The reason you don't see intact, historic synagogues in Israel is that they were destroyed by numerous conquerors over the centuries. All that is left of the ancient synagogues in Israel are ruins with mozaic tile work and foundations. Many synagogues around the world were also converted into churches and mosques. You can see mosques with star of davids and other Judaic symbols.

I know this is subjective, but when the title of the video says 'around the world', I expected to find at least one entry from somewhere outside Europe or North-Western Asia. India for example has some quaint synagogues dating from the 13th - 16th centuries that are incredibly pretty both on the outside and the inside - not many know this.

Yes, the Plum Street Synagogue in Cincinnati is gorgeous, both inside & out. Moorish Revival style.
Subotica synagogue is now reconstructed to full glory and it is not just second biggest n Europe, its the most beautiful one.
