Fun fact for the Regulars: Men are more commonly colorblind than women because colorblindness is caused by the X chromosome. However, it’s recessive. Females, who are XX, would have to get the genes for colorblindness in both X chromosomes (from both mom and dad), while males who are XY only need to get it once since if it’s present in the X chromosome for males, there’s no second X to potentially make the colorblindness recessive.

The reason more men than women have colourblindness is because the gene for colourbling is on an X-chromosome. Since men have XY as their chromosomes they only need to get the gene off one of the parents(AKA one gene and men are colourblind) and their colourblind, whereas women have XX as their chromosomes thus women have to get the gene from both parents(AKA two genes with colourblindness) in order to be colourblind
