Some bad luck, but overall another great day cycling in Japan. If you're interested in the protein cookies I'm eating today, I highly recommend them iherb.co/8LWRoUpE I eat them every day (and no, I'm not sponsored.. I just love cookies and protein haha)
Cheers from Toronto! It's great to see that you know how to crash properly. Of course, that only comes from years of experience! LOL The good news is that you'll heal very quickly, and that your beautiful BMC frame still looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing another great video, and I look forward to the next one.
What kind of facilities would you have at your job to check out your bike? At first glance, the damages just seem cosmetic. Hopefully, you just need some touch-up paint.
Is this annually race? Plan to participate (not for podium, just to have fun :D) after saw this video! It is a huge park! Could not find something like this in Fukuoka.
Similar races are held here multiple times throughout the year. And yeah, these large parks with cycling courses are fairly rare.. Lucky to have one nearby, but the open hours are pretty limiting
When the wife said no more racing for you I couldn't help but laugh. Guess it's time for you to just race against yourself on strava that's what I do. Definitely digging the course, it looks super smooth. Also liked the little bike check you did.
I used to race in Australia but have noted that the way Japanese people ride is often not terribly safe, so in such a mixed level event it's not hard to imagine a crash. I don't think they have many good role models like club riders have in other countries. In the club I was riding with, they had older guys who had been in the European pro circuit, Olympians and national race contenders, and these guys really helped out us new riders.
No one here knows how to ride in groups since there's no big group rides. And yeah, the club / mentor culture isn't quite as nice as it is compared to what I'm used to back home..
Accidents happen a tin of quick drying clear lacquer will do a wonderful job for you ,huge entries ,Japanese are so polite lovely people ,thanks loved the video.
Wow! that is such a nice bike park, nothing like that down here that I know about. The racing looks intense even for an amateur level. Stay safe & no more crashes. :)
A co-worker of mine has the SLR01 disk which has the integrated brake lines inside the handlebars and down the stem, looks really clean. (He is also running Di2) Maybe your next bike? The only thing he has mentioned about the bike was that the seat slips down a bit, I told him to use carbon paste...
Sounds like the dream setup, but not something I can afford quite yet since I want to get other bikes too haha. Regular stem and cables for me 😅 And yeah, these D posts need some carbon paste in there to stay in position..
"No more racing" Thuong chan looks very cool in her shades. I didn't realise cycling was so big in Japan. I have a few people out there, mostly teachers and salary men from Kyoto.
I would request a new fork from BMC since you work there. If not make sure you take off your stem and check the steerer tube. most of the time when you crash, the fork gets damaged around the bottom tapered area and the steerer tube where the stem bolts are compressing and the whole work will snap when you hit a pothole in the future! Especially you are quit tall and heavier than a short rider!
Holy smokes! Ouch! Yeah, mixing two level groups is not good but when someone goes down in front of you there's basically nothing you can do when there's no where to go. Glad you're ok, when you get a chance REALLY look at all the frame for those unwanted hairline cracks! Carbon is great but when ya go down it's something to lose sleep on lol, it's a horrible feeling actually... but looks like minimal damage thank god!! Loved the look on your wife's face lol, but that my friend shows that she really cares for you :-)
Glad you're ok and hope that bike is ok too especially Carbon frame. Oof Cant' wait for the Wahoo Element Bolt review. BTW, you ever thought of using a fitness smartwatch to go along with cycling?
They split the lanes with cones and cars' speed limit was 40-50 kph or so. I meant that sometimes there were events or other circumstances i.e. it was not dedicated to cycling all year long (not that snow and ice would allow that anyway :-) ).
We wish you have safe and fun ride, don't let this channel name change to two wheel crash. Joke aside Thuong need Meat Soldier shirt XD by Jimon Terakado

I think it's mainly just an acquired taste.. I used to hate it, but now it tastes fine. I find chocolate flavor seems to taste the best (for me anyway)

Man, nice to look at these old videos from when you were back in Japan. The format is way better than what you're doing now. The subtitles and stuff.

Thanks! :) It's definitely an acquired skill, but a very valuable one for sure.
As you were going down was your thought "Damn I wish I was recording"
Mine would have been...
Pretty much... LOL
Glad you're okay man! Your wife looked really worried and/or mad 😂
Thanks man! Maybe a bit of both haha

that's what I'm hoping too.. We don't have much, but I'll have the head mechanic look at it..
It's ok buddy, at least you have one!
GREAT racing video!!! Love the first person riding!!!
Thanks! :)
Awesome video. Lots of fun to watch these racing activities.
Thanks!

Another great video but surprised you did not have a spare inner tube which would have got you home?
I did, but the tire itself was punctured

thats why you dont ride ppls ass

Not sure, but seems like an interesting dude

Get well soon, you are young and will recover fast. No problem.

The wahoo has been really nice so far 😁
I feel no need for a smart watch for cycling, but maybe for running..
Chiba team Sohoku in the house 💪🔥

definitely been on a high note lately, time for some balance I guess haha

she hasn't gotten her new bike yet, but it's ordered.. Will take a few months though..

I never raced on anything nicer than a CAAD12 with mechanical Ultegra on crit style races. I cannot afford to be replacing Venges or Di2 bikes.
I ordered the cookie as well
