Good luck. A lot of italian people doesn't know how to speak correctly italian. There's a lot of difference from city to city? We have a lot of dialects that change the way we speak, it's very hard to learn in video. Try some basic lessons

I’ve been taught that a lot of popular words in the Spanish world are from Rioplatense dialect and its slang called lunfardo (from Lombardo a region known as Lombardy in Italy) that was a big territory in South America and is the only spanish dialect that is oriental because it comes from Neapolitan. Words like laburo, chau (ciao), fiaca, facha, gente and other expressions are popular italian and very old words from this dialect and Latin written in Spanish.
It is so impressive how Carlo learned English off TH-cam so he can talk to her, most Americans barely have a grasp of English, this is my favorite couple on TH-cam
Haha now it's Carlo's turn to laugh at language mistakes 😁. This was fun! Oh and if you both wish to speak more Italian together, here some tips from a language teacher: Carlo try to speak slower and in shorter sentences, with loads of gestures. Both, try not to switch back to English too fast of you don't understand each other. And Sarah, put like 5 words (you can use straight away in daily life) on a paper on the refrigerator or something and repeat/practice them every time you pass it. If you know them, choose 5 new ones :)

The same reason why we Italians use hand gesture is because, in past, we was divided by regions and geographical barriers. So our local communities grown up talking differently dialects while Italian was lately introduced during reinassance and mostly during unification period. At the very best, some border-facing communities talked in French or German. Italian was considered a "pleb language" and so hand gestures comes to understand us and communicate concepts even if we do not know the words in local dialects. Some dialects later became even proper languages. So many of us talks two born mother languages, like me that I speak Italian and furlan. Hand gesture in time standardized some gesture to say specific words, so we can almost consider it a proper form of language not talked.
Sarah's been practicing. I noticed a vast improvement in prononciation. Where there is a will there is a way! Complimenti Sarah et Carlo. Happy Holidays!

Hey Jessica I was also in a long distance relationship with an Italian girl, she came to my country, worked and went back home, I travelled to her country told her that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. She moved to Australia for me, had a fantastic job and all, then we got married in Italy, stayed in Australia for another 5 years, we have two kids and now have been living in Italy for 5 years and it is just the best country. It's a unique experience. I couldn't stand the time difference, usually between 8 and 10 hours depending on the season, but it is worth it. There is nothing more bonding than having to both face the same difficulties and challenges, but hey, love reins supreme. Good luck

When I’m listening to Carlo I thought I heard some Spanish words and my boyfriend said I thought I heard Spanish also. I’m Hispanic. Although, my first language is Spanish! I’ve always loved how similar certain words are in Spanish and Italian!!! 😅

When I’m listening to Carlo I thought I heard some Spanish words and my boyfriend said I thought I heard Spanish also.
