Isn't that masochism, the earning of spiritual brownie points - the more the better. We might as well hunt for trouble and see how much we can take before we snap! Just remember that we are made of dust, not metal. There is such a thing as determinism (everything is fixed in advance and the ends always justify the means). I think he does mean chosen before we were born...we were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world. God knows and sees everything before it happens.
Dear Mary, I believe that we all were chosen, ALL! But not all will stay on the path. And there were some that were born of Satan these are the ones that define with out a doubt. Yet God says, Do not judge, meaning only He knows ones heart. God's desire is that none will perish, surely Moses, The prophets, the apostles, were literally chosen before birth, like David. But because of Jesus Christ we all have a chance to be just as great in God's Kingdom. Even if one is very small, tiny , they are still great. What if you through out your whole life only led one of your girl friends to Christ? And what if the whole meaning of your birth was to do just that? To God. This is great.
I like the way he reads the messages but he is wrong with the scripture where Nebuchadnezzar said there are four in the fire it's not the son of the gods it's the Son of God that needs to be corrected .
Who are all you people? I've been going through a sifting being weighed on the scale and have been found wanting. I feel very close to the end of my life seeking Him now every hour. I go back and forth knowing I'm hell bound and then happy that I'm heaven bound. After hearing this now I know I'm hell bound. My whole life has been spent as a loner, I conquered the sea and the sky as an expert skydiver truly living on the edge. I've lost 42 buddy's skydiving. Now I see my only goal has been just me, self seeking. I find myself craving for what you people have. I always believed the one thing that was sacred to me was God. But I've never known what you people talk about. A true hatred for sin. The Holy Spirit living in me! What do I do now? I can't trust myself. I'm the person Spurgeon warns about. All the Furnace I've gone through has not really drawn me closer. It hardened my heart.
You said you can't trust yourself . That's a much better place to be than someone who thinks they can trust in themselves. You see something wrong with your heart it seems you are saying. Maybe there is a seed of regeneration there dwelling in you. The wicked don't see anything wrong with their hearts. I pray for a new heart almost daily
