Vespa Rust Problems Piaggio Take Ten Months to Fix !!

- This video is all about how Rust affects brand new Vespas.
Piaggio don't really care about it and in fact blamed me for misuse. I didn't find this out until about nine months after I first tried to get the rust fixed. A brand new Vespa Primavera, normally the GTS go rusty, and going rusty after less than a year! This video is all about the final stretch of getting it sorted and how I still don't really know who is telling the truth about what.
The only thing I really know is that you should never give up. I think that Piaggio were counting on me just giving in, but I paid for a new Vespa and I don't expect it to start going rusty so soon, if at all!

Rust problems with Vespa GTS are very common, but it seems that a rusty Primavera is a little bit more rare. Maybe that should have made them more keen to sort it out.
Your persistence is admirable. You must have been very disappointed. I have had my 300 GTS from new four years ago and treated it straight away with ACF 50 and a time or two since. I have just given the underside a good clean prior to an application of Waxoyl and thankfully there is not a hint of rust.
Well I am glad I saw this, I was about to put money down to buy a new one, not now, its going to be a new Honda, not as good looking as a Vespa but I cannot tolerate rust like this.
There just isn’t enough protection underneath. They should use anti rust primer. Stone chip paint base coat then clear coat ontop. That’s what I’ve done on my Vespa ET2 I also filled the panel gaps in with filler so it’s all smooth. Whole inside of the frame has been ground back anti rust primered then I’ve under sealed it. Will probably last another 24 years
I confirm the problem. Bought a 2020 vespa primavera 2 years old with multiple rust spots and massive rust underneath
I was considering buying a 300 but I notice a lot of people with similar complaints. Too bad …I would be pissed after paying a premium price for such a little scooter….I will look elsewhere. Thanks.

They rust but only after 10 years or so. That looks like a factory fault with paint or something.
I've got an et4 which I'm restoring and it has massive holes in it but it's been kept out in the rain for 2 years with 20k on the clock.
Hopefully on yours it's only surface rust and not inside the body work
It’s a strange thing I’ve a 2011 with no rust yet a work friend has a 2016 with minor rust from stone chips.

After 2016 all vespa have electrostatic painting so they don't face the rust problem.
It's a 2018 model and I know many people with 2019, 2020 models who also have rust. It's a problem that is still around a great deal I am afraid.
my primavera alsot got rusty.. idk why vespa build quality so bad, even the chrome rusty so much, not like my japanese bike, 15 years no rusty

Mine was about 18months old when I bought it but like you mine is permanently garaged and very rarely gets wet. Very poor quality underneath, I've seen ones with holes underneath! Well done for getting it sorted. Mine is out of warranty now but wish I'd pursued it more when I first got it. Great result. I've just had my MOT and all the centre stand is rusty and underneath metalwork is poor.
Not trying to be a dick here but you could just had bought a spray can and spray over it so the corrossion wouldn't do more damage as it is doing now without a layer of protection. I understand the issue tho with the more modern scooters.
Unfortunately they are already rusting from the inside when they are sold so the corrosion just continues whatever you do. At least I know I'll never buy another one!
You supposed to buy a 5000 euros vespa and have 6th sens to know about rust and exactly where it starts and put more money to protect it?? Are you drunk or something ? ?
