    As a professional logo designer I can tell you that those are not great logos, and it would be a disservice to a paying client to sell them something like that. From my experience those logos look like something a beginner designer would do. Don't mean to diss you, I think you have great content on your channel. I believe Midjourney and AI can be used greatly as a help tool for creative people.

      I feel the same way. As a graphic designer, there is no way I could use a program like that and consciously sell it to my client. No different than Canva. I love working on a print piece and asking a client for their vector logo. Their response is always, “I don’t know. I did it on Canva and I don’t have it anymore. Don’t cut corners on your brand, trust an expert.

      If we’re being honest, the majority of graphics designers are at a beginner level skill and they don’t do great work. Similarly, the majority of research assistants or data analysts don’t do great work in terms of what I consider a Maverick level of contribution to the creative or analyst process. Heck, the majority of people in all professions don’t stand out, that’s why people that stand out are massively successful by comparison.
      As I’ve personally experienced, GPT4 and similar AI does almost everything a non-Maverick will do. You guys likely fall into the Maverick category and are deeply engaged in your work, but don’t project that skill onto your peers when you review them. You stand out because the majority doesn’t.

      right and if you are a designer you already know what a logo should and should not look like. AI puts out a bunch of images but you can really use your knowledge of design principles to polish everything up.

    This is great, I’m not a graphic designer but I can see that it’s super easy to use. The only disadvantage is that if this is all you know how to do, you won’t be able to edit it according to the clients request. That’s where professional graphic designers excel and honestly that’s a good thing.
    A great tool to use for reference, similarly how writers use chatgpt as a reference, not a copy and paste type thing

    I think Ai in graphic design needs to be used more as a tool rather than the design itself. Ai can save a ridiculous amount of time, and if your creative with how you use it you can create even better designs than you would on your own. For example, getting a bunch of extra mock up ideas that can give you some inspiration into the final design. You can also use Ai heavily in the design pitch and presentation.

    For anyone reading this that is getting super excited about making 34k/mo with logos on Etsy, please understand that is not realistic and although possible, it would take a very long time. The 1st shop he showed has been on Etsy for 9 years so that level of success took quite a while. So many TH-camrs make these videos without talking about the REAL side of things and then people run to open their shops and wonder why in the first few months they haven't made 34k yet. It's just misleading.

      @@Storygospel533 There was a time when videos of girls opening jewelry stores were trending on TikTok and they were very successful! I did the same, I opened a little shop (Etsy), I made videos for TikTok, I did everything the girls did… in the end I only made about 130 dollars in cash in one year, my profit was barely enough to pay for the materials I bought… never again I do this, opening a business is not that easy.

    Even though it's a cool tutorial, everyone should be aware that none of these AI generated logos fall under copyright protection, and thus can not be trademarked. This means that everyone can use these logos, without the need to purchase it.

    • @albinobeach
      @albinobeach ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Also, no one whos serious about branding would use any of these anyway, they're not good. All that work to achieve nothing, pay a professional designer to do a professional design.

      How can you tell its generated since the file will be a vector image from Illustrator?

    • @thiquedique
      @thiquedique ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@peterfoxtrott8750 Generally it comes down to the concept, and how abstract the idea is as it relates to the business itself. It's pretty easy to spot an Ai generated logo vs a professional logo design if you know the company.
      These are reasonable options for startups, or people with $0. It significantly devalues the work that real designers like me do, though, because people like this are setting an expectation of "cheap is good, good is cheap". Graphic Design is a trade, and it takes practice and persistence to learn the craft. Ai should not be used in this way; it's extremely predatory to the industry and to clients that aren't aware that they're buying a logo that their competitor could just rip off with zero consequence.

    • @ancientflames
      @ancientflames ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thiquediqueai can and will automate many aspects of graphic design and should be used by graphic designers to remain competitive. But it shouldn't be relied on for he entire srt making process. It is a help, something to do the mundane parts of creation. I don't think it should be used entirely to generate the art. But at the rate it's advancing I think it's already the path we are headed down. It's advancing in ability very quickly. In a few years time all these separate settings, parameters, and programs from midjounrey to invoke ai and chat gpt will all be more or less one unified program. Sure different companies will have their own but all these are gonna get wrapped up in every single thing we do daily. From emails, to meetings to art and beyond.
      The genie is out of the bottle. Now we just have to make sure we are very specific with our wishes so we don't "monkey's paw" ourselves haha.

    just an additional for everyone who wants to pursue the logo design business, not everything can be "image traced" in illustrator, it will only work 100% if the design is B&W just like the example in the video, but for other designs like the mascot logos you need adobe illustrator skills to turn them into vector logos in able to sell them or send them to your clients, the good thing about AI is that it helps you with the brainstorm process unlike before where you need to search the internet for some ideas. I've been doing freelance logo design for years and I thanked God that AI is now here, it lightens the work load but not 100%, you still need the skills to bring the designs to life in order to make money out of it.

These videos have value in the sense they may give you some ideas from where to start but I guarantee you will not make those $34k just by selling AI content. Unfortunately it became a trend and these youtubers are abusing their titles to get more gullible people to click. I'm not saying you're not able to make money using AI, but all of these youtubers main revenue come from their channel, not from the things they're claiming to be masters of (since they probably just copied the idea from another channel).

    There is so so much you can do with stable diffusion instead of paying for mid journey. In fact there is a vector plug-in for automatic 1111 and you can do all the stuff for free if you have a decent enough PC.

    BUT... How long have these shops been running for ?
    5 years... 10 years... Then 500k is not that much and then you still need to deduct the TAX.
    Its a nice side hustle to get some passive income on the side.

    I love this idea, one thing I was wondering about. At the start of the video you give the example logos you designed and you showcase them on wood or a cup. What software did you use to actually embed the logo into something, for example the chess piece in the wood?

    Lots of beautiful illustrations showcased in the video, but almost none of them would be a good logo fit (except for the pair of scales, maybe). That said, they could be a good starting point to develop a functional, less complex form if it fits the objectives. I guess we'll someday have a better AI tool for designing, but we're not quite there yet.
    Great video, though; very professional. Keep up the good work! 🙌

    It only works on logos where the letters are not part of the actual design of the logo. For example you can't have a letter b used as part of the image.

    Thank you Alek. I'm at the starting line so I'm totally enjoying your content. $40-$80 is a little steep for someone starting out, though I know, if you're gonna do it, do it. Really looking forward to the next couple of videos but that gives me time to take tons of notes and get even more familiar with MidJourney and ChatGPT.
    As always, much appreciated.

    I hear how professional logo deisgners complain about how these AI generated logos look subpar. Well, there is a market for everyone. For a small biz startup with lots of costs, an earthshaking logo is neither practical nor necessary. Your other vid on AI created patterns drew the same complaints from pros. Your vid helps non pros with zero artistic talents but need logos tremendously. This woild also help me create side hustles to earn seed money to further fund my biz. Thank you! New subscriber here.
    Question: how did you come up with the estimate of how much these logo shops made?

    Seriously? Your idea of making a logo is asking AI to make it for you? And then using a highly featured paid program just to do the tracing and simple stuff? And that's supposed to be the technical part. That makes no sense. You could use a free program, or just learn how to design a logo by yourself.
