I also have athsma and smoke a pipe. I find it helps me regulate myself much better than the medication. The Lord of the Rings was a big influence on me as well, more specifically, the scene of Gandalf and Bilbo smoking together. I love it.
My mother has struggled with asthma her whole life. I am very familiar with how scary it can be. Stress and make it much worse and I can totally see how having a pipe can help with managing stress levels. It defiantly does for me. Take care of yourself and happy piping!
So sorry to hear about your condition. Been smoking as you know for a long time and I have smoked all this time a pipe. My late wife who never smoked in her life got cancer and died in age of 50...what I try to say that pipe smoking is not the evil behind everything. Pipe smoking is a thing that makes life more acceptable, by the way I cracked that tin of Bijou...smoking it in a Savinelli Leonardo and it's tasty so far...I haven't detect any honey yet. Take care and as always cool smokes mate.
Olle, I appreciate your kind words, I am truly sorry about loosing your wife, 50 is way to young, my point of making the video was to nip in the bud the notion that smoking my pipe was causing my cough, some of the comments I have gotten made me feel like a hypocrite, which I am not, so I made the video. Thank you for the support of me and my channel. 👍👍👍
I really enjoy your videos. I wish you the best health. Your videos help keep me company while I'm deployed in the Middle East, away from my wife and kids. Late at night a few times a week I will light up a pipe and listen to one of your videos. Makes a lot of the stress and loneliness go away. Thank you.
My pleasure my friend, I have been in your place many times, deployed for six months on a navy vessel away from at the time was my wife and kids, it gets lonely, so I am very happy that my video's are helping, I appreciate your service to our country my friend, Ronald Reagan once said "Most people go through life wondering if they made a difference, men in uniform don't have that problem". 👍👍👍👍
I just sub'ed to this channel after watching several vids of this. Good channel. Pipe smoking and health. I have smoked a pipe since I was 18. I am now 57. Thirty-nine years later and I still smoke a pipe. I had congestive heart failure during the fourth of July 2019 and was hospitalized. Since then I have made great changes in my diet. I have put the booze away. But I will continue to smoke my pipe until my last dying day and hour. Only then will I quit smoking. They can't take everything from you.
I started smoking pipes last year and I have asthma. I noticed that when I smoke my pipe I have no adverse reactions to the smoke. I do get a little irritation when I smoke at my local cigar shop when it is crowded. I just go outside with my pipe, calm my self down then head back in. But again, when I smoke by myself I have no issues. In also run from time to time, and found that my lung capacity has not been affected by pipe smoking Semper Fi. Keep up the great work
Kyle Ostrander - I am the same Kyle, the smoke does not irritate my asthma, unless I inhale some by accident, I hate it when my lungs start to close up, then I get scared, then the adrenaline starts to flow, then I get shorter and shorter breaths, so I calm myself, breathe in and out as calmly as I can, try to take my mind off of it, asthma is horrible, it’s like drowning without water. 😖😖😖
I think you have mentioned you're asthma before in one of you're other vids. The anti smoking Nazis are always going to think they know better than you. I would take it with a grain of salt and keep on enjoying you're life to the fullest. Everyone who smokes understands the risks. Don't let it get to you my friend.
The comment didn't bother me, what concerned me was being perceived as a hypocrite, being an advocate for the relatively safe hobby of Pipe smoking yet here I am coughing like it's unhealthy. So I just wanted to set the record strait as to what was causing my cough. Thanks for your words of encouragement. 👍👍👍
Im an asthma sufferer too and I agree that pipe smoking is a great relief for my general health due to calming effect; living with asthma is a very stressful experience generally, it is a little bit panicky at times so I agree completely with this video, some relaxation is much needed for the asthmatic person. thank you.
I also have asthma although not severe like yours, your videos have been a huge help especially this one. My grandpa always smoked a pipe so I've been very interested in keeping that tradition alive, thank you!
I have asthma (though very mild) and smoke a pipe too so I get your situation and your right asthma issues doesn't really relate to pipe smoking since you don't inhale unless you do it in a non ventilated room that fills with the smoke. Pipe smoking has never caused any wheezing or congestion for me. I'm sure you know this, but there are a lot of anti-smoking people who troll everyone who smokes on youtube and try to scare or shame them out of doing it. We are all adults and should make our own decisions about what is right for us. Thanks for the video!
What a good man you are ,taking time to explain to someone your "condition" that doesn't even know you!!Thank you sir for all your videos i saw many of them ,but this is one of the best 'my opinion' haha
Chris you are one of the TH-camrs that I started off watching for the subject matter and end up watching mainly to learn your attitude towards life and other fellow human beings.
Hello Chris, just found your channel while watching some videos pertaining to this FDA ordeal and I will be subscribing in just a moment. I could immediately appreciate the atmosphere, calm, detailed discussion method or "etiquette" of your videos. I can agree with many other comments here. I've been a pipe smoker only since the summer of 2012 and am a member of many pipe forums/communities. Anyway, Luke the videos and will be watching several others tonight. wanted to say thank you sir and keep up the excellent work. Regards, Zach
I have some medical problems as well, but that never stopped me in enjoying my pipe and tobacco. You are enjoying what you like, don't mind them. Keep doing what you like and these videos, I love them.
I, quite honestly, like your presentation. I am 78 years old. I used to smoke cigerettes quite heavily. Turning on to pipes has helped me do away with cigerettes. I am using these activated charcoal filters & I do not inhale. I am learning a lot from your various presentations. Thank you!
I have the same condition and you have what I call a "signature cough" where your family know where you are because they can hear you trying to clear your throat. Thank you for a very informative video chris
Hey Muttonchop! I only just found this video after watching many of your others. Just wanted to wish you continued good health and send you heartfelt good wishes from here in the UK. Keep on keeping on, bro. Blessings to you.
I've been watching your channel very recently - less then a month. And I find it of a great value not only due to all the advises on pipe smoking, but also because how genuinely polite, delicate and calm your manner of speaking is. It is spectacular how I had just thought whether pipe smoking affected your health somehow and stumbled upon this video. I, myself, have asthma too and lately was worried if this new interest of mine - pipe smoking - would appear harmful to me. Thank you for the video, for all the videos. Thank you for being honest with us and take care of yourself. Best wishes from Russia
Thank you for the kind words my friend. I might have said this in the video, but for me, but if I am finding it hard to breathe because of asthma, smoking a pipe regulates my breathing causing the symptoms to subside
Very brave to talk about your condition, my daughter suffers from asthma , i so enjoy your videos my friend keep up the good work and happy piping to you sir
Brave, no, I did it out of fear, the fear of being perceived as a hypocrite, telling people there is little risk to smoking a pipe, while coughing like it's making me sick. Thank you for your kind words, and you know what it is like living with asthma, since your daughter has it. 😔😔😔😔
I love how you mentioned Czechoslovakia. Sadly to mention we split and now we are two separate countries, although we have very pleasant relationship. I have the very same condition you have and im 18. I am just getting into pipe smoking but im not sure if its a good idea due to this.
I know that this is a year late, but American public education rarely extends past ww2 (with the exception of the cold war/Vietnam although nothing beyond that unfortunately) which causes us to use "Czech republic" and "Czechoslovakia" interchangeably when referring your country, I hope this answers some confusion you might have.
Thanks Chris I lived with someone who suffered as you do and at times it frightened me. I’m an ex smoker but have always loved the smell of a pipe. I also have a lung complaint and people always blame the fact I was a smoker my wife blames smoking for everything even the doctors can not convince her it has nothing to do with it, I have fibrosis , they think I came into contact with asbestos at some time when I was a firefighter and it’s this that stops me from breathing to well but I would love to try my pipe again and I think the doctor would agree. You know your own body’s limits so please enjoy your smoke and think of me ( I cannot pass a tobacco shop with out going in and inhaling as deeply as I can . I love the videos please keep them coming. Phil form good old England .
If I can be a asthmatic firefighter then you can certainly enjoy your pipe. Thanks to inhalers and oral medicine I've been on the job for 8 years and never had a single asthma flair up while acting as a firefighter
I don't think you owe anybody an explanation but then again it's still a good topic worth discussing. By the way, I'm a subscriber based in the Philippines.
Thanks for understanding my friend, I have been to the Philippines once when I was in the Marine Corps, rode in a jeepnee, not sure how you spell that, and walked around looking at the sights. 👍👍👍😃
I love your honesty. I am new to pipe smoking and have been watching all of your videos. I love learning more about the culture and hobby and really dig your style. I think my favorite video so far has been your Pipe Collection video. I just stared in awe at how each one is perfect in its own way. I've never seen such a nice collection, its inspiring. Keep on keepin on, these videos are great.
Thank you my friend, I am greatful for your kind words, but I think honesty is one of the cornerstones of being a pipe smoker, if you are just starting out learning to smoke a pipe, putting tobacco in a pipe and smoking it just scratches the surface of what it is to be a pipe smoker congratulations and I hope your quest for cool smokes is a short one. 👍👍👍👍😃
As always, Chris.... Thank you for a great video. And for being honest. We do have a little (and growing!) family here and it's good to hear you are doing good. It was a great, reflective explanation of what's going on. Cheers, brother!
On my Channel, you are not considered a subscriber, its to cold of a word for a gathering of pipe smokers, instead you have joined the Muttnchop Pipe Club, the only, or most certainly the first on line pipe club. Welcome aboard my friend. :) :) :)
Thank you for the very nice words, my friend. :) I've watched more of your videos since I've posted this (especially from the Art of Piping series) and I can say that I'm very happy to have joined the Muttnchop Pipe Club! I really appreciate your in depth videos, considering that I'm a beginner pipe smoker. It's really tough to find good tobacco down here in Brazil, so I'm having a blast watching your videos :)
Cheers, fellow Brazilian pipe smoker! Is it easy to get hold of good tobacco down there in the south? The variety here in Rio is kinda bad, so I'll probably have to buy from São Paulo.
Sorry to hear about the Asthma. I have it, too, but not as bad. I have a little cough too, but I just started smoking pipes again, after about a dozen years away from it.
As much as anyone is concerned about your health, it is your business and your choice to make. I appreciate your videos and I appreciate the personal information shared with us in this video. Pipe smoking isn't what people think in terms of major health concerns. Just like anything we consume, there is a certain amount of risk. I fear most opinions on the internet aren't educated opinions as we all know. Your videos are relaxing and educational to me, I hope to watch many more in the future. Good day!
This is a sincere answer to a question. There is almost NO toilet paper, public transport is every day worse, and of course asthma inhalers are unavailable, the crime rate is incredible, inflation is the highest in the world... The people in government are rich, very rich. Pipe Tobacco is now a luxury. When there is government control of the production and distribution of all goods only those with contacts can get them. Normal people become beggars, that my friend is life in this paradise. I got a pre-transition Barling this week for about the equivalent of one (yes 1) US Dollar. The use of a pipe is fortunately a relaxing anti-stress medicine. And because this are videos about pipes I ask your pardon and won't say anything more about something not directly pipe related.Peter
D Williams - It’s the weirdest thing to experience, I can inhale just fine, but I can’t exhale, it really is scary, with my medication I haven’t experienced an attack in years, and I hope it stays that way. 👍👍👍
That's a tough condition Chris, but it sounds like you have a handle on it now. My Mom was a heavy cigarette smoker and had asthma. I remember her attacks, they were scary as hell. Thanks for the explanation, I had noticed the cough, but I figured it was just a cough and you were aware of it, so not my business. Glad you are doing well.Take care,Stephen
New to your channel, I think you're a cool, honest man. I have had asthma my whole life of 24 years, still fighting it! Thanks for putting yourself out there for us ya Piper, a real gentleman
Sorry to hear about your condition. I also am severe asthmatic the funny thing is the few things I'm not allergic smoke and smoking are on that short list. I smoked cigarettes 20yrs, I started pipe smoking and have not picked a cigarette since. I don't us my rescue inhaler near as much as I did when I smoked cigarettes. Thank you for opening up about somethings like this. ASTHMA: because of all the things we could be bad at, we suck at breathing.
Smoking as an asthma cure? Seems unlikely but it is a true fact. If you don't inhale, and most pipe smokers don't, using a pipe can be a healthy endeavour. I have asthma nervosa, and the anti stress properties of pipe smoking really help. I live in Venezuela and here there are almost no medicines, so tobacco is a sort of natural remedy. Glad you explained the reason for your cough! ☺ The current correct cultural truth about tobacco is short sighted and fanatical, perhaps will be more tolerant in the future? I really hope so! Peter
Another great video, Chris! I wish you the best control possible of your asthma condition. I suffer from allergic sinusitis and have to be very conservative on pipesmoking. Usually a bowl a week. That's OK, I got used to it and I'm happy with the frequency of my pipesmoking. Take care and congratulations! You're channel is awesome!
Great video Chris..... All I know is....pipe smoking really does slow me down. When I just need my nic fix I have a cigarette. .. but when I want to slow down... I grab my pipe. Thanks for sharing about your health and the fact it is not pipe smoking that is the cause. Happy Puffing Mike.
Thank you for sharing, I'm sorry that immature, opinionated viewers caused you to feel the need to explain yourself and clear your name a bit. Aside from that God bless you, I'm glad you have adequate treatment and can share with us the hobby that enhances your life and also treats your condition, keep on piping, and keep sharing your experience with us!
Chris, thanks for the insightful video. I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious about your cough. I have been having an internal debate/dialogue in my head about my own pipe smoking. So, I haven't been smoking for a while. I just recently picked it back up, and have watched most of you videos. Thanks for the solid/informative videos!
Hey @Muttnchop Piper, I am new to pipe smoking and I'm exploring your channel. All your videos are incredibly useful. I was a cigarettes smoker, and I had coughed for a long time. Quit smoking but the cough was still there. Eventually it was chronic bronchitis. A little tip from Greece ^^, Boil oregano like tea and put some honey or boil it along with tea. (If you can't afford it's taste) Cheers
I also have asthma. I will tell you this, when I switched from cigarettes to a pipe, I stopped having the issues I had as a cigarette smoker. I attribute that completely to the fact that I was no longer inhaling the smoke. Like you, I have to watch my symptoms and stay on top of my meds. But I honestly think smoking a pipe has had no ill effects on my asthma. So, I completely concur with what you say.
Hey Chris, i got this condition aswell the condition i have is called outward filterless speaking , ITS NONE OF THERES OR ANYONES BUSINESS , just wanted to say im sorry that you felt you had to defend yourself and pipesmoking , but wanted to say thank you for caring enough that you wanted to let ppl kno , cuz if it wuda been me all thry wida gotten is " my life is my flippin business " or worse ! Keepem comin brother
I understand you completely but i do also understand as should everyone the we all accept the inherant risk of our decisions wether it be pipes or drinking mtn dew which bythway is my biggest weakness all im saying is i think we shud remember that without making or fellow man out something he wanted to keep private just to defend something else he is passionate about even if it has or could have side effects , not trying to start anything just felt it should be said , brother u keep doin you!
+Rodney Burton couldn't have said it better, thank you for you're support my friend. ( I am a slave to Mountain Dew as well, but mine is sugar free lol) be well brother. 👍👍👍
dear Sir, thx again for the video. You are the great pipe expert! And you control yourself appropriately. I wish you enjoyable time and I hope at some point to see you and shake your hand. I wish to You & Family happy piping.
You are a good hearted man. Sorry about your condition. Breathing issues sucks no punt intended. In the TH-cam world you are always going to have trolls, anti nannies, and people that just can't help themselves. Take care and be well.
Oh I know about the negative side of TH-cam and most of the time I can deal with it, but I felt this time if a couple of people are openly questioning why I cough, there may be a lot more who question it privately. I didn't want to be perceived as a hypocrite, telling people Pipe Smoking is relatively safe, then coughing like it's not. All is good now, you know why I cough, so let's move on to more positive subjects. 😃😃😃
Im in the same boat with severe asthma, I also love the relaxing effects of pipe smoking on my lungs. Heres a fun fact, Saint Bernadette was prescribed snuff by her Doctor to help control her asthma.
Asthma is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s widespread. My son has asthma and came close to serious risk to life as a baby. As a dad, it’s frighteneing. But he’s gotten used to living with it as he’s grown up, but he doesn’t cough.
longhaullarry here thanks to Muttnchop piper for the info about blend club ..I've watched it a bit but need to watch more...like I mentioned before some of the blends I see on your sight as well what you have talked about sound soooooooo good but hard to get. Even on Ebay hard to get ..if I may on you should try is an English blend called (king St W Legend) .This blend is very good in my peterson Marktwain commeritive 1835 - 1985 gold band pipe that I picked up at an antique sale it's in great shape. Thought I would shear it ...but you must try the King St W Legend...thanks again happy pipe to you and all...
Hi Mr.Piper when I was younger I to had severe Asthma, to the point of needing up to 4 inhalers daily. When I started smoking cigarettes it seemed to help with it and it was confirmed by my doctor at the time that the smoke help strengthen my lung in which helped reduce my asthma attacks. The point I am making is maybe by you smoking a pipe you are helping your lung remain strong, even with what trace amounts of smoke you are inhaling
mike hillard - That’s a good possibility, because I have noticed I have not been having the difficulty breathing right before I administer the medicine as I once did, it’s still bad, but not quite as bad as it once was. 👍👍👍
I also have asthma. I smoked cigarettes for 12 years. I switched to pipe smoking much like you did, with the caveat that I became intrigued, not by The Lord of the Rings, but by the scene in The Hobbit where the party of drawfs, led by Thorin, were smoking pipe and singing song in Bilbo's home, right before setting out on their journey. I have been pipe smoking ever since and have come to understand the totality of why it is considered a hobby. Through a regime of intermittent fasting, ketogenic dieting and moderate, daily exercise, the chronic inflammation that is the definition of chronic asthma does not bother me anymore. My respiratory specialist has even downgraded my daily management medication, and I live relatively asthma free due to this lifestyle, which includes pipe tobacco (2-4 bowls a day). I said all that to say this: people tend to distill the question of health and tobacco use down to "do you use tobacco?"...period. They don't know any better, and besides, there are very few studies that isolate pipe tobacco use from simply "tobacco use" out there. As anecdotal as I know it sounds, I've dramatically improved my chronic inflammation issues associated with my asthma with lifestyle changes associated with diet and exercise, in spite of my tobacco use. I'm not endorsing the habit (hobby), I just felt compelled to comment because our lives are similar in that regard. God Bless.
Tim T - I understand my friend, I to love that scene from the Hobbit, what got me was the images of Bilbo smoking his pipe on a bench near his door as Gandalf walks up and starts talking to him. I am glad your asthma has subsided, unfortunately for me, the only thing that helps is the medication. When I first got asthma my Doctor told me if I have an attack, that getting scared causes Adrenaline to flow which makes things worse, so Pipe Smoking helps keep me calm. 👍👍👍
Hi Muttnchop Piper and Tim. Can you please give me some advice on inhaling. I recently moved after the majority of my life being a smoker of cigarettes at age 40 to piping. My Health concern is that everywhere I read they say pipers don't inhale and inhaling is much worse than cigarette tobacco. Coming from cigarettes I feel I cannot enjoy the pipe if I do not inhale. Should i stop inhaling? Im using a pipe filters.
When I first heard your cough I did not even think twice about it because I knew it was clearly not a smokers cough and was simply something to do with a “personal” health condition.
Thank you for sharing these information, but I am sorry that you reveal some of these info against your will. I really appreciate your honesty and I wish you easy, fresh breathing. I did my homework and as you said it was much harder than I thought.
Dear Mr.Chris,Thank you for sharing this with us as friends.Your video is unique and professional. I like the way that you explain to us and this show your intelligence and high level of IQ,I am pretty sure if you want to explain any physics or chemistry also you are able to handle it.I really appreciate for your patience with some nasty people who doesn't have any talent and just want to judge the other successful people. I like your video and I try to learn from you not only how to smoking my pipe, more importantly how to like the job and duty and do things in correct and best like you . Thank for your kind support. Best Regard's
well spoken sir very good explanation of astma I my self have a condition named copd and smoke pipe already 35 years without a problem but only enjoyment just subscribed to your chanel so keep the videos coming thanx
pedrsverge - Thank you my friend, I got tired of the “ Nice cough you got there, I wonder where that comes from” comments I was getting, so I needed to set the story strait. By the way, you don’t subscribe to my channel, that’s to cold of a word for who we are, instead I like to say you have joined the only TH-cam pipe club (as far as I know) called the Muttnchop pipe club. Welcome to the club my friend. 👍👍👍
I had asthma trouble when I was very young. The symptoms felt exactly like wearing a surgical mask. Restricted airflow, premature exhaustion, light-headedness, and migraines to follow.
Great video once again! I have cold air induced and allergic type asthma. Pipe smoking has never caused me any problems of course I'm never inhaling when smoking. Acid reflux and heartburn and other issues will make you cough too. THanks Muttonchop
I've had asthma since just after birth, hospitalized numerous times as a child and teenager, had a lung collapse, but thank god I had a neighbor who was a Glaxo rep. I was able to get my inhalers for free after the age of ten. Now I'm over 50, I became a scuba diver (something you were never supposed to do as an asthmatic), then a rescue diver, in the Navy I was a ships swimmer, in law enforcement I was a ERT member,Dive rescue and recovery, in addition to my other duties, and had asthma all the time, just kept it under control! Then they outlawed the delivery system for albuterol because they claimed it was making a hole in the ozone. What rubbish. The current inhalers are so ineffective compared to the ones I used to get. I feel for you, Sir, I never smoked at all until I retired, and the smoke has never caused me a problem in regards to my asthma. It's a crummy way to grow up, but at least I did grow up. I know of others who didn't make it. Just recently a young girl died at an airport near me from an asthma attack. Seven years old. You'd think they would have this handled in our country by now. Seems like we're regressing rather than moving forward anymore. Sorry to rant, just wanted to let you know some of us understand.
RavensHammer00 - WOW!!! Talk about a rough life, you sir have lived one.. thank you for serving our country, especially under the conditions you had to endure, and for all the other public service you have provided throughout your life. People often ask me what it feels like to have asthma and I tell them this; go home and try this experiment, take a clean sock, ball it up and put it in your mouth, pinch off your nose and breathe through the sock only. A couple of days later, or after they have conducted the experiment they say, that can’t be right, I couldn’t breathe to the point of almost passing out, yea, welcome to an asthmatics world. 😏😏😏
@@MuttnchopPiper Well Sir, it gets worse before it gets better. About 10 years ago I was doing a recovery of a drowning victim in a swift river. I ended up getting an infection. The doctors are not sure what happened. It was either the original bacteria, the antibiotics, or my own immune system, but it attacked my CNS, and I end ed up with damage to my brain stem and cerebellum. I lost a third of my right hemisphere, and ended up in a chair for about 2 years, relearning how to talk, walk, eat and drink without choking, what you can expect from brain damage. It's been a fight for going on 10 years this May, but I can walk (a little unevenly) using a cane, I can bench press more that I used to, on a machine I can still squat about 500 lbs, my hearing isn't all that great and I still have balance issues, but I think I have more fun now than I used to. My uncle smoked a pipe, and I remembers how I liked the smell, so I took it up, and I'm surprised at how well it relaxes me. I'm re-hydrating some of my older blends, since I found your video on how to do that. And I'm sadly smoking the last bit of my Frog Morton's Cellar. Thank you for your service, Sir, and for your relaxing videos. I'm just sorry it's taken me so long to find them! Jim
RavensHammer00 - What an inspirational story my friend, I’m glad you are on the mend, and I am happy that Pipe Smoking has been a good friend to you. 👍👍👍
@@MuttnchopPiper I actually own all the glory to God. He's been with me every step of the way. He's the reason I can cope with the constant pain like I do. But a pipe every now and then is nice too!
Every Smoking product is harm. That's true. But Pipe and Cigar are less harmful and addictive. Now I've quited Cigarettes and I sometimes spend time on smoking Pipe and Cigar. That's really cool.
Philipp W. - thank you my friend, I have a group of videos called just the basics, so when you get a pipe and some tobacco watch that group of videos first, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. 👍👍👍
Thanks for letting us know about that. I thought it was a general cough nothing to do with smoking your pipe. I had no idea that you had asthma. By the way my wife has started pipe smoking with me. She used to smoke cigarettes for a while then quit. She thought that since pipe smoking was a safer alternative and liked smoking, she would give it a try and she seems to like it . So now we have something else we can do together. Thought i would share that with you. happy piping.
Lucky man, I wish my wife would smoke a pipe with me, but she has no interest, thanks for your support of me and my channel, cool smokes to you and your wife my friend. 👍👍😃
Hmm. Hey, man. It's a shame that you felt cornered into discussing something you didn't want to, but I'm always a fan of rational discourse and simple explanations. Always good to watch your chat.
It's over and done with, I feel better in the fact that everyone knows that pipe smoking is and has not made me sick, thanks for your words of encouragement, it means a lot. 👍👍👍😃
I understand where you are coming from. I lived in Florida for 4 years and the water in the air made it horrible for me, I was at the gym and just about stopped breathing with the combination of the exertion and the humidity. I'm almost always hacking up phlegm from my chest and throat. Just started smoking pipe I use briar, a poker pipe I carved from a magnolia branch, and a yello bole brylon in the mail (Sue me for using it haha) it helps me think and relax. Anyway thank you for sharing this video with us
Louie Bookie - yeah, it's a tough thing to deal with, a friend of mine once said "It can't be that bad" so I told him get a sock, he did, then I told him roll it up and put it in your mouth, he did, then I held his nose closed and told him to breathe through his mouth, he lasted about 10 seconds, he commented, that he noticed he got scared and it got harder to breathe, I told him yep, that's adrenaline it makes it worse, that's why when I feel an attack coming, I have to sit, and calmly breathe in and out until it passes. 😏😏😏
I must thank you for this video. Probably the most useful i’ve seen so far on this channel. In fact i think you have achieved the purpose pf helping a potentiel future pipe enjoyer: as i am just 17 i can’t smoke yet, but in the future i will probably try to enter the world of pipes (not for addiction or things like that, but just because of the charm such a “cultural phenomenum” has on me). But i has a big concerne on ramingò a decision on that, as i am affected by acute asthma, but now i’m less worried and quite happy since now i know that one day i’ll have the possibility to experience pipe smoking, despite this condition.
😔 I'm scared you might stop making TH-cam video. They are very therapeutic because your of tender and gentle voice is very calming for me; on top of that, you are a good looking man haha you look like a famous movie actor or an artist. Well, I appreciate your video and I really hope you have a great life without interferences by negative comments.
It's a pretty late comment but better late than never. Just wanted to ask if you heared about Buteyko breathing method. It's a natural way of curing asthma. I didn't cure asthma myself but I did cure pretty heavy pollen allergy. Anyway, hope you are doing well sir and I wish you all the best. Happy piping :)
I am glad that you mentioned that you have fans from the czechoslovakia, but this country does not exist since 1993, now we are the czech republic and slovakia, just to let you know😅
I really enjoy watching you and your videos. Mean people and their comments suck! Lol. Thank you for your videos, and your openness. Since we are being honest, I have hemorrhoids and sometimes my farts smell really bad.lol. Just kidding, they always smell bad!👍
I like where our conversations go. You may not realize, but you’re a friend to many of us. Keep taking care of yourself and give me more life advice:)
Tim Pearson - Thanks Tim, I’ll do my best. 👍👍👍

My mother has struggled with asthma her whole life. I am very familiar with how scary it can be. Stress and make it much worse and I can totally see how having a pipe can help with managing stress levels. It defiantly does for me. Take care of yourself and happy piping!
I wish you good health Chris! You are doing splendid job. Cheers from the Czech Republic.
Thank you my friend. 😃😃
Explain ""(leukoplakia)"" and tobacco please answer I would love to hear what you think please and thank you
So sorry to hear about your condition.
Explain ""(leukoplakia)"" and tobacco please answer I would love to hear what you think please and thank you
I really enjoy your videos.
You do a great job teaching people about the lifestyle of being a pipe smoker keep up the great work.
Ian Russell - Thanks Ian, I appreciate the compliment. 👍👍👍
In also run from time to time, and found that my lung capacity has not been affected by pipe smoking
Semper Fi.
Christian Blade That's the reason why I quitted every medias. Anti Smoking Nazi and some retarded videos etc.
Subscribers from Czechoslovakia, North Vietnam, the Union. XD I always knew this guy is from the past. :D Legend.
Im an asthma sufferer too and I agree that pipe smoking is a great relief for my general health due to calming effect; living with asthma is a very stressful experience generally, it is a little bit panicky at times so I agree completely with this video, some relaxation is much needed for the asthmatic person. thank you.
Man you are classy, true gentleman and this is what I like in your channel
This guy is like the Hank hill of pipe smoking. I love it.
I love the juxtaposition of his pipe-ware, up top, and the origin of his decision to begin smoking pipes, below.
I also have asthma although not severe like yours, your videos have been a huge help especially this one. My grandpa always smoked a pipe so I've been very interested in keeping that tradition alive, thank you!
Devon Guyette - You are very welcome my friend. 👍👍👍
The books on your shelf caught my eye. love the Iron Tower Books and the Silver Call. Tolkien is, of course, a given.
Great video.
steve thepirate - I love the iron tower books as well, some of my favorites. 👍👍👍
Thanks Eric, I appreciate the support. 👍👍😃
What a good man you are ,taking time to explain to someone your "condition" that doesn't even know you!!Thank you sir for all your videos i saw many of them ,but this is one of the best 'my opinion' haha
Chris you are one of the TH-camrs that I started off watching for the subject matter and end up watching mainly to learn your attitude towards life and other fellow human beings.
all of love from egypt i need you to know sir im a pipe smoker from egypt and i wish you a happy life
Hello Chris, just found your channel while watching some videos pertaining to this FDA ordeal and I will be subscribing in just a moment.
Regards,
Zach
Thanks Zach. I appreciate the kind words and welcome to the Muttnchop pipe club. 👍👍👍😃
Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for your calming presence. I wish you and yours, happy pipe smoking from North Carolina.
I have the same condition and you have what I call a "signature cough" where your family know where you are because they can hear you trying to clear your throat. Thank you for a very informative video chris
Thanks for the support my friend. 😃😃
Man i have so much respect for you! You re a true gentleman
Elmohand tawfeek - Thank you my friend I appreciate you saying that. 👍👍👍
Good stuff mate. Glad you found something that works for you. Don't let these puritans try and tell you the "correct" way to live your life.
Thank you my friend. 😃😃😃
A gentle handshake. .. and true respect.. from India..
I appreciate this vid…I’m 45, new to pipes and just encountered a hemorrhoid incident from lifting too much weight thinking I’m still 25. 🤦🏼♂️ …ugh
I would do whatever makes you feel comfortable, it doesn't appear to bother me. 😃😃😃
@@Phuzzylumpkinzz I know this is two years late, but this is epic.
I am sooo glad that it isnt anything to severe (not to say asthma doesnt cause problems or isnt bad), thank god please keep the vidoes up
kekistan warrior - I will my friend, and thank you. 👍👍👍
If I can be a asthmatic firefighter then you can certainly enjoy your pipe. Thanks to inhalers and oral medicine I've been on the job for 8 years and never had a single asthma flair up while acting as a firefighter
CharlieMic5 - That’s great to hear, and thank you for your service as a firefighter, you are very much appreciated. 👍👍👍
I switched from cigarettes to pipe smoking.... It's been a positive change for me health wise.
You bring unbeleveable wisdom and calmness to your vids. I hope you keep making them for years!! ;)
As long as there are subjects to make videos on, I plan on it. 😃😃
+Stjepan Brkić I can do that. 👍👍
As always, Chris.... Thank you for a great video. And for being honest. We do have a little (and growing!) family here and it's good to hear you are doing good. It was a great, reflective explanation of what's going on. Cheers, brother!
Thanks Steve. 👍👍👍
Cheers to your health, sir. Thank you for the video.
1:00 you've got subscribers from Rio de Janeiro, huh? Well, you've just got yourself another one! Cheers from Rio!
On my Channel, you are not considered a subscriber, its to cold of a word for a gathering of pipe smokers, instead you have joined the Muttnchop Pipe Club, the only, or most certainly the first on line pipe club. Welcome aboard my friend. :) :) :)
Another Brazilian here. City of Pelotas, state of Rio Grande do Sul (extreme south of Brazil). Cheers, gentleman!
Good day!
kya rush - Very well said my friend, very well said, thank you. 👍👍👍
You're right about the being calm part. My friend used to have asthma attacks and by panicking it made it even worse.
Thanks Stephen. 👍👍👍
New to your channel, I think you're a cool, honest man. I have had asthma my whole life of 24 years, still fighting it! Thanks for putting yourself out there for us ya Piper, a real gentleman
Gordon Littell - Thank you for the kind words my friend. 👍👍👍
Lol,lol, pun intended I suppose, yes we do. 👍👍👍
Thank you for sharing and being honest about your health, all the best to your condition. 👍
Here's hoping you're well, Mr. Sheets. I'm having to watch reruns of your videos.
Peter
Peter Jaimez - Thanks peter, I appreciate the understanding. 👍👍👍
Why don't they have medicine in Venezuela? Isn't Venezuela a socialist paradise?
Another great video, Chris! I wish you the best control possible of your asthma condition. I suffer from allergic sinusitis and have to be very conservative on pipesmoking. Usually a bowl a week. That's OK, I got used to it and I'm happy with the frequency of my pipesmoking. Take care and congratulations! You're channel is awesome!
Thank you my friend. 👍👍👍😃
Explain ""(leukoplakia)"" and tobacco please answer I would love to hear what you think please and thank you
Hi Chris, thanks a lot letting us know something so private and personal.
Take care Buddy! Michael
You are welcome my friend. 👍👍👍
Great video Chris..... All I know is....pipe smoking really does slow me down. When I just need my nic fix I have a cigarette. .. but when I want to slow down... I grab my pipe. Thanks for sharing about your health and the fact it is not pipe smoking that is the cause. Happy Puffing
Mike.
Thanks Mike. 😃😃😃
I wish you good health Chris! You are doing splendid job. Alexandros from Greece
Alexandros Ch - Thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
You're welcome my friend. 👍👍👍
Thanks Amy. 👍👍
Thanks Rodney, hypocrisy is a concern of mine, don't like it in others, and I don't want to be perceived as one. So thanks for your support. 👍👍👍
+Muttnchop Piper I figured you had a tickle in your throat. Love the videos and can't wait to see some future ones. Take care and be well;)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Im in the same boat with severe asthma, I also love the relaxing effects of pipe smoking on my lungs.
Heres a fun fact, Saint Bernadette was prescribed snuff by her Doctor to help control her asthma.
John Polcin - I wonder if it worked 👍
We love ya Chris.... Going over 14,000 Subs strong brother. Keep it up.
Fly Tying with Justin Aldrich. - Thank you my friend. 👍😃😃
You are doing a good job Chris dont worry about the rest.👍
Explain ""(leukoplakia)"" and tobacco please answer I would love to hear what you think please and thank you
nice vid Chris. I liked it. Thanks. I like so much to see your vids.
Thank you my friend. 😃😃😃

captain Price, is that you!?
Lol,lol 😃😃😃
Yeah He resemble Price.
I love your videos! Thanks for the content. Keep it up!
well spoken sir very good explanation of astma I my self have a condition named copd and smoke pipe already 35 years without a problem but only enjoyment just subscribed to your chanel so keep the videos coming thanx
pedrsverge - Thank you my friend, I got tired of the “ Nice cough you got there, I wonder where that comes from” comments I was getting, so I needed to set the story strait. By the way, you don’t subscribe to my channel, that’s to cold of a word for who we are, instead I like to say you have joined the only TH-cam pipe club (as far as I know) called the Muttnchop pipe club. Welcome to the club my friend. 👍👍👍

I wish you good health Chris, always enjoy your videos. Happy smokes from Scotland. :)
Thank you my friend. 😃😃😃
thank for explaining your azma part of your health to us
I had asthma trouble when I was very young.
Thanks Mark, 😃😃😃
Explain ""(leukoplakia)"" and tobacco please answer I would love to hear what you think please and thank you
I've had asthma since just after birth, hospitalized numerous times as a child and teenager, had a lung collapse, but thank god I had a neighbor who was a Glaxo rep.

Jinn the Nerd - Very well said my friend, very well said. 👍👍👍
Thanks for agree.
Respect to you, keep on making great vids, you showed me how relaxing piping can be so I at least want to try it.
You are such a good man, and i very much like watching your videos although i am not a pipe smoker, not had any thoughts of trying it yet.
Ze'ev Ben-David - Thank you my friend, I appreciate the kind words. 👍👍👍
Jay Yoon - Don’t worry my friend, I plan on lots more videos, I’m just slowing down, thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it. 👍👍👍
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome my friend. 👍👍😃
I am glad that you mentioned that you have fans from the czechoslovakia, but this country does not exist since 1993, now we are the czech republic and slovakia, just to let you know😅
Thank you for sharing your videos with us, greatly appreciated! Happy piping!
You're welcome my friend. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the video presentation.
I really enjoy watching you and your videos. Mean people and their comments suck! Lol. Thank you for your videos, and your openness. Since we are being honest, I have hemorrhoids and sometimes my farts smell really bad.lol. Just kidding, they always smell bad!👍
