This was absolutely terrifying. We were in the Swanston Street McDonald’s and heard this constant thunder. We looked out the window on level 2, and just watched the trees outside St Paul’s cathedral disintegrate. After it finally stopped, we called our parents to let them know we were ok, but also that we couldn’t get home, as all the city train stations were flooded. Having to cross the torrent of water running down Flinders street was a struggle too!
The flood did NOT come from the melting hailstones, it came from the intense rainfall that this storm produced. Storms that are strong enough to drop a substantial amount of hail also drop a substantial amount of rain too.
I REMEMBER THAT DAY VERY WELL. MY COMMODORE WAS ABSOLUTELY PELTED ON IN LONSDALE STREET. AND NOT SINGLE ONE DENT! HOWS THAT FOR TOUGH HOLDENS!! (I WAS AMAZED ACTUALLY!)
No we never have tornados hurricanes tsunamis we have little very little and rare earthquakes but are earthquakes happen for only like a second so we’ve never had this bad tho
People think Australia's all hot and outbacky. It's not the same in Melbourne. It goes from hot to cold very fast
Luka Martin so true
