    I only have one thing that I carry in all the cars and in my purse and that's cayenne. In my travel kit, I try to take along plantain for bites and stings along with activated charcoal and a tincture of Lobelia (which I need to get more as I'm out.) My favorite is Mullein and Elder flower for respiratory issues along with Lobelia for asthma. I have Lavender for minor burns and will be adding Comfrey powder, raw honey and Wheat germ oil to mix for major burns IF I HAVE ROOM! lol

      I have also used Lobelia externally for panic attacks. One drop at a time, rubbed into the wrist, along with deep breathing helped my daughter deal with these.

    I put together a herbal travel kit for myself focused on motion sickness. The case allows me to carry twenty 10 ounce tinctures so i can blend anything i need while traveling. The case has enough room to hold an empty bottle which i use to blend a formula. The case also has three bottles for powders.

      A picture would be great (if that is possible here!) Did you perhaps mean one ounce bottles, or is yours a very large case? TIA!

    I haven't traveled much but tend to go camping so I have lots of things for cuts and scrapes and such. I really love having a tea tree ointment, as well as a drawing salve. I also love having a sore muscle rub on hand.

    Great ideas for traveling. Love the polycrest philosophy. I always recommend some items for injuries/bites etc. for travel kits, at a minimum an antiseptic, bandages, and band aids. We went to Mexico years ago and my partner scraped his knee real bad. We were staying on a resort and I don't know if it was a language barrier or what (I'm somewhat fluent in Spanish), but they told me they didn't have any antiseptic or first aid items, which I found hard to believe, but didn't press the issue. It definitely started to get infected shortly before we went back to the states and he was in quite a bit of pain as a result. As soon as we got back I doused his knee in antiseptic, made sure it was cleaned regularly with clean water and soap, and then used a moisturizing salve to help the skin heal over once the infection was subsiding. Eventually it healed but I was pretty upset with myself for not bringing something for this scenario and assuming I would have something available to me. Also prepare for that hot Mexican sun. Aloe is my go to for this in case sun screen doesn't do the job. Same thing for foreign critters that might like to munch on you. Lavender essential oil or a small container of green clay mixed with clean water on demand work well for me for bites.

    Very practical to add to my travel homeopathic remedies - arnica for bumps, apis for stings and cocculus for motion sickness.
    Yeah Propolis works really well and is easy to find in any pharmacy in France. La maison du sureau is the only real source I found for elderberry products. A lot of people just have it growing in their yard 😉.
    I have used a Brazilian throat spray with honey, propolis and copaiba. Wow that’s strong.
    Thank you for your episode !!

    Thanks again Rosalee for this excellent podcast! I am traveling to Canada and New England in a couple of weeks and need to update my herbal first aid kit. It's a pain to separate the liquids from the regular kit though! Maybe I can contain all the tinctures, etc in a baggie which I can add back to my kit which I keep in a plastic zip case. I love your podcasts!

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I will definitely try packing some of these. Have you had any issues with TSA for carrying them on to the plane? What would you bring onto the plane while in the air and what would you put in checked luggage? What about bottles breaking? Do you ever transfer some of your tinctures into a nonbreakable bottle?

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you are under the 3oz limit, it's fine with TSA. I just pack mine well and leave them in the glass bottle. I try to avoid checked luggage so it's often with me, but it's been fine checked too.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've never had a problem. The only time something has been an issue was when I sent my dad back to Mexico with a bag of whole milk thistle seeds. They didn't allow the whole seeds, but if it had been powdered it would have been okay.

    My son from almost 7 years has an irritated esophagus for several years now. For months he took omeprazole but it did not work.
    Can you please tell me if there herbs for this problem?

    • @kalikale3969
      @kalikale3969 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would try Marshmallow root and or Slippery Elm bark but it's important to know what is causing the irritation. You don't want to simply take the batteries out of the smoke alarm and say the fire is out.

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with Kalikale, those two herbs are wonderfully soothing, but it's always best to know what's causing the irritation. I'd recommend working directly with a practitioner. I have a list of recommendations on my site. Many offer long distance consults and there are even free clinics. www.herbalremediesadvice.org/herbal-practitioners.html

    So should we "toss" old tea bags or teas... curious

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean unused tea bags that are very old? Something I like to do with my older herbs is put them in a bath. Of course that's not appropriate with all herbs, but many you can. That way you are able to use them up but in a supportive way, since they are most likely no longer medicinally potent.
