    Thank you for the 4 tutorials about tailoring a T-shirt. I will be using what I learned to make a number of my T-shirts fit better. I hope you will be making many more videos, because you are an excellent instructor. My first 2 requests would be how to tailor a lined jacket where the shoulders are too wide. Also, on a blouse with long sleeves and cuffs - how to shorten the sleeves.

    This was really helpful! Question: when you're pinning the shirt on yourself in order to find out how much you need to take everything in, how do you take the shirt off without either disturbing the pins or poking yourself?

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Very carefully! Sometimes pins do fall out. But it's pretty evident where they came from and how much it was pinned so I just put it back where it was. Weaving the pin in and out of the fabric a bit can help make them more secure.

    Why not start fitting with the shirt inside out? Much easier

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I explain this. Some people are different on each side of their body. If you pin it inside out, you'll be pinning for the opposite side it's worn on. It's also easier to mark with chalk on the inside if the pins are on the outside.

    could you do a video of you turning it into a v neck?

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I could, but I likely will not. To turn it into a v neck you'll need extra collar ribbing as the neck opening will be bigger.

    Do you have a good place to get ball point needles, or are they sometimes called something else? I looked on Amazon and Ali express, and all I could find were "universal" and I didn't know if that was the same thing.

    Question - do you have to steam/iron these altered t-shirts forever?

  • @JRoChi
    @JRoChi 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    ❓Q: what’s the best way to resize the v-neck in a tee? Once I make the sides and sleeves smaller, I’ve still got a really low v-neckline. Not sure if I should use this same method to lift a bit at the shoulders. I don’t want to ruin the neckline.

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The only way to make the neckline smaller is to take up the shoulders through the neckline. You'll want to do this first as it will bring up the shirt and effect how everything else fits.

  • @ivividly

    Can’t you just put the tee on inside out 🤷‍♀️

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You can do whatever you want! But I prefer to pin this way as it's easier to mark it worth chalk after. And if there are variances in the shirt or the body it'll be pinned for the side it's worn on.

    • @wattle2394
      @wattle2394 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TailorItYourself FYI, it's still the same side of your body even it it's inside out. :)

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @wattle2394 Try a garment on inside out. Put a pin in one side and then flip it right side out. You'll find that the pin is now on the opposite side.

  • @waffle_chair9269
    @waffle_chair9269 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    It’s looks great and good video, but why would you bring in the shoulder seams? It makes your shoulders look narrow and rounded. A wide shoulder, makes the hips and waist look more slim, with a sharper look, so making the top more narrow makes no senses. I think you’d look much better proportioned and tailored, baby taking in the sides alone. Wider shoulders help create the illusion of the feminine hour glass silhouette , even when there isn’t one, so I don’t know why someone would want to hide that? Male or female, strong defined shoulders are a sign of good health, as opposed yo weak rounded narrow ones.

    • @TailorItYourself
      @TailorItYourself  หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      I disagree, and also explain this in the video. Wider shoulders give me a more boxy look, and emphasize my bust, which I want to reduce. If you watched the whole thing, you'll also know that in the next video I take in the sides of the shirt. The combination of all the steps I take in the series makes the shirt much more flattering, and more importantly, is to my preference. That's what this series is all about - making someone feel comfortable in their clothes. I feel like a line backer in a shirt that's too broad in the shoulders. If that's not your preference, then you don't have to narrow the shoulders on your shirts. But I do what works for me.
