The Lord endures with us so we should endure with one another.
As people's we are flawed sinners relating to flawed sinners.

This forgiveness and kind of love is supernatural.....and that is what our God is and what Jesus showed us with his actions. This is what we should strive for....this is what makes Christianity so different from the world...a product of the "indwelling" Holy Spirit.

    Good teaching.
John Piper says that turning the other cheek is not the ONLY way that Christians respond to evil, but that this should be our default position.
Absolutely right. There are times for resisting those who mistreat us, but they are the exception rather than the rule.
Unless we believe there is a good reason for not turning the other cheek, that is what we should do.

I like how the NET Bible puts it; "putting up with one another in love"

A call for separation from worldly and religous people
    Owe no one anything
    But to love one another
    Fulfil the commandment
Jesus never socialised with the scribes and pharisees
Apart from healing and the occasional contact with sinners
He spent most of his time with his disciples!

I do not know how much can a person take, when they are being abused. How can a Christian endure hurt and love and worship at the same time while one’s heart is in a constant uproar. That to me is like putting clean wine in a dirty vessel. It’s like serving two masters. Even in physical pain, it’s difficult to utter a prayer and that’s when the Holy Spirit makes intercession, however, enduring such constant violation of one’s spirit, will break down a personz. Even Jesus Christ felt lost under such strain, and uttered “ my god, my god, why art thou forsaken me,” it’s one thing to be a burden bearing, but it’s another to allow oneself to be broken by such.

You happy, Piper? Love the horror that is unfolding in the world. You had a hand in this horror. You helped it along. You are a WOLF in sheep's clothing! Run while you can those who listen to him.
