    In this video, I talk about how I got started in self-publishing through Amazon KDP and how many royalties I was earning along the way. I found success through a lot of trial and error, but I actually believe that there is way more opportunity now than ever before for newbies entering the market.

    Just signed up with AIA yesterday. Going to have my initial coaching call today. Your videos convinced me to take a shot. You come across as very honest and sincere - two qualities that are quickly disappearing in most TH-cam videos. Consider me subscribed.

    Could you please break down how you would go about building a brand in 2024? Would you build a website and social media around a winning niche?

      I'll put it on the list :) - I try and make things that everyone wants to see so I don't always go that specific, but I can include it for sure.

    How much extra laying around money does one need to get published?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They teach you to publish for free in the course so technically you don’t need anything. If you want to outsource most of it having an extra $500 to $1000 would be good. Personally I started with nothing and worked my way up.

    Trevor. Thank you for this video. I can’t find any books on Amazon in your name. Can you link to some of your books?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I don't publish anything in my name it's all pen names, and that's how 99 percent of self-publishers operate typically. Unless your brand is based around you and then I suggest you use your real name. If I create videos then thousands of people would just go copy all my books unfortunately, so I don't show them.

    Hi T - With regards to the stretch targets mentioned of 4-5k in the first 6 months and 10k in the first year, are we talking net or gross royalty income? if gross income what would a rough average net be from those numbers taking away expenses?
    Thanks C

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Were talking about net profit. A lot of publishing is super passive once you've launched a new product and there aren't many expenses as it's delivery is all handled for you.

    Thinking of using your link and signing up to AIA, what niche did you start on & what type of book did you do that does a few hundred or thousand a month? Thx

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have multiple books in different niches that do $500 to $5000 a month on average, and some explode in December. One I talk about a lot because its easy to enter is kids books, but really anything in demand you can easily make 1k a month off.
      If you sign up I do suggest you use my link because were working on more bonuses and a support group that will be released next month I just haven't announced it yet.
      I'll be releasing more free content soon on how to find niches that pay well.

    If I write health books, do you know if I with me to provide citations? Example, if I wanted to write a book about sleep, do I really need to back up everything and link it to a research paper?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to, but id say for anything health related it would be best practice to have citations. However, don't pretend to be a doctor or something if you're not, make sure it's clear you've just researched the subject.

    are you publishing physical copies or strictly digital? where are the buyers located - the ones who buy the brand/business once you have built it up?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You want to publish in every format possible but in most cases you’ll sell way more physical copies of your book then digital. The buyers can be anywhere in the world but in my experience a lot are based in the United States. This won’t make a difference to you as the seller though.

      @@TrevorSomerville I appreciate the reply. Do you have info to share (video perhaps) on your process from idea to market? do you physically print your own books or do you "self-publish" using a local print shop?

    If I turn a long podcast using AI into a book, is this considered against Amazon rules?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      Id suggest asking them about it and keeping track of those emails to avoid any problems. We don't know exactly how Amazon feels about AI writing entire books, but we do know that they hate anything plagiarized or of low quality to the reader.

    Outside of the AIA course, are there other costs involved, outside of marketing. These business seems like something I can do given my situation and just trying to plan for my life expected costs.

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Gibby. The course is setup in a way that you can publish books almost for free or if you don’t like writing and AI has made it even easier. However I’d say most people outsource as much of the process as they can afford.
      So you could be launching books for $50 or for $500 or $1500. The only real costs are if you’re running any ads and the creation of the book.

      @@TrevorSomerville what’s the turnaround time for ghostwriters and do they utilize AI in writing themselves or do they write organically based on the provided outline? Do they include citations as well?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  ปีที่แล้ว

      Turnaround time varies depending on the writer's schedule and the length of the book, but this is all discussed upfront. They aren't supposed to use AI and all their work goes through plagiarism, AI and manual editing checks to ensure the quality. They will also include citations with every book.
      I use the Urban Writers there is a discount code for them in the description (TREVOR5)

      @@gibbylee87 I don't advise it. Once you're making lets say 3-4k a month talk to your accountant about that, but prior to it I wouldn't bother. However I'm not an accountant and our tax laws maybe different depending on where you live.
