    I want to see you add bone meal and see if it actually makes a difference like it should, I grow a lot of onions and garlic and sweet potatoes which like bone meal and i want to know how much of a difference it really is making to soil.

    Thanks for this. Last winter I bought some alfalfa pellets to feed to my ducks, they hated it so ai had this 50lb bag of pellets sitting around, I was getting heavy into composting and mulching for garden beds so I covered this new 8x8 raised bed with the alfalfa and cow manure and wood chip bedding from my duck coop, and I got the darkest green tomato leaves I have ever seen in my life, they were almost blue, and I had no clue what was going on. I just learned like a month ago that alfalfa is a good fertilizer 😅. Sounds like my application rate was way too high.

    It has been over a decade since I read of alfalfa as a fertilizer, but it used to be said the growth hormone triacontanol it contained increased flower sites. When it comes to Roses, Veggies, or Cannabis, more flowers = more Dollars

    Great info, thanks! I use alfalfa meal early spring on my lawn to give it a natural boost after our harsh Canadian winters.

    What about using compost teas vs adding alfalfa meal on top, would love to see such an experiment

    Is there a difference between Alfalfa meal and pellets, and how much? Saw on one pretty science oriented channel, that meal is made without the flower. Pellets have the flower in the pellet. Can't remember the difference it made now though. Have to go back and look. Love your channel. I just found it this morning and I'm hooked. Already spent an hour here, lol. Late to feed. Thanks Ok, went back and looked and it's mostly that there's no guaranteed analysis of the pellets. The quality is not as good, and there would probably be some other grasses in them being they are mostly produced for animal feed. That seems to be the biggest difference.

    Can you test fish emulsion & seaweed "juice"? I am mainly a container gardener with a few small raised beds. I have no choice due to I rent and can't do any ground gardening. Plus, my yard is extremely rocky & hard.

    Pease look at corn steep liquor. From what I read the nitrogen in is in the form of amino acids. Would like to know how this organic would do to the ammonium vs nitrate levels in the soil. Also to find what micronutrients are added with it. Thanks Matt.

    Yeah alfalfa is a good additive but quite expensive at least where I am. I just use compost with a fair amount of leaf mold.
    Have you done a test on fall leaves or leaf mold? I know they are full of trace minerals.

    What is the effect fermented mustard cake on soil ? What hapens to the Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) after fermentation? I heard Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) irritates earthworms . Is fermented mustard cake fertilizer safe to use on soil rhizo bacteria since Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) has antimicrobial properties?

    Great channel. However I wished you did the experiments longer. You can do a 2 week one like this then do a followup 3 months later lets say. Would be great, because the Kelp definitly needed more time to realese pottasium.

    Alfalfa is used more to add natural PGRs. So you would need a plant that benefits from it.

    • @tinaknutsen
      @tinaknutsen 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What are natural PGRs?

    • @T-money0985
      @T-money0985 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @tinaknutsen PGR or Plant Growth Regulators are used to enhance growth and appearance. Synthetic PGRs are carcinogenic. Natural ones like Alfalfa is used primarily for weed.

      Yes totally agree. great short/long term result on my lawn. Alfalfa meal helps with root development with trichophernol (spelling wrong) and humic acids improves nutrient uptake.

    20$ for a 50 lb bag of alfalfa pellets. . this is a no brainer. forget about the NPK benefits, just great organic content for soil microbe benefits root development form tri something. . I buy pellets, ground for lawn and pellets for plants on top of soil. part of organics.

      Yes; I have seen a lot of YT videos flying around about using alfalfa pellets the last 5-6 months in vegetable gardens, lawn and roses. One lady puts a thin layer of pellets of a container fills the rest with water, lets it steep for 1-3 days , strains it and uses on all her houseplants. And outdoor containers plants.
