Heya Everyone, Hope you all enjoyed the video. Again, I'm really sorry for the wait between videos, it's been really crazy for me lately but i'm gonna be getting back into the swing of things soon!! But have you played this game or it's gamecube port??? Let me know here!! >:3 ❤️
Apprantly this game was developed in 10 months, and is the first ever video game to use deferred shading. For 2001 standards, this game is impressive and was actually one of the games used to get people to buy an Xbox.
the xbox version actually has astonishingly good graphics. the lighting is a very similar method that games like Doom 3, Thief: Deadly Shadows, and Fear used, but even more ahead of its time by utilizing deferred rendering.
Race mode was brutal. I onlyanaged to accomplish a handful of the more forgiving ones, only to find that the cheats they unlocked can't be used to help you achieve the main game quests, and are really more for just replay effect...
Shrek on xbox, my God.. I gave an xbox to my friend 2 years ago for his birthday. He picked this game up, and we popped it in while we were downing a good amount of drinks. This game made me laugh harder than I had in a while. It had me unable to breathe. Shrek's movement is so insane we couldn't handle it SOOOO fast HAHAHHA what a gem
3:17 Well, it wasn’t made by the same DICE as this was made by the then new Canadian studio based in London, Ontario and not the Swedish DICE responsible for the Battlefield-franchise.
And to go full "Actually", this wouldn't have been DICE's early beginnings, anyway. Swedish DICE were around a decade before the Shrek game. Their beginnings were the Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions series which were on everything in the early-to-mid '90s.
Yeah, they had already dabbled in pinball simulators and arcade racing games (and one tech demo for the Matrox G400 video card) long before acquiring Sandbox Studios and turning it into DICE Canada.
This was a game I played a lot growing up. My siblings found a weird glitch/beta/secret room in the 2nd or 3rd area. It's the dingy level where those slingshot kids keep throwing rocks at you and call you names, and you need to "flush" them in these weird hatch traps. I don't remember all the details of how to access it, but I remember it was in a back corner of the stage by one of those hatch traps, I want to say near the wall where that robot guy is in the boxing arena. You jump and fall down into the abyss behind/around/next to that hatch, and you are stuck on the loading screen for what feels like an eternity before it finally loads you in a strange enclosed circular room full of chickens. There is no way out, no menu exit, no items. You have to restart the game to exit
God help you with Shrek treasure hunt. I have not heard good things about that one. I heard Shrek treasure hunt has a glitch that makes it impossible to finish.
I'd love to see some Aardman games. Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were rabbit is such an underrated licensed game. Amazing co-op, great graphics, music that sounds straight from the movie, great worldbuilding. It's such a good licensed game. I only played 2 Shrek games. Shrek 2 GBA which was quite good imo, certainly perfectly serviceable. And then there's Shrek 3 DS. I hate that game. I bought that game thinking it had to be decent cause Shrek 2 GBA was decent. It was so bad that it made me cry, at 12 years old. The touchscreen was used for everything, even walking if I remember right. There was barely any music, it ran poorly. It's my personal most hated game of all time
It’s so strange that this game got a T rating. Similar to how Tom & Jerry, Incredibles and Smash Bros. Melee got one. I get it that E10+ didn’t exist until 2005, but yeah it’s weird
Shrek is a pretty good film woth ots likable cast, as for this game (and every other dream works game) I haven't played it, but I can tell its not exactly the most fun game ever based off you and Nathaniel Bandy videos on it, I may still get it anyway, ill be waiting For Shrek 2 when that drops!
had this on xbox when I was 6. Didn't get past the first or 2nd world. Went back to it a few years later, still couldn't pass them and I always wondered why. Probably because I'm sure I felt back then that it was bad.
I find a weird how they only release this game on the GameCube and Xbox because the PS2 was out as was the most successful system in the world and still is so why didn’t they release it on there?
TBS! Your aunt did NOT have this Shrek game on Playstation. She either had it on XBOX or GameCube! This Shrek game wasn't available for any Playstation console!
You're either thinking about shrek 2 or shrek the third for ps2 or shrek treasure hunt on ps1 or You're from another dimension where shrek 1 was ported to ps2
WTF i forget about you and you upload 2 videos?!! I entered the shrek 2 video first thinking of it was of the frist, even e are nearly 6am (birthday, thats all i will say) i will see them with peace (near that phrase Espe talked to me) whT i was going to say? I dont know
Shrek 1 on Xbox is mediocre and hilarious at the same time, The Characters Sound Effects of the game are laugh out funnier like the guards and eggs in mother goose land, frankendrops from sweetville park, skeletons and witches in creepy crypt, Crown Prince’s hilarious yassified accent in crown prince’s castle, panicking knights in red / blue dragon’s castle, and the funny sound effect when you collecting hearts if your health bar is low. Shrek 1 on Xbox is good game, is no masterpiece but it’s entertaining to play especially for the shrek fans. Not the best game that shrek has done, but a good game with a laugh off sound effect comedy.

Wassup, dude. Hope you been alright. I had it on gamecube and never got passed enchanted forest. I was so young. Lol
I enjoy your content.
I love Dreamworks
Dreamworks is better than Disney

Yeah, that's exactly what i found out while researching for the video. It even says it was made in 10 months in the xbox manual
> "Game was impressive for 2001 standard"
> Literally shows the game being dunked on since the day it came out with a 49 on Metacritic
10 months of development is wild@@CrystalOmega

Get this -- the Extra Large port was planned for the PlayStation 2, but due to Take-Two Interactive buying TDK, the PS2 version was scrapped.
A friend of mine went out of his way to 100% the Xbox version. Race Mode made him nearly lose his mind.
Race mode was brutal. I onlyanaged to accomplish a handful of the more forgiving ones, only to find that the cheats they unlocked can't be used to help you achieve the main game quests, and are really more for just replay effect...
This game had some of the most impressive textures I have ever seen in a game, for it's time.
I feel like this game probably took plot points from the The old Chris Farley Shrek from 1998.
Plot points from the book.

I just love that the game had todd McFarland as the character designer
"Take thiss... smelly ogre"
"Oh, how rude"
I'd say something like "This game's mediOGRE" but everybody's said that already. Still, this was a pretty good review!
Super interesting video, apparently Shrek was the first console game to feature per-pixel lighting,
Shrek is love. Shrek is life.

Hey, I also herd somewhere that this game was originally was meant to be an original IP but was made into a shrek game early on.
That would explain the insane amount of work put into getting the new rendering methods working and the McFarlane designs being thrown in there

Great video I remember playing a Shrek game on Game Boy Advance.
I had that Chicken Run game on my ps1 lol

I oddly enjoy this game, at least the Xbox version. It's not great, but it's super goofy and I really like that.
I played the GameCube port. I know it's not very good, and yet, I absolutely loved it.
Lol i remembee that game it was fun as a kid but eh st least the graphics held up
1:48 to get to the point.
I had the one on ps1 the frame rate holy shit the frame rate
I had this game on launchday. Together with halo. I didn’t like Shrek. But the graphics of Shrek where amazing at the time
If there was a stench for this game it would likely be of weedrat
10:28 lol that's the voice of Mad Hatter from the Arkham games
Seems like a fun game but afterall I accept every game but are you gonna cover the Madagascar 2 Xbox 360 Game?
It's still a real fun game.
I played the game on the GameCube when I was a kid and I didn’t think it was that bad but I was a kid

Please talk about Shrek 4 DS/DSi

Are you gonna review the shrek treasure hunt for the original playstation?
Omg I remember my aunt had this game for playstation and the only thing that stuck in my mind was how Shrek ran
TBS! Your aunt did NOT have this Shrek game on Playstation. She either had it on XBOX or GameCube! This Shrek game wasn't available for any Playstation console!
@@zacktyler2810Well, it WAS going to be on PlayStation 2, but it was cancelled.

Do Shrek 1 to Megamind and Kung fu pnada 2 game Puss in boots game and madagascar 3 game will not be there
the atmosphere is very creepy hell naw D:::
This game is pretty much a glorified tech demo for the Xbox.

I thought the first Shrek game was pretty decent game.

mediogre
This game was horrible to me
I respect your opinion.
@@zacktyler2810 Don't get me wrong but the idea was good
@@FrenchFryCheese04 I know right. Lol

The graphics in the gamecube game were impressive.
