I love, when people like you talk about stuff you don't bother even looking into :)
and then make a video as if you know anything about anything.

If Materialism is thought about from an epistemological, metaphysical and Ethical perspective, close to everything poses a problem for it.
    Where is the color blue?
    Where is consciousness?
How can there be identity over time?
Is this version of materialism monistic?
How do you know materialism is True?
Scientific discoveries in quantum mechanics disprove materialism/atomism.
It's impossible to get an ought from an is.
Problem of induction, and pretty much all other philosophical problems cannot be solved in a materialistic worldview.
Like you pointed out something cannot come from nothing.
    Etc..........

      No, not really.

      "Where is the color blue?"
In the mind of the being using the term.
      "Where is consciousness?"
      Emerging from the brain.
"How can there be identity over time?"
      Memory.
"Is this version of materialism monistic? "
No. "In particle physics, an elementary particle or fundamental particle is a subatomic particle that is not composed of other particles.[1] The Standard Model presently recognizes seventeen distinct particles-twelve fermions and five bosons. As a consequence of flavor and color combinations and antimatter, the fermions and bosons are known to have 48 and 13 variations, respectively.[2] Among the 61 elementary particles embraced by the Standard Model number: electrons and other leptons, quarks, and the fundamental bosons. Subatomic particles such as protons or neutrons, which contain two or more elementary particles, are known as composite particles."
"How do you know materialism is True?"
      We know of nothing else.
"Scientific discoveries in quantum mechanics disprove materialism/atomism. "
No. Experiment with mysterious results does neither explain nor disprove anything. Especially not when the observations can be logically explained by a hidden variable.
"It's impossible to get an ought from an is."
      Not with a goal.
"Problem of induction, and pretty much all other philosophical problems cannot be solved in a materialistic worldview."
I see no problem of induction having a problem in a materialistic worldview. What other philosophical problems do you believe cannot be solved?
"Like you pointed out something cannot come from nothing."
It could be a cycling expansion and collapse of an eternal universe. And since we still can't explain dark matter, we can't say for sure our universe won't collapse.

@@LilFaerlyou’re saying that materialism is true because we know of nothing else? Isn’t that a fallacy?

@@jamesbishop3091 How so? The evidence for materialism is everything. I was just pointing out the fact that we know of nothing else. So what is the basis for your doubt?

are you on quest to show "there's no such thing as a stupid question" obsolete?

  • @LilFaerl
    @LilFaerl ปีที่แล้ว

No, not at all. Materialism have no problem with a cycling expansion and collapse of an eternal universe. And since we still can't explain dark matter, we can't say for sure our universe won't collapse.
