    Legendary Ukraine pianist Boris Bloch shares his personal story, what he learned from his beloved teacher Dmitri Bashkirov, and much more.
    Boris Bloch Bio
    Boris Bloch is an Ukrainian pianist and director. Born in Odessa in 1951, was considered one of the most important interpreters of classical and romantic piano music.
    After studying at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow under the guidance of the famous pianist and teacher Dmitri Bashkirov, he soon developed a vast repertoire continues to expand, extending to artists like Scarlatti and Bach, including the Viennese classics like Chopin and Liszt, the Romantics Tedeschi and Russians up to the most important composers of the 20th century.
    After graduating, he won numerous international piano competitions, including one of the most distinguished awards for pianists, or the first prize at the International Piano Competition “Ferruccio Busoni” of Bolzano, Italy, in 1978 in Moscow at the State Conservatory “Tchaikovsky”.
    Boris Bloch has performed as soloist with major European orchestras (such as Vienna, Leipzig, Berlin, Bergen, Rome, Milan, Florence, Budapest, Moscow) and some US orchestras of Cleveland, Houston, Pittsburgh, etc.
    It is a regular guest at international music festivals, in the summer of 2017, Bloch has performed at various music festivals in Italy. In Verona, and in Noto (Sicily) he has performed a solo program with works by Bach, Beethoven and Liszt.
    Several of Bloch’s CD recordings have acquired benchmark status, especially his recordings of Liszt’s opera paraphrases, which were awarded the “Grand Prix International du Disque” Liszt by the Liszt Society of Budapest and the “Diapason d’Or” of Paris. While, the recording of the complete works of Mussorgsky for piano received the “Excellence Disque” award in Paris. The first CD of the ARS Produktion series with the works of Franz Liszt was awarded with the honorary prize by the Liszt Society of Budapest in 2011.
    On March 2, 2018 Boris Bloch was appointed an honorary member of the Austrian company Liszt.
    In the academic year 2019-20 Boris Bloch was invited to become a professor of piano at the Academy “Talent Music Master Courses” in Brescia, Italy.
