    I agree with your suggestions and have one ☝️ more you might consider. Last year, about the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, my Saitech yoke died and I had to replace it. Just about all my simulator was Saitech and over the past couple of years, I had had nothing but trouble with their customer service department. For over a year I had spent trying to deal with them on my steam gauge panel, including 5 of my 6 panel gauges my multi-panel etc so I was afraid to go forward with mor Saitech equipment. About that time, the Honeycomb yoke was introduced and for just a few bucks more, I purchased one of these. I think it’s a great 👍 yoke and would recommend it to anyone. The Rest of my stuff works fine. I really enjoy your videos and have watched them several times. Keep up the good work!

      Hi Steve, I'm right there with you, got the Honeycomb a few months ago and what a difference, very smooth, makes flying much easier!! Thanks for watching and your input :-)

    Thank you for the CH Eclipse Yoke recommendation! I have been going back and forth between a Saitek and Honeycomb, but I think the CH is a perfect starting part since it has the (temporary) rudder pedals and the throttle/prop/mixture, and an amazing amount of buttons too!

      Hi Casey, The Eclipse is a great starter for sure! With that said the Honeycomb is by far the best but you will need a throttle and rudder pedals, something to save up for or drop a few hints for Christmas :-)
      Thanks for watching, have a great Christmas.

    Thanks. Another helpful video. The CH Eclipse yoke is great - It has a trim wheel which is very helpful. The rudder pedals work just right. But on the ground, pushing the rudder too far right or left stops the plane. On the ground I find I need to make very gradual turns and that usually puts me on the grass. Does the real plane act the same? Any tips?

    • @WEHVideos
      @WEHVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hal. Thanks glad it helped :-) You might try playing with the sensitivity controls for the rudder pedals to see if that helps. The more likely thing is you could be applying the breaks a little when pushing all the way on the pedal. The rudders take a bit getting used to so taxi around the airport to practice just "driving" the airplane. Also, depending on the airplane you are flying, the nose wheel only turns so far so it's hard to make sharp turns. This is where you can use the brake just a bit to help with the turn. And Yes it's a a bit of a struggle in the real airplane until you get a good feeling on how to use the rudder and brake together when on the ground, just takes practice.
      Just in case you didn't hear about the free airplane, X-Hanger has given me the rights to their Cessna 172N and have allowed me to give it away to anyone who would like to use it for following along in my videos. You can learn how to download it by watching the video in the link below:

    HI, i am learning about flight simming and I am about to buy a PC to start using X-plane 11. And let me thank you for your excellent objective lessons on X-plane beginners.

      Hi Larissa, Thanks and welcome to X Plane! May I suggest you get the most powerful computer you can and make sure you get a good video card with lots of memory, the more memory the better. Flight simulators demand a lot from a computer so try and not let price hold you back, you won't be disappointed.

    not sure how you attached pedals to plywood.could you please elaberate ? thanks

      I just screwed the pedals on top of a piece of plywood and drove nails extending about 1/2 inch through the plywood so they would go into the carpet (NOT all the way through the carpet into the floor!!!) to keep the pedals from sliding on the carpet.

    Unfortunately, where I live in, they don't sell these things. Even joystick is pretty hard to get hands to :D. Recently though I managed to get the next best thing I think for controlling airplanes, something that's used in the real world flying as well :), an RC transmitter that I can connect to my PC through the trainer port and using a dongle. Good thing about it is I can setup the expo and max deflections and also the rates from the transmitter itself, although am still learning about it. It even has a small dial which I've set for trim. Its small and light weight and doesn't need dedicated desk space, but of course its not yoke and rudder pedals. One thing I miss in it is the ability to brake individual wheels while turning in the ground :(.

      @WEHVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rohit, Well that's interesting, sounds like you can do pretty much everything. Too bad about the brakes though it must be hard to control the airplane on the ground especially in sharp turns. Good luck.

    Hi Skip. Your work in providing these very useful videos is a great service to many. I am pretty new to XPlane, and do have the CH Eclipse yoke. In your experience with an actual C172, are your recommended control sensitivity settings of 85/85/100 most realistic to actual flight? I find it more sluggish than 0/0/0, and actually have become used to the 0/0/0 setting. However, I want it to be as realistic as possible. Thank you -Rob

      Hi Rob, In the real 172N it take more effort to move the yoke and in the simulator with the setting you are using you get instant response and that's not realistic. What we don't get in the simulator is the pressure feedback that you feel in a real airplane. The yoke operates the Ailerons by a cable system on the 172N, there is no "power steering", so as the ailerons are moved up and down into the air steam over the wings you feel more and more resistance on the yoke because of the force of the air on the ailerons as they move up and down.
      The only way I have found to come even a bit close to experiencing the feedback is to use those settings I mentioned. With these settings I feel more spring tension in the yoke when I turn. But even with this it's not anywhere near reality. I'm hoping the next release, XP11.30, will allow for more sensitivity control, the sensitivity control options we have now don't do enough in my opinion. This problem is not all because of X Planes sensitivity options but because of the inexpensive yokes that we are using. You can purchase really nice yokes that will make flying on your computer much more realistic but they are very very expensive and they don't have knobs and buttons etc. that we really need for home computer sims. Hope this helps.
      Blessings and happy flying,

    Hi Skip. I notice that on UK Amazon site, Windows 10 is not on the compatibility list for the Eclipse yoke. Would you know if it this is an oversight or a definite no-goer. Best regards Francis

      Hi Mega, I use windows 10 and use the Eclipse yoke and have had no problem so I'm guessing it should be fine.

If so I suggest you uninstall it someone at XPlane.org suggested that it was a problem in X Plane 11. Check out the X Plane Forum there may be more help there. Sorry I'm not much help here.
