I like the hair braiding scene because for a kid it's more than just about being broke but about what comes with being broke. The uncertainty, the stress the insecurity and not feeling like you have a stable life. All of that compiled with the fact that this is not because of decisions that as a kid one made but someone else made for you. It just hits close to home but also that it's harder to feel loved and safed in a home with not just mental but financial struggles
The acting is so raw and mundane just with these few clips. It’s very close to home. The way the cast interprets the dysfunction between them through the facial expressions and body language just shows they know their craft. These scenes are very believable just with the dialogue and the setting is relatable. People may criticize the storyline or the prose but the execution in the acting is beautiful to watch. Monique and Glenn brought a level of intensity to this film that Fortified every scene. Monique brings forth the uncomfortable emotions to the forefront and Glenn is such a masterful force in anything. Watching Glenn transform was simply mesmerizing and terrifying.❤❤❤
That's what really attracted me to this film. It felt like some scenes directly pulled from my own home. The dinner scene with the slap at the beginning just felt so uncomfortable but so realistic as well
@@ojd88the prose and cgi effects could have been way better but the acting 🎭 was seriously on point. I didn’t doubt a word these actors said. I feel this would’ve been a better familial drama than horror film.

I wish this movie was more like a family drama than a horror movie. The dynamic between Andra and Glenn felt so real I hope both of them got recognition for their brilliant work as Ebony and Alberta!
I loved this movie! To be honest, I think it didn't even need the exorcism/paranormal (although it was a nice addition), as the real drama of the single mom family in a complex and very difficult situation was already an intense battle in itself. Acting was so good. Glen's character was fantastic, as many others. So the first half of the movie could even stand on it's own as a proper drama. I just wish the older siblings had a bit more time and character development, as their acting was also great. But I understand people often struggle with long slow-burn movies, which I love though. Special effects were also great, especially the demon transforming into the grandma. That looked so nice.
The only good thing about this movie is the brilliant acting from all ladies. The hair braiding and Alberta’s death were powerful scenes, but did not make up for an otherwise lackluster movie.
I grew up in a funeral home house so it takes a lot to scare me. This was not scary “AT” all! The only thing I took away from this movie is to start dressing my age at “58” bc I own a few outfits I saw Glen's character wearing 🙄
