If you’re working 1099 you have a contract that lays out how you get paid. The most common way is to submit an invoice. Generally invoices must be paid within 30 days of the end of the month the work was done. So anything done in July isn’t late yet. But if no invoice has been submitted then nothing is due.
He needs a good manager to make sure the business is straight. I owned and ran an event production and promotion company for 5+ years and was on the production/venue side of these negotiations. Some of the things he's saying he wasnt allowed to do (merch, filming, percentage of the door etc) is supposed to be negotiated beforehand. Those things being exclusive to the headliner is normal but 100% negotiable. The 1099 is normal with a corporate entity like LiveNation. He needs to learn how to leverage his metrics. His metrics not only hold weight but theres also a dollar amount attached to them. They paid him a normal rate for a comedian with his experience but not what a comedian with his experience + his metrics should/could get. I used to Love the game and could go on and on.

I've made the same mistakes CW is making right now. As a businessman, don't go with just trust, don't base your actions and motivations on a good and motivational conversation you had with people you thought could "take you there". Don't rush to perform, thinking it'll be all straight money wise afterwards because you believe them people genuinely fck with you, because 9 times out of 10 THEY DON'T! Always listen to what is being said, always state your prices, your terms and conditions, and get your papers signed before you do ANYTHING. Take 50 to 60% before you start to put things in motion, and only deliver 100% of the work as soon as you get 100% of the money. Also , even if your first deal went through well with someone, don't get sloppy on the next deal. Repeat your prices, terms and conditions. And get your papers signed. Don't try to make friends with people. Your true friend is in their pocket/wallet/bank account. The money is your friend, not people. You can't sell to anybody, everybody cannot be your client, so don't be out there selling the same merch at different prices to different people, get you a niche and the business will grow overtime. You're not selling crack, you're selling a piece of your mind, your time and effort. I say all of this for y'all, but also as a reminder to myself, because even with all the knowledge in the world, a player can still fck up sometimes! God bless y'all folk!

I worked as a insurance adjuster with a check writer in my car where I was cutting checks in person to settle claims and also issue thousands of payment to all parties involved in accidents. My point... It does not take that long to cut a check!!! They playing games point blank. Companies who have all this suppose red tape or delays for payment do it on purpose to make it difficult for people to obtain payment.

If you’re working 1099 you have a contract that lays out how you get paid. The most common way is to submit an invoice. Generally invoices must be paid within 30 days of the end of the month the work was done. So anything done in July isn’t late yet. But if no invoice has been submitted then nothing is due.

He needs a good manager to make sure the business is straight. I owned and ran an event production and promotion company for 5+ years and was on the production/venue side of these negotiations. Some of the things he's saying he wasnt allowed to do (merch, filming, percentage of the door etc) is supposed to be negotiated beforehand. Those things being exclusive to the headliner is normal but 100% negotiable. The 1099 is normal with a corporate entity like LiveNation. He needs to learn how to leverage his metrics. His metrics not only hold weight but theres also a dollar amount attached to them. They paid him a normal rate for a comedian with his experience but not what a comedian with his experience + his metrics should/could get. I used to Love the game and could go on and on.

I've made the same mistakes CW is making right now. As a businessman, don't go with just trust, don't base your actions and motivations on a good and motivational conversation you had with people you thought could "take you there". Don't rush to perform, thinking it'll be all straight money wise afterwards because you believe them people genuinely fck with you, because 9 times out of 10 THEY DON'T!
Always listen to what is being said, always state your prices, your terms and conditions, and get your papers signed before you do ANYTHING. Take 50 to 60% before you start to put things in motion, and only deliver 100% of the work as soon as you get 100% of the money.
Also , even if your first deal went through well with someone, don't get sloppy on the next deal. Repeat your prices, terms and conditions. And get your papers signed. Don't try to make friends with people. Your true friend is in their pocket/wallet/bank account. The money is your friend, not people.
You can't sell to anybody, everybody cannot be your client, so don't be out there selling the same merch at different prices to different people, get you a niche and the business will grow overtime. You're not selling crack, you're selling a piece of your mind, your time and effort.
I say all of this for y'all, but also as a reminder to myself, because even with all the knowledge in the world, a player can still fck up sometimes!
