My all-time favourite movie.
1996 में B A 1st year syllabus में गाइड नोवेल था। तभी रात में दिल्ली दूरदर्शन पर यह फ़िल्म आई। घर में सभी सो गए लेकिन मैंने अकेले पूरी फिल्म देखी। आज भी इस फिल्म के गीत सुनता हूं तो वो दिन याद आ जाते हैं।
भारतीय फिल्म उद्योग में एक अलग पहचान बनाई है इस फिल्म ने। प्रत्येक पहलू में इस फिल्म का कोई सानी नहीं।
लाजवाब और बेहतरीन हर तरह से।
रेहान फ़ज़ल जी आप एक पूरी लाईब्रेरी हो जिसमें पूरा ज्ञान का भंडार है। धन्यवाद।

Guide is unquestionably the one of the greatest classic movie of the bollywood.
It's blend of everything....the love, the tragedy, the faith, the death.
The story, the cast, the screenplay, the direction, the acting... every bit of this movie was much ahead with of its time.
It has been 57 years since this novel based movie was released. Even after the time period of half a century the value of this movie has not even depreciated a bit.
The acting and dialogues of Dev Anand and Wahida Rehman are too engrossing. The songs of this movie like 'kya se kya ho gyaz bewafa tere pyar me' and ' din dhal jaye haye raat na jaye' by Rafi will strike the raw nerves
At one scene Wahida Rehman tells to Dev Anand 'tune chingari kya dikhayi, maine to sara ashiyan hi foonk dala'
When Dev Anand was heartbroken he tells her that 'Bahot raah dekhi ek aisi raah par jo teri rahgujar bhi nahi'
Everyone who think himself as a movie buff must watch this masterpiece.

Brother Hollywood films don't have songs n street dances n ever Hollywood hero heroins dream songs with full poetic launguage songs so don't campare Bollywood to Hollywood.
Guide is good n bold movie those era n well received by lndian audience but Hollywood version utterflop n huge losses to Navketan productions.

Undoubtedly Guide is one landmark film of Indian Cinema. However Guide released in UK in 1965, and in India it released in 1966. How Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru appreciated it without watching it? He passed away on 27th May 1964.

Dev just informed him that he was going to make a film based on RKN 's novel Guide and Nehru appreciated him for his decision.

Guide is an outstanding movie. I watched it just after my matriculation exam. The songs that I listen to quite often now are
S D Burman's " yahan kaun hai tera..."
and
"din dhal jaye.... ".
It should have been informed that
Pearl S. Buck was a Nobel Laureate as well.
And R K Narayan was not particularly happy with the way his novel was picturised.
Watch Goldie's " Tere Mere Sapne " based on A J Cronin's novel" The Castle " ( if memory serves me right)." An unsung Goldie number but an outstanding movie.

In these days i am again feeling captivated by this movie
Undoubtedly one of the greatest movie, ever made by Indian film industry..time less because of the boldness, progressive, and the reality of human mind and behavior not compartmentalized into black or white boxes..Recently saw the English version of this movie, much shorter and even more real, unglamorous unlike the Hindi version and without any songs, was even more poignant, sharp and thought provoking than the Hindi version which I have seen many many times and enjoyed every time..

The film Guide was released on 06th February 1965. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru died on 27th May 1964, that is almost 8 months before the film was released. How could Pandit Nehru could pat Dev Anand's back?

No Rehaan, Shailendra didn’t approach Dev and Goldie for providing opportunity to pen songs on exit of Hasrat. In fact when Hasrat didn’t rise to the occasion, Sachin Da suggested to take Shailendra. An embodiment of self respect Shailendra ,took it as second choice. In order to avoid it he demanded disproportionately higher remunerations which was agreed to by Dev, being left with no choice.The decision however created history in the world of film music.

Everyone contributed to the best of their ability. Kishore Kumar, Rafi Saab, SD Burman, RD, Waheda Rehman, Sailendra all have performed at their peak.
