall where you can't sit and eat there are so many things that are only half finished
Quidditch would need a totally different button set up then the game is at launch. Im about 50h in and Im still mashing sometimes as there is so many things to recall already. Quidditch will be multiplayer by dlc sometime,
you drink a polyjuice potion to turn into headmaster black to get into the headmasters room and Your asked by the flying professor if you’ve changed your mind about quidditch and that there could still be a small season. I could totally see a new dialog option being added.
Maybe don't add long tunnels, inside enemies, secondary puzzles to each side "treasure" (one piece of middling clothing), and just have the chest on the other side of the puzzle door you just opened. Then maybe, they would have had time to work on Quidditch.
I can't play quidditch with the current flight controls. If they give the option to look up and down with the mouse then maybe, but the controls make it difficult to fly if there is a lot of maneuvering.
imagine if they do a quidditch game thats stand alone where you make your team and do like a tournament style bracket system to end up in the world cup and have online to play against people across the world in quidditch like you would fifa or nba there was a quiditch game back in the day
Also there are conversations between him and the other teachers and notes about him banning it...if I read the notes of found correctly it seems the injury that caused the quidditch ban may not have even been involved in quidditch
Whether or not quidditch dlc is free or not, dropping it later is a smart move for the devs. they will have more time to perfect the quidditch dlc while getting info from players on how the flying mechanics and iron out bugs. This could lead to quidditch in the game being fantastic and boosting hours played. And this gives them the ability to wait until interest in the game drops then bam quidditch dlc comes out and now everyone is playing and talking about it again
As long as it is coming I'm fine with it. We got a pretty long story mode to enjoy because the dlc comes out. Cant wait!
Perfecting is fine but don't act as if its smart to not include it right away. It has been included in games before. It's not that hard to program a flying broom and get the physics right. Game developers have already programmed airplanes, jets, boats, ships, helicopters and more. It can be done if they gave it the proper resources. It would have been nice to have it at the beginning.

Nothing that would go into making quidditch would really translate to any other parts of the game, so any time spent on that specific subsection would be time that couldn’t be spent on a part of the main gameplay. It makes sense to focus on making the actual game good before implementing mini games

I’ve played 15 hours of Hogwarts Legacy so far and honestly there are SO MANY references to quidditch by NPCs and what feels like a lot of subtle hints that Quidditch will eventually come - I’m pretty convinced at this point

I think another reason quidditch isn't in the game is that the brooms needed to go a certain speed to feel useful to explore the open world, but that speed makes quidditch very difficult because the pitch at proper scale would be small for going that fast, and keeping track of like 20 npcs flying around that fast would probably be very hectic. You also kind of have to make the players seekers, because otherwise the match just ends randomly at any time due to npc getting the gold snitch.
I mean I’ve played career mode as a kicker in nfl before so I would def be ok not being a seeker and just bashing people
Or have a party where people can be refs, and if someone leaves a ref can come on and play plus that also might make for better refs 😂 when the AI takes over the again and makes better decisions.
Or just spectators than can fill in like a watchable lobby.

That’s more then enough time to cancel your pre-order. That said: it has been also confirmed that early in development, they were in fact working on several Quidditch game modes but has since been cut from the game, probably because they ran out of time to develop it if they also wanted to polish all elements that had been finished already

Honestly there’s so much they can add, between more quests in the future, more character customization, more characters to interact with. Plus more. It would be cool if they added a time turner feature where we could go to another timeline. All of this would take a long time so I think it’s cool, that they are taking their time on the game to make sure that everything is perfect

Honestly, the loss of Quidditch doesn't bother me that much. The game is 40 hours with story missions not counting the side quests. It will be fun to immerse in the world and get lost in its depth.

Quidditch is one of my favorite things in Harry Potter universe. And was bummed to hear, it’s not playable in the game. Hopefully it does in a DLC like you said in this video 🤞🏻

I’m actually quite glad to see so many people make an uproar for more features being added to the game. I personally hope for a Quidditch World Cup dlc I don’t mind paying honestly because I’m enjoying the game so far. I’ve barely scratched the surface but so many people and characters reference it and the Quidditch pitch looks stunning! If you're adding quidditch to the game, what do you do to fix the problem that catching the snitch is worth 15 scores and ends the game? For any other position to matter, one team must be beating the other by more than 15 scores. I often wondered why teams wouldn't just put three players in front of the three hoops and send two seekers after the snitch, since it's the only thing that matters.

I fully expect it to be added to the game. While I only have a few hours in game, the snitch flies around in the background of certain menus, and there's a store for getting sport gear with a snitch emblem. So I bet they'll add it in later
There is also a snitch in the Room of Requirement. as well as a snitch in the Gryffindor common room. they are all over the place!
It will come as DLC, you can bet on it. I think, that because of complexity, they want to have more focus on it to make it good. Hence post release.

Realistically it's gonna take 7+ years to make another harry potter game at least in terms of a mainline storyline game, Come out with paid DLC or make a separate Harry Potter Quiddich game that makes improvements on the 2003 game I NEVER played but has awesome region specific specials.
I feel like its a solid bet they'll be adding quidditch eventually. Another thing i think would make a cool expansion would be to make the black lake exploreable. Make a swimming/diving mechanic, add gilly weed or whatever, battle the little monsters down there, ruins and stuff to explore. Just an idea

me either I wasn't expecting the game to be so dark. when I did the quest to search for tobbs who was in the cave getting leech juice and heard his super depressing story about his abuse and horrible life just to find out he had died anyways and there was no way to bury him or kill the master for being so cruel I was so sad. defs was not ready for how sad and brutal some of the stories in this game are

The students just walk in circles. It's not quite Skyrim, it's much more of an on-rails game with the illusion of choice.

I think its very likely that they add quidditch later on. The reason I think they didn’t add it at release is because they want everyone to focus on getting fully immersed in the story and completing the side quests instead of spending all their time at the quidditch pitch. It would also be cool if they add a quidditch world cup feature where you got to travel to watch the world cup and go into those awesome tents! There’s so much they can do with this game they could even have your character play through their 6th and 7th years!
Tbh I'm not too fussed about Quidditch not being in the game. The way the sport is set up it's built around the seeker to an insane degree. Yeah in the books it makes sense as that's Harry's position and it's largely separated from the rest of the match. But I do wonder how you'd balance that from a gameplay perspective that makes it fun to play any other position.

Came here to say this. The game only makes sense in the books. I think a lot of people have their nostalgia glasses on here and aren’t seeing how hard it would be to put it in the game in a way that would be at all satisfying or rewarding. Creating a season would take up too much of the game and making it optional would likely result in everyone playing it once or twice and never touching it again

@@xXSubieSnacksXx Yeah, while reading the books, I understood that JK Rowling had no clue how sports worked. It's like creating a soccer game with no game clock. Someone outside the game is doing this puzzle, and gives 5 goals to the team he's doing the puzzle for. Well, obviously, in almost every case those 5 goals are the most important of the game, with most scores 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, or within 5 goals. So, winning the puzzle is really the only thing that matters, not the game on the field. You could be destroying the other team on the field 4-0, and lose 5-4 because the other team's puzzle master got the puzzle first.

Quidditch may actually become an online feature pvp thing. Would make a lot of sense and also make sure it wouldnt get old very fast
Let's be real here, Quidditch is a complete mess conceptually. The only way to make it work as a game is to subvert the rules of quidditch and only allow players to go for the snitch after successfully playing the field in the other roles for a while. If you don't do that the entire game is simply hunting the snitch which means you're really just doing a race against a single opponent next to a quidditch match.
Playing in the other positions isn't fun because you have no control over whether or not you win or lose the game if it's all down to the seekers, and positions don't rotate either, so it's not like baseball where you can strategize around the strengths of different players depending on who is doing what at the time.
It would be amazing to see this introduced to the game, there’s nothing like different modes etc to play in a game. All it does is just increases the life span.
Especially if it’s that well made, it could actually get competitive

I think the fact that Portkey Games is so prominent everywhere; in the logo, in every trailer etc. tells us that there's more games coming. Maybe even a Quidditch sports game, like FIFA or NBA? That would be pretty awesome.
I used to play the Quidditch World Cup PS2 game, that was pretty awesome. I think the 'sport' is really well thought through and actually lends itself as platform for a great sports game.
That's one thing to think about. Unless they made Portkey Games to literally just act as the holding company for this game, there *have* to be more games in the works for the wizarding world.

Quidditch is a fun thing to watch, but wouldn't function well in the game. Controlling the whole game would not be fun, since they should have added a quick-time event for the seeker, like in the previous games which in my opinion is very outdated and breaks the flow of the game. I think it would only work if your character could play as a seeker, but then again, you wouldn't have any effect on the ball palys apart from chasing the snitch. I'm hoping that they will find a good solution to put Quidditch in the game either by controlling a whole team or only 1 player.

I would love to see a version that worked, but let's face it - quidditch is a very poorly designed sport. You'd need to overhaul scoring to make any position but seeker feel impactful.

Honestly, I'd love to have a team just build a new wizarding sport from scratch with an eye on making a competitive e-sport - it's weird that their aren't more sports in universe, why not make one that is built game first instead of narrative first
Quidditch would not function well in Hogwarts Legacy for one simple reason. You can only look around horizontally while on a broom in Hogwarts Legacy. You can't move the camera to look up or down while in flight, so the very first thing players would find out if they tried to play quidditch in it is that they can't see shit going on.
I really Hope the developers see all the attention this game is getting and expands on the world a LOT! Or at least start on the next chapter. This game has the potential to be HUGE. This is the first game in awhile I am just sucked into the world. I usually play racing and flight sims. But something about walking around hogwarts looking at all the neat things, I can do that for hours on end. The forbidden forest is so fun to just go get lost! There is so much to do already, I would gladly play money for a DLC add ons. Especially to support the devs to keep going. This imo had the potential to be game of the year for a next few years. We really don't get many original idea games anymore. But when these greats show up it's glorious.
On the quest the caretakers lunar lament you can hear one of the nurses in the hospital wing saying quote “It’s a shame that mr black banned quidditch” and there was a person that said “I would of bet on hufflepuf
I strongly suspect it will be added later as paid dlc, specifically as a full expansion, not some small add-on. The reason I say this is because (as stated in this video) all the elements are already there, the field, the broom flying, even the uniforms (as shown but not spoken about in the video as well). The reason I think it will be a full expansion is because it would need to happen canonically AFTER the main storyline. As, it was stated that it is currently banned. So, it would need to take place in the future when it is no longer banned and that is not the kind of thing added as just a dlc add on. Besides, the fact that this game is going to sell gang busters doesn't in anyway mean that the devs (and more importantly the publisher) doesn't want MORE money when people absolutely will spend more money on something like this. Especially because something like this would likely have a suitably large development price tag attached, there is NO WAY it would be free dlc. That is just not happening, not in this world, not in this time. Maybe if the game flopped at launch and it turned out everything was a lie, MAYBE then it would be put in as free dlc to earn back good will (a-la Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky) but all the reviews are in and they are VERY good.
I also suspect (although I have no evidence of this, it's just a theory) that it will include a full quidditch tournament and storyline to go with it. I HOPE it will even include some kind of team management sim where you can pick your team and develop/improve players or even their gear as you progress. That's just me and my wishful thinking though.
Several of the teachers are trying to "convince" the headmaster, to open up for quidditch again. I bet the quidditch questline will begin with dealing with the headmaster and assisting those teachers.

@@Draidis Eh, *most* of the pieces for quidditch are in the game. There's only a couple times in the game, during the main story, that you actually fly with other characters and it is always programmed that you are following them while going slightly slower. Having 2 teams of 7 people plus the balls going at the same time with physics and AI play is incredibly different than a single character flying around with limited controls. In fact, the flying controls in Legacy would lowkey be terrible for trying to play quidditch. The AI would have to be super super dumb and have the other characters basically just stall in the background looking cool for every match to be a stomp against the player. The only positions that would actually feel okay to play would be keeper or seeker, and seeker would end up just being chasing the dadelian keys but on brooms.

@Laika Drake OH, no doubt it would still take a lot of work, it's not as simple as throwing some ball physics into the game. I know that. But I don't think the flight controls are as bad as you think and I do think they have all the pieces. Which is why I keep saying full expansion. Not some dlc. The surface work is done, the rest is still a whole Lotta big steps. Still, they wouldn't dangle all this in front of our faces so completely if they didn't intend to eventually put it in. I just can't imagine them doing that.

I found a note in one of the rooms mentioning about "I have tried to persuade the head teacher to allow quiddich.. blah blah" It then went on and mentioned about the guy that owns that room is a long friend of the head teacher and for them to try. I was wondering if this may of been hinting at a later quiddich!
I think quidditch is a game in itself. I can’t imagine how much more they’ll have to tweak the controls for the maneuvering system just to cater to an adaptive game like quidditch.. would be so dope if they did drop it
A Quidditch multi-player would be good
I hope they add quidditch to the story line as well, however I think this game is massively missing out on multiplayer. The game is amazing as a single player game, but adding just dueling in the arena with multiplayer or multiplayer quidditch would add a lot more players and give sorry mode players an option to play with or without multiplayer. multiplayer is a must need in this game even in an elden ring sense where you can summon others to fight with or against.

Honestly, I don’t know if it works in an RPG game where you’re playing as an individual.
It would work as a sports game like FIFA or Madden, where you play as the whole team and swap to whoever has possession, they even made that quidditch game way back in the day.
But Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG, you’re playing as a single PC. Programming quidditch, where each position is individually playable, sounds like a bloody nightmare, and to make each position engaging and fun is a whole new challenge.
And I guess you COULD make it more like FIFA or Madden for this mini game, but it would be kind of weird to suddenly play as an entire team in what is otherwise a by the books RPG.

There is also a reference to quidditch in the menu, when the golden ball with wings (forgot the name) flies into the picture. It's obviously foreshadowing, that they will add it.
I'm surprised that the note in the Hospital Wing wasn't mentioned. Several lines were redacted by Headmaster Black, giving the impression in game he did this intentionally, which raises the question as to why did he do it then.
I honestly think that they will make Quidditch a separate game instead of DLC to Hogwarts Legacy.
Because Quidditch needs to be either a sports simulator, like FIFA or NHL, or a multiplayer only game where each human player - is a team player. But regardless, this owuld require multiplayer and since HL is a single-layer game and advertised as such, then it is doubtfull they will make Quidditch a DLC.
Well, at least that is if they won't add coop into HL before that. If they will add coop, then Quidditch will be a possibility as a DLC.
The problem is that as an actual sport Quidditch is nonsensical. That is why we have only had one dedicated Quidditch game in the entire franchise. Quidditch makes infinitely more sense as an addon to a single-player RPG because the only role in the game that has any significance is the seeker.

@@thund3r94 I never said it was hard to understand. I said it does not make sense as a sport. It is a "team" sport where the only player that matters is the seeker. It was created as a narrative device for Harry Potter, not as an actual sport that would make any sense in practice.

There's even makeshift Quidditch arenas in some of the coastal towns, so there will probably even be different arenas to play in, possibly even a league type of focused DLC. On top of all the Quidditch items and broom upgrades. Seems like they just wanted extra time to do it right.

The main quest of the game lasts until Christmas. After, you get the "side issue" of the House Cup, so that's in the early summer, nearly five or six months later. All fine and good. There's a five or six month gap between the end of the Main Quest and the secondary "end" of the game (house cup) where they can plug in all manner of large, expansion sized DLCs (prefer to just call them expansions so as not to make people panic over getting small DLC things like clothing items or crap like that that always should be just part of the main game anyway!). It would also be the perfect place to plug in Quidditch, having Headmaster Black say after Christmas that the season is now back open after he'd reconsidered it, and we get to play then. This would mean that what he says at the start of the Main Quest remains true, he just changes his mind after that Quest is resolved.
As for paying for it? I'd be fine if that were the case, but I'd not be happy paying for a DLC that just contained Quidditch. If that were part of a larger expansion (new quest, fallout from your choices (a moral system!) etc) then great.

Quidditch, more dueling, more spells perhaps, but the one thing I want most is a multiplayer mode maybe specifically PvP dueling

When I was a lil kid my older sister used to play a game on ps2 “quidditch World Cup” I have a feeling if they add quidditch to this game I’m gonna be very nostalgic
It’s also possible that, while quidditch is a great narrative device for a book or movie, it is actually a rather frustrating game in reality and doesn’t translate well to an actual game. Imagine scoring points for an hour, dominating, and then the opposing team just happens to get the snitch. Or, being a seeker, floating in the air for 15 min, waiting to see the snitch, and then an npc just swoops in and grabs it.
the rules are pretty stupid and if they dont change the core mechanic of the 150p snitch, I dont thin it will be an enjoyable game. the score literally doesnt matter until one team is up by 150p.
Given that there's already the cutscene in the beginning of the player's time at Hogwarts of the headmaster saying that there won't be any quidditch that year, I'd prefer to have the DLC that adds quidditch be unlocked after the player has completed the story mode. This being said, I'd also like to see that expansion include other multiplayer activities like wizard duels and chess.

the size of the quidditch field and stadium seems a little scaled down compared to the movies
I wish they would add a sleep option to advance the time of day. Just for emersion.
just like the common room and dormitory look nice but you can't do anything there or Hogsmeade where you can't drink Butterbeer or in the great hall where you can't sit and eat there are so many things that are only half finished

Quidditch would need a totally different button set up then the game is at launch. Im about 50h in and Im still mashing sometimes as there is so many things to recall already. Quidditch will be multiplayer by dlc sometime,
you drink a polyjuice potion to turn into headmaster black to get into the headmasters room and Your asked by the flying professor if you’ve changed your mind about quidditch and that there could still be a small season. I could totally see a new dialog option being added.
Maybe don't add long tunnels, inside enemies, secondary puzzles to each side "treasure" (one piece of middling clothing), and just have the chest on the other side of the puzzle door you just opened.
Then maybe, they would have had time to work on Quidditch.
I can't play quidditch with the current flight controls. If they give the option to look up and down with the mouse then maybe, but the controls make it difficult to fly if there is a lot of maneuvering.

imagine if they do a quidditch game thats stand alone where you make your team and do like a tournament style bracket system to end up in the world cup and have online to play against people across the world in quidditch like you would fifa or nba there was a quiditch game back in the day
Also there are conversations between him and the other teachers and notes about him banning it...if I read the notes of found correctly it seems the injury that caused the quidditch ban may not have even been involved in quidditch
