    EPISODE 157
In this video we hang the solid Purpleheart rudder onto the stern of the boat! Firstly though, Zeal has to do some impressive shaping work using an Adze, chisels, grinders and more.
We also catch up on progress with the Teak cap rail, and the Bulwarks get their first coat of paint.

      Oh. That's good.
I just know that they don't use that kind of woods in guitars anymore because of ethical reasons. But it might in fact be for economical reasons then masked as ethical? I have no idea. There are plenty of woods from South America they don't use in musical instruments any more. And ivory of course.

Far and away the best TH-cam channel. No need for gimmicky eye candy footage, just plain and productive hard work that happens to look exquisite. Thank you very much, Leo, job continues to be extremely well done.

A few years back I took a woodworking course and our instructor said remember you are not building a violin. I think the team working on TALLY HO missed that class. The skills we are seeing suggest they might just take up building violins after this project hits the water. And no disrespect to anyone working on violins just amazing work by everyone on TALLY HO.

I build guitars (both acoustic and electric). Back when I was learning the skills and I asked my teacher if something was "good enough" or if I should keep refining it, he would often reply: "This might be good enough if you were building a fine high-end cabinet, but this is a guitar! A good guitar is as much a piece of art as it is an instrument". I believe the Tally Ho crew has the same mindset.

I'm down with bcordell from a few days ago......Leo did some masterful work with that adz.....it looks easy and fun.....it ain't.....and just get tired and watch how close you get to the trim line.....I'm curious what type of joint Leo used to cover the end grain top and bottom of the rudder.....would guess bread board but didn't look like that from the video I could see......as usual, great work from the team.

2:19 Leo is not joking, it really is very difficult to shape when you have to get the right tweaks. We use this wood as a replacement for the core of old beams in some applications of restorations. Obviously this means it's basically cut with a saw for the most part, but whenever some personalized tweaks are required, unless you have sharp, sharp tools, you'll be struggling with it. Very dense, very stable. Awesome wood.

The last scene sums up the effort , thousands of hours of blood sweat and ...... laughter, Leo's hand is resting on his beloved; feeling the warmth of old growth teak . So many people will be able to touch and enjoy as well , in the future. So much value in that ,thats why I am a patreon supporter.
