so superb or passat ?
Not to be mean to them, but it looks like if Chins made a car inspired by a BMW grill but had to change it up so it did not look obvious.
Honestly this looks like a massive step up from the Passat, especially inside.
Why is huge step ahead, both have the same materials, design are different
I personally think the superb Sedan is a great idea as the passat doesn’t have a sedan. How ever I think the superb is good as an estate but the new passat will be better as an estate
Personally I prefer the design of the passat.
Thats until you touch the plastic materials in all skodas
except it won't . the lack of sound insulation in Skoda's is beyond annoying and certainly not a step up from anything. Road noise is awful.
Combi looks like a Ford Mondeo estate from the side . . . .
Both are most boring cars... Go with KIA - same quality for half price
Ok this looks way better than the passat... Love the design of the Skoda !
Phyiscal climate/volume control switches are just superior. And the fact you can reconfigure the dials is just genius. Kudos to Skoda for that!
It s the same in the bugatti chiron
Very timeless design, could imagine this car looking great in 15-20 years. Great job by Škoda, must be one of the best-looking sedans on sale right now!
Great job by VW
@@richie_bodo That's what he said.
Very boring design. Doesn't look like a product of 2023.
you expecting a 2023 skoda to last 15-20 years? lmao , you would be lucky to get 10yrs from one and if its a tsi drop that down to 7yrs. doesn't matter how good it looks they are still mechanically garbage with engine and transmission going out sooner than 100k.
Already looks like a 2014 design, what you on about? This is not timeless, this is conservative boring.
Defined success, absolutely. Better design than Passat, intuitive air condition controlers, nice quality... And still spacious and smart.
The Hatchback looks like a facelift of the last model. The wagon looks almost the same as the new Passat. But the interior looks A LOT better than the Passat. Great car.
If not better than Audi interior lol, crazy times
This is the Passat.
The first sentence is what exactly i thought.
The new Passat is being built by ŠKODA on the same line as the Superb. Bonnet, front bar and the rear bar/lights are the only different elements on the exterior
@@AledinJeckafinally someone else realised this, thank you
A jealous American here with a 2010 Passat estate & 2018 Golf. Have always loved the design of Skoda.
This looks more premium both inside and outside than the new 5 series
😂
Суперб рядом не стоит с бмв 3 серии. О каком бмв 5 может идти речь?
What? No ways
Bruh this looks like a big Skoda Fabia
Hey man come off the drugs 😂
Wow. Skoda has really been on a roll lately. I love both the new Superb and the Kodiaq. And when the time comes to replace my current car, I will definitely consider Skoda.
Idk how but they seem to have better interior quality than vw and audi lol
@@senoow4215I always thought of Skoda as (a cheaper VW) but it’s indeed more expensive looking
@yes8032 it is below VW and Audi in the VW Groups "hiearki", but I'm glad they are investing in the Skoda brand 🙏 really love their evs
@@senoow4215Not anymore, they are overtaking VW last few years, even prices are now as same as VW models within the same segment.
@@Dejanthedj VW-models seem to be more quiet though
This gives me last gen 5 series vibes, as in beautiful and timeless. Great job Skoda
Literally thought the same!
Totally agree!!
Is it just me or have Skoda come up with the best interior of any current car with this one?
Wow, this looks like what the new 5-series BMW's should have looked like, at least in the front. Great design.
Totally agree. As a G31 5 series owner.
No way you just said that
The last 5 series is very ugly , beside this new superb
I swear i have a 2017 octavia and its amazing, i’d love to get a superb next.
I mean skoda is almost one of the only brands that have “sedans”with a liftback with such insane capacity and rear space leg room. No need for a bulky suv
It's fascinating how Skoda has evolved over the years. This model exemplifies how they've managed to balance a touch of luxury with practicality. It's genuinely giving other brands a run for their money. By the way, did anyone else notice the attention to detail in the lighting design? 🔥 #SkodaRising
Damn…Skoda is the New VW? It look so much better than the Passat. Thanks for this first look!
Skoda surpassed VW long time ago!
This is the ultimate dad car. I will look forward to picking a used one of these up in 5 years when I at least hit my 30s 😂
I agree, Skoda superB is realy a Dad car..i own superb 2018 combi even though i am just 30 but man these cars are amazing and not expensive with what they offer
Thanks Tomas for this excellent video. I currently have my second Skoda Superb, in which I do an enormous mileage (around 35,000 miles/56,000 km a year). Overall they have both been great cars, but they have been let down by very poor software. I am looking to buy another new car in the next year, but have been concerned about buying another Skoda due to the ongoing software issues. When I bought my current car with the virtual cockpit in 2021, it was awash with software problems. These varied from the satnav wandering off after half-an-hour into the middle of nowhere, through to dropping phone calls mid-conversation all the time. Also the predictive adaptive cruise control would just randomly apply the brakes in the middle of the motorway as it thought there was a change in the speed limit! Then there was (and still is) the issue of the various assist systems just switching off at different times as you drive along and for no apparent reason. Also, a couple of times, the satnav has stopped providing interactive traffic information for maybe a week at a time and then randomly starting working again. The biggest and most frustrating problem was a crazy issue that took over two years to fix involving the 'Travel Assist' system experiencing random failures which resulted in constant warnings as you drove along with a constant litany of aural 'bings' - sometimes as many as thirty times in ten minutes. It nearly drove me insane! Mercifully, that is now fixed.
In small steps over the last two years or so, Skoda have gradually addressed themselves to this multiplicity of software issues, but they are still not fully there yet. This latest Superb looks great, but is very high tech - something Skoda have at times appeared unable to manage, frankly. Getting Skoda to reply to queries about problems with the software is almost impossible. I often look at car reviews, but they rarely cover the issues that real owners face over any period of time. I will definitely go for a test drive on this new model when it appears in showrooms, but I will need to be very convinced that Skoda have a handle on the technical aspects. These 'smart dials' look a good idea, but they need to work very well, without a glitch. Also, the infotainment system is potentially very complex and it has taken Skoda around two years to remove all the bugs that were there on my current model with the virtual cockpit and Columbus navigation system. As it is, they still have problems with very slow-to-start software and very limited map updates for the satnav (gps). In theory they update the map every month, but nowhere I ever go through ever seems to actually get updated! New roads, housing estates etc are way behind the 'competition' in the form of Apple Maps or Google Maps. Where I live was built over a year ago and is still not on the map yet. Furthermore the algorithms used to calculate delays or arrival times on the internal satnav are very poor compared to Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps. I travel a lot around the south of England and in Europe and am continually in heavy traffic. Due to the limitations of the onboard nav system, you have to have a mobile phone with one of these Apps running in the background to ensure you are taking the correct route, particularly if there are diversions, as the internal satnav routing is never as good. Also, the Apps they provide (News, Weather etc) are embarrassingly slow to load (sometimes in excess of two minutes for each one) and are effectively useless. Furthermore, the voice activation for things like making phone calls, setting temperatures etc is absolutely useless - it rarely works and I have stopped using it. The predictive adaptive cruise controls still occasionally just puts the brakes on for no good reason. In summary then, this new Superb looks fabulous, but the jury is very much out for me over whether all the features will actually work day-to-day. When I go for my test drive, I have no doubt the car will be a wonderful driving experience - I take that as read. It looks beautiful inside and out, but that is not really my concern. My attention will be on the software and electronics to make absolutely sure they actually work as promised.
I really like the concept of the three "adaptive" knobs in the middle console. It's a great way of having physical controls for your most important functions while still looking sleek.
Really nice interior, no crappy shinny plastic, exterior is quite nice too, def a car id buy
Wonder if skoda will ever bring vehicles to the US. Good looking vehicles
its up to volkswagen
All those details in the interior look amazing. This is something I really start to miss with the newer models of other german competitors. Thank you for the video :)
The current Skoda is a great/timless looking car. Skoda have done a great job not changing much as it looked good before (sort of like the new Range Rover).
Just ordered the outgoing current gen Superb with the 206kw and exterior looks-wise I'm glad I did, but that interior is definitely a great step-up in this new generation. At least there's something to look forward to, when it'll come time to swap for the new one. They definitely didn't mess up and I'm happy to see it'll still have good old petrol engines selection.
Great job Skoda. Lovely finish, thoughtful design touches, great blend of touch controls and buttons. Great value relative to its peer group. Attractive proposition. Well done Thomas. ❤️
The interior looks much nicer than the new BMW 5 series. Great job BMW 😂
They hit the nail on the head yet again!! no surprises there!!
The cars have been officially presented today and on the very same day you already have a full review of them!
Kudos to your work! 👏
Very cool that it has physical controls for the AC and the reprogrammable button is really clever. Looks very well overall. I would take this over the new BMW 5 series for a long range cruiser.
Meh, the engine choices unfortunately dont compare well to the BMW.
M340i with the Beeeee58 is a far superior product but at a far superior price... The same with 540i. You would rather take de Skoda because the piggy bank is not fat enough for the beemers
Once you drive with 5 series for 1000km in one day and then again with Skoda, there is nothing to discuss which one I'd rather have. BMW is far better but it also costs a lot more.
Me too. Never was too much of a Škoda fan myself, but this puts the new BMW 5 to shame. The interior looks much better than the new E class, too. Of course, might feel different in person.
@@sasopermeI doubt you've driven a 1000 km in the new BMW 5 or the new Superb.
The aero team did an amazing job with this. The massive drag reduction (10% for the hatchback and 15% for the estate) doesn't only translate to a better fuel efficiency but also to a noticeable quieter ride especially at higher speeds
Nice-looking car. Time will tell what VAG has to do to avoid Superb demolishing Passat's market share. Let's be honest, new Passat is just a copy of Superb (not the other way around). As a weird fact, why rear climate controls need to lag one generation back in VAG cars for years now? Nevertheless, this is my current favorite VAG model by far. Will be eagerly waiting for a drive review.
really well made review, thank you for being so reliable Autogefühl! There is something comforting about listening to Thomas now for YEARS and still getting great quality! Is there any information about the price?
So happy to see that Skoda retained the temperature and ac controls. Really like the middle button configurable if you want. Really like the fact they have not moved too far away in design from what was already a great car. I own a current Superb and love it. Will definitely be o e I look at when replacing mine next year. Great review Thomas. Seems you ran out of time at the end 😊
Sedan looks reminiscent of a BMW 3 G20. Very nice.
Top Review! I have seen some review about this car but this is one thorough. I really feel like, I want this car 😂
Thanks 🙏 please recommend our channel!
From outside looks more like facelift, but inside is awesome. Very good physical controls, not a crapy touch sensitive. especialy on the steering wheel. And that programable middle knob is pure awesomnes.
Super review Thomas !!
Wow, that interior is amazing! Real buttons, separate climate controls, it doesn't get better than that.
VW screwed up so much that now Skoda family styling looks better than the Audi's one
Really dont like the front… looks very strange but thats one sexy fastback… In grey its just amazing.
Inside in brown reminds me more of BMW than Volkswagen and thats a good thing. Looks great
Me too especially the lower front portion.
Physical A/C controls, bravo!
Volkswagen should import it to North America as a Volkswagen model. Maybe VW Skoda! North America needs such a quality car from VW!
As an owner of a 2016 Mk3 Superb, it's good to see they've made some small improvements without ruining what is a very sensible (and capable car). Not enough to make me want to upgrade though - but a good option for those who do more miles
They managed to make such a classy car!
I have the previous iv model and want to know if the new one remembers the selected drive mode when restarted? The old model always goes back to Normal after shut down and that is a bit annoying.
These are beautiful looking cars. Great video.👍
The Ice tea yellow is quite a good fit for the superb. Initially I thought they revived the old Sahara beige which looks kind of similar.
Wow this looks really nice
quite a step up on previous models, especially the interior (rear badging seems to be following what Ford did a couple of years back with the Focus MK4, with the large letters) . cracking review with great information as usual Thomas. The grey colour looks 'Superb' 😁
It looks great!
Regarding “hatchback vs fastback” in the UK. About ten years ago I had a Skoda Rapid hatch which I’d have argued was a fastback as most people assumed it was a saloon until I opened the boot. The irony of that car was that it actually had more space than the combi version, which in the UK they called a fastback…
Thank you Thomas, right after the world premiere. For me the car looks great. I have Octavia 2016 and it is time for upgrade. 99% going for the estate. Hope soon will come the petrol and diesel engine drive review.
Looks good. It was a bit dark. Can you still get load cover under the boot floor and us there still the net option behind the front seats? Thanks
Thanks for another great review. In terms of space, is the Skoda Superb or Kodiaq more spacious? And do you think that three child seats can fit in the backseat of either of them? Thanks for your reply:)
I feel like the new superb is one of the first Cars without any flaws this year (for the price). The whole package is extremely well executed for what it’s supposed to be.
I see no reason to get the Passat
Nice car inside and out, and nice review too!!
Wow! Skoda made it again, this car is simply Superb ;-) I really love the physical knobs for AC, and their little screens inside and multifunctions... So called "premium" brands can learn from Skoda designers how to create an interior for the driver, not just to mount a silly big screen that's cheap to manufacture, but nightmare to use (says the user of 3 series with iDrive 8).
Only one thing that I have a huge problem with - the naked metal on inside of upper door frames (the same in new Passat). In my opinion, that's unacceptable in this class. I don't get it - simple piece of plastic would change the whole impression to a much more premium level! Skoda - why you keep this thing?!
Skoda Superb is the nicest taxi, quiet, comfortable and so much rear legroom. The design is super safe but it will no doubt continue to be a class-leading car to ride in
Mamma mia the sedan looks stunning ❤❤❤
Looks great!
Great review! Clean and objective enough video! One major question here, but also on your kodiaq video. What is the towing capacity of the 1.5 mild hybrid and the plug in hybrid? In the Netherlands we do not get the 2 liter petrol or 2 liter diesel anymore, thus towing capacity of the smaller engines are important. Thanks!
Thomas, Great presentation as always. One would argue that Skoda exceeds the standards of its "owners"; love it.
Cheers m8!
Wow Skoda how thoughtful of your engineers are 👌. I never considered Skoda as my next car but hey it melts my ❤
The interior is beautiful. And the multifunction knobs are genius.
As always a good review. The exterior is as expected - aerodynamic but keeping with the Superb look. I really like the interior for this price point, especially if it had microfibre seats, and buttons! Good effort, a bit dull but quality which it always has been. I would definitely have this over the Passat.
I have B3 superb and love this one , stunning, would love to upgrade to this one
Skoda did a fantastic job, in and outside. I would take this over the Passat every day
Thank you Thomas!
An excellent review as always. The fact that they have reverted to dials on the centre console to control the heating and air-conditioning is a very good thing. Hopefully the remainder of the VW group will revert to dials as opposed to the ludicrous and dangerous configuration of having these controls within the infotainment system. the programmable nature, particularly of the middle dial is an excellent innovation, I would very much like one of these new vehicles.
The hatch trunk on a sedan is absolutely fantastic. I first had a car with one with the Seat Toledo and I can’t really get to part ways with it for a newer Jetta or Passat. Škoda really gets my purchase here.
perfect family car. great job.
Great quality and nice looks
Great review
Thanks 🙏 please recommend!
coming from a 2013 octavia, this will be a significant upgrade for me, can't wait for availability
Does Superb get the acoustic glass in like in new Passat B9 (an option)?
Uber … solid . The kind of interiors are just perfect to me. The right physical buttons and dials on the dash . Looks sporty neat and uncluttered. Well done Škoda ❤
I always imagined those adjustable dials, and why don’t car manufactures implement them, looks like Skoda stole my idea😂. Btw amazing and honest car, great interior and exterior design by Skoda much better than Passat at least in my oponion.
Getting BMW 5 Series vibes :)
Superb video, although the ending was a bit abrupt.
Love that they have NON-TILTED infotainment screens! Feels like every manuf is tilting it towards the driver seat.
i love it!
So, they've made it 90% like the Octavia RS.. very nice.
Just bought a skoda slavia in India. Love it.
The interior is very good on this car, I think it is much better than the golf and passat. They have done really well and no touch buttons.
The interior is fantastic, much better than VW
Waiting for full review, it looks gorgeous. I live in Czechia and Slovakia so I see Superbs everywhere and I never really liked the current generations, they all looked unfinished. But this one, man they finally got the design tweaks right and the result is amazing.
Looks better than most cars from present , i like it
Looks very nice
Looks good. Will it come as Scout as well?
Does this one also get the laminated side windows?
Does it not have the 2 in 1 trunk in the fastback like the older ones?
So nice they haven't caved in to split headlight trend. This looks nice and clean
Skoda is killing it lately. Superb designs!!!! Pun intended 😅
Seems like a really great balance between the good from digital and the good from old trusty physical knobs!
New superb now looks like the new octavia
Hi Thomas, nice review. Can you please answer what is the maximum range you can achieve in the phev version, with empty battery+winter tyre+negative 5 deg c temp+130kmph speed?
Thanks! Well i gave an estimate, driving test will be in a couple of months! 60-80 km realistic maybe?
@@autogefuehl thank you for the response, but I am not concerned about the electric range but petrol range with empty battery, driving in autobahn mode winter. Looking forward to see an update.
the colour on combi one is stunning. I never liked superb but I would definitely take this version
Like your reviews! What would be interesting to know is distance between back seat inner isofixes. That very much defines the usability of the back seat for families with more than one child seat.
interior looks really good
Now, with all of this cool stuff on the new Superb, we have huge expectations for the new A5 B10. Hope they reveal it soon! 🔥😮
