      One of the best! Hopefully you have some friends because they ripen and go fast!

    What kind of soil??

      Hi! Nothing special for plum trees. General advice is they don't like clay based soils but being in the industry just about every plant tag will say, "likes well draining soil". This Methley was planted in a lasagna based garden bed. We also have one that was planted in native soil with 24" of wood chips on top. That one is doing very good as well :)

      I'm a fan of prunes as well! But they ripen really late in the summer so its nice to have fresh fruit early in the summer!

      Yes, these trees are ginormous. They definitely do not lack in vigor or production. Highly recommend them :)

    Anyone growing this in Phoenix or in the low deserts of the SW? How do these trees handle the low desert summers?

    We planted methley plum 2 years ago but no sign of fruit yet. Last year it did not flower this spring it did flower beautifully but no fruit. What could be the reason? The tree is 6 ft tall and as much wide, looks healthy. Please help.. thanks!

    Hello. Thank you for sharing this. How long until you harvest? Is it cold resistent? We live in Central Texas, we have a 5 months old prunus domestica, do you think can be polinated with the mehley plum? sorry for many questions :)

      Hi! This variety should cross pollinate most any other Prunus domestica variety. Yes it is cold hardy to -20 :)

    I bought some "plumcots" from the USA just last year and one of them was shaped like an Italian prune plum but a bit larger than normal and plumpier. It was dark reddish as far as i remember and so is the flesh. The taste reminds me a bit of five alive fruit punch in complexity. Perfectly sweet (not too sweet....just right) and juicy.... I'm in the VAncouver BC area which is where I purchased the US plums from. They were so good and delicious I just totally forgot to take photos!! Any idea what variety that could have been?

      Hi Eric, sorry I wouldn't be able to tell you. I think at this point there are a lot of 'plumcots' on the market. I am not sure if they are the same as what DWN sells to the public. I would check on Dave Wilson's nurseries website and see if any of the varieties they sell seem to match your description.

    Thanls, what usda zone are you in? Or what kind of climate you have?

    • @restoringedennursery3551

      We are in Zone 8 and we get roughly 1600 Growing degree days each year. So in short we have a mild climate. :)

    Where did you get the methley seeds?

    • @restoringedennursery3551
      @restoringedennursery3551  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Grizzly Bear hi! Never plant by seed unless you have a breeding program or some other goal in mind. The fruit will not necessarily be similar and it will take 7+ years to produce fruit! These produced the first year after planting! You can get the trees from almost any mail order fruit tree company. Stark bro’s, burnt ridge, one green world or Restoring Eden, although our stock is larger and is more expensive to ship than traditional mail order companies. Hope this helps. Thanks!

      @@restoringedennursery3551 Thank you so much for your info. We plan to plant by seeds because my husband wants to enjoy gardening. But I did't know it will take that long to produce fruit. We might change our mind.
