    I had not ridden in over 30 years and 2 months ago I bought a 2023 Road Glide. I never set on the bike until I had bought it. In the parking lot at the dealership nearly dropped the bike 4 times I decided to trailer it home. The weight of the bike was a lot to get the feel of. Now I have over 1100 miles on it and every time I get on it now it's a joy to ride. While getting my bike it's 1000 mile service we noticed the rear shock adjustment was on it's lowest setting. The mechanic adjusted it to the 15 setting and greatly improved the ride along with a seat upgrade. The power of the 107 is great and it just pulls hills with ease. I also had a set of "SVT Bone Shakers" installed at the time of service and they sounds great over stock. I'm looking forward to a road trip on it out to Texas this summer after I get more miles on it. Thanks for all the great information.

      I had the first year of M8 in 2017. Ultra Classic. Rode the wheels off of her. I was very skeptical after Shovelhead, Evo and Twin Cams. The M8 is certainly a step ahead of those IMHO. Enjoy your H-D. There's nothing like it.

    My RG is a 2016 Ultra. Similar but different. Great bike with Stage 1. Header, AC, slip-ons and tuner. All I need changed is the seat to push me back more. 6’1”, 36” legs makes it tight. Coming off a sport bike, highway pegs are a revelation.

    I’m a year round rider, northern IL. It fits in the garage next to the wife’s SUV. Pretty much consider this a car. I’ll probably opt for the heated and cooled seats but I gotta see how soft they are first because she’s picky and gotta keep her happy. The stock seat is amazingly comfortable.

    Great review. You are right on point with the aesthetics issue. I feel like these bikes, although very similar, are for a bit different markets. Personally, I love them both and have owned both. The Limited is by far the most traditional best looking touring bike in the entire world and the Special is a canvas for the sleekest most trick sport bagger on the planet. Had a conversation today with a guy who can't believe H-D hasn't upgraded its touring chassis much even on the CVO. Old guys like me love the one and only full dress Harley Davidsons. Best touring chassis still today bar none and I hope Harley continues to make these for years to come. I'm 65 years old and have loved different flavors of H-D my whole life. I'm currently on a '23 Limited and it's absolutely fantastic in bone stock form.

    So I had a 2016 road glide ultra for 4 years an loved it. Just traded it in for the 22 limited and couldn't believe the difference. It is awesome. This thing handles like a sport bike compared to the 16 ultra. It feels
    200 lbs lighter. I miss the heel toe shifter. And they ditched the hydro clutch and went back to cable but still feeling smooth. Also no air adjustable rear suspension but suspension still an improvement none the less. All in all the extra features out weight the list ones all day. That solid Mount 114 engine sits lower in the frame. Than rubber mount 103 and feel less top heavy

    • @GIGABACHI

      LMAO, they won't even give you a heel shifter as standard equipment on such an expensive motorcycle ? The motor company has gone LOW . . . cheap bastids.

  • @Fro_Low

    Pretty much agree. I like the water cooling for a little extra protection during the hot seasons in South Florida and I figure I could always get the stretched bags if I really wanted to later. Take the tour pack off for short trips and back on for weekend getaways. The only thing I really dislike is the seating position - too upright. Bars can help change that, but would like to sit back a little bit more. I put some Rhineharts on and sounds pretty damn good. Just need to add the breather now.

    Harley puts standard bags on the ST because people replace the exhaust with 2-1 and the stretch bags look odd with a missing muffler.

    Great review. I'm presently happy with my Heritage Classic 114 but I know someday I'll be looking for a Touring frame bike and trying to sort through all the models (standard, Specials, Limited, etc.) is really a task. Also good to know about the flat footing since I'm also 5'7" (5'8" on a good day) so I'm happy you mentioned that.

    I have a 21 FLTRK and love it. Long trips with plenty of storage and I don’t have to stop every 100 miles to let my ass reinflate. Stock seat was good but at 6’ I was a little close to the take so I put a Mustang seat on it which moved my position back and it’s more comfortable than ever.

    I had a guy tell me a trick for backing up bigger bikes.
    Put the stand down, get off and walk it back. You need to learn the balance point, it is a bit tricky but once you get used to pushing it’s fast and easy

  • @tax905972
    @tax905972 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can put the passing lights on a street glide and road glide. Most gets the limited for many miles of riding with the wife in mind. As for storage you only require a tour pax which you can remove. The shocks height is important for short riders. The street and road glide has lower shocks which everyone like too complain about. Only to raise them to the height of a ultra limited touring bike. I left mine stock. The adjustment is enough for now.

  • @bnix-cc
    @bnix-cc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You should try mounting the bike from the right side using the floor board, much easier than the left side. Safer too, you exit the bike on the non-traffic side of the bike.

    • @emilgeorge5143
      @emilgeorge5143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mounting from the right is also how motor officers are trained. Another reason it is safer is that if the bike goes down you are on the up side not the down side.

    I have a 2022 Roadglide Limited in Gunship grey. I personally think the regular bags look better as they expose the exhaust. Also you have more cornering clearance in sharp corners that’s why the ST models don’t have the stretched bags ! I put a stage 2 torque cam on mine & it’s perfect now !

I know people do and yes I have the money to buy it, but not worth over 30k imo.

    Great review, I have the 2020 Road Glide Special I put on the color matched tour pack with the tour pack light bar and bag lights. I like the Special because in part I want the rear fender lights. As for aesthetics I like that look rather than the light strips between the bags and the fender. I went with the smoked lenses on the rear but at the last moment I didn't get the smoked lenses on the front turn signals because I decided the contrast of the stock with the Eagle Eye paint looked good.

    Hey bud...i found this video because Im looking at a 2019 Road Glide special in the same color as the bike in this video. BUT, what he did was add the factory lowers to it, and put speakers in them. He also had a Detachable King tour pack added. At 5'8 you think it will fit me decent? I've been riding a Honda vtx1800C model since 2002, so im not a stranger to a heavy bike. But that VTX sits pretty low. Hoping I can get comfortable on the road Glide special because he added a few key mods that are found on the Limited. My thought is that I can always do a suspension upgrade later and add some remote reservoir rear shocks.

      I have a 21 Wing non-tour and I’m trading it for an RGL. The mid mount foot position of the Wing makes my hamstrings cramp after about 3 hours and my knees hurt after an hour. It needs HeliBars because it pulls my shoulders mildly out of socket if I use my backrest. The stealth highway pegs on it are solid metal and along with having my legs super splayed out, also fatigue me in that position for long. I wanted to love my wing, I really did. It’s got great power, but it’s an ergonomic nightmare for me. My wife doesn’t care for her seat or positioning either.
      Add insult to injury, it’s got a CONSTANT pull to the right, which is a frame manufacturing flaw from the factory and the only solution is a 16lb chunk of steel mounted above the left muffler (Traxxion makes it and it works well). My steering stem threads SHEARED completely during a trip from Alabama to Indiana in Kentucky and I rode that thing all the way up with bars that had 2” of vertical play at each end. Had to buy an expensive solid stainless one with a safety pin in it (also Traxxion, it’s a solid product).
      Add to that the engine drinks oil like it’s going out of style. I add about a quart and a half over 5000mi. I ride the bike harder than any wing rider you’ll ever see so that may be why. Also, the rear tire averaged 7k miles before hitting wear bars.
      Long story short…it’s not the amazing machine my grandfather’s 96 Wing was and it’s downright painful to be on after an hour.
