Single Member vs. Multi-Member LLC - What's the Difference?
What you need to know about single-member LLCs vs. multi-member LLCs is that these two business structures are very, very similar, with just a couple of significant differences. They are similar in that they are both pass-through entities which means owners only get taxed once, they both limit liability, and they both have nearly identical formation and compliance rules.
However, they are different in that single-member LLCs can only have one owner and multi-member LLCs can have two or more owners. Also, for multi-member LLCs, taxation depends on ownership percentage. This is different from single-member LLCs in which owners have 100 percent ownership and thus have to pay one-hundred percent of the taxes.
Further, multi-member LLCs have to file certain tax forms that single-member LLC owners don’t, such as Form 1065.
Watch this video to avoid overpaying to Uncle Sam and to get educated on how to leverage the tax code!

Hi Karlton. You videos are really great & informative. Just a side note on your sponsorship with Tailor Brands, I’m not pleased wit their services. The issue is that the leave you I the dark on detailed/itemized products/services. They do not provide any tutorials, leaving you isolated & searching for items purchased. I’d like to streamline my Start Up expenses in advance. I’m only sharing, because I subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work.

I need to start an LLC with three other partners who live outside of US and have no status here. If, in case my LLC gets a lawsuit, I am sure they could easily slip away and only I will have to deal with it. What would you recommend I should do? Thank you.

Believe it or not, it gets more complicated. As a tech contractor, I can be paid C2C (meaning, the company pays another company), or w2. (clearly diffrent rates). I'm thinking of using an LLC, or other company to share my income with my girlfriend, so, she can have more income, and I would have less. so, the corp, can have $0 profit as far as I care.

An accountant is not an attorney and not qualified to give legal advice. An LLC is a corporate entity. Only a custom drafted LLC is going to be valid. When the LLC does not have 3 members it is easy to pierce the corporate veil, if they are sued. You should only provide tax advice if you are a CPA. Your legal advice is WRONG!
