Where are you getting your information from, this is a mixed crowed of people from different social and economical classes in Rio? You might be overthinking or exaggerating a bit, the water in the water tanks on the roof does not come from rain water. Rio is also a metropolitan city trains, buses plains and automobiles sky scrapers, favela and million dollar homes. I know half the state’s population is very poor and yes there are different extremes of poverty than in America but I wasn’t referring to America half of the world lives in similar conditions or even worse. The government actually provides the water and electricity to the favelas for free,the least they can do I know. I’ve also been in some homes in the favela and they heated water by use of an electric shower head.
