I would recommend a metal platform base for your bed, if you're still looking for one. It requires no box spring and gives you space under the bed for storage. Also, it is super easy to set up because it just comes with all the necessary tools and takes just a few steps. Ikea sells slats for it's bed frames that you are supposed to pick up. Sometimes they're in a different aisle so it's easy to overlook them
