Helicopter in Iranian president's convoy suffers ‘hard landing’ in East Azerbaijan province

- Iranian state television says a helicopter in the convey of President Ebrahim Raisi had a 'hard landing,' without elaborating.
According to a report in Reuters, rescuers are trying to reach the site where the helicopter landed in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran while travelling with the president.
The country's Foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian was also reportedly with the president in the helicopter.

Oil up 1% on the news.. Evidently the oil traders aren't sure this was an accident. I find it hard to believe they haven't reached the crash site after 5 hours considering two other helicopters were part of the convoy and should have a good general idea of where the other helicopter went down.

The Iranians are saying the helicopter with the Iranian president's party was forced to make an emergency landing due to weather conditions which are now hampering search and rescue attempts.
The weather today was cloudy with light rain (Weather Channel). near Jolfa, on the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan where the "hard landing" happened. This is not the type of weather that could force a helicopter down or hamper search and rescue efforts.
