Hazrat Awais Qarni Some Information...
He was born and grew up in Yemen. Imam adh-Dhahabi said of him in Siyar A'laam an-Nubala' (4/19): The exemplary ascetic, leader of the Taabi'een of his time, one of the pious close friends of Allah and one of His devoted worshippers.
Owais al-Qarani, also spelled Uways or Owais, was a Muslim from South Arabia who lived during the lifetime of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Uwais al-Qarni Mosque in Raqqa is his burial site, as he died during the Battle of Siffin there.
Uways spent last years of his life in Kufa. He was martyred in the Battle of Siffin in 37/657, while he was 67. There are some places claimed to be his grave. As most of the reports indicate, he was one of martyrs in the Battle of Siffin, so the grave in al-Raqqa, Syria; to the left of the grave of 'Ammar'.
