      Ok, the bottom of the clamp is 1/4 inch above where the indentation starts. So I would assume that the rail sits 1/2 below that. So once installed you should never need to remove. I only remove mine to make other products videos or I would never remove it. One last thing, the cover has been on for a year and has held up perfectly.

    This all makes sense as long as the weather stays warm. Once the cold weather hits the tonneau cover and it shrinks, then you will appreciate a tri-fold cover that maintains its original dimensions.

      I liked my trifold on my Tacoma, I had the longer bed. I’ll tell you a sad story about it. I was only held down with the 4 clamps that came with it. I was driving on the highway and I heard this noise. The trifold blew off. I saw it in my rear view mirror, it flew in the air and sail over the side of the bridge I was on, into the woods. Thank god there wasn’t anyone behind me. If I ever get another one I am tying the cab side of the cover to the bed cleats. Have a great day.

      It’s been great, I would definitely by it again. I live in Florida, and the truck is outside. The sun eats up cheap fabric/vinyl this cover looks like it a month old. I don’t know about snow load. Also I definitely know I do not want a trifold with a small bed. last thing, remember, this is a $200 great quality cover, it’s not a $1000 cover. You can’t go wrong. I just posted a video yesterday on my broken rear window, you can see the cover pretty good in that video. Good luck in your choice.

    I might be giving this one a try when my Maverick comes in. I'm not too worried about water penetration, more to keep debris out from trees over my driveway. I like the Bed Rug too, thinking of doing the same as I already had one an know how they hold up to being wet, dirty, or in the weather.
    Update: My Maverick came in and I opted for a Tonno Pro soft roll-up. Simple install, looks good, and sits a bit lower than the traditional tri-folds(not by much). Also did my Bed Rug, too.

      Hi Fred: Just installed this bed cover per your video yesterday. Your video made installation so easy. In my case, I have a Factory Spray in Bedliner and the spray goes under the lip where the clamps engage making the clamp bolts too short. I had to get 1/8" longer countersunk Allen head screws. Other than that the installation was easy.
      I do have a question: the soft cover material is stretched tight when closed. However, when I get above 40 MPH the material starts to bounce and I am worried that it will eventually wear out. Believe me, it is stretched tight when closed. Is this normal?

    Great video, but I have a couple of questions. I have a 2024 Hybrid Lariat. 1- Do I need to remove my rail system with the tie down cleats? 2- How water tight is it? Could I haul luggage under it across country with no fear of getting wet?
    Thanks again for the video.

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, I do not have the rail system so it hard for me to judge, and when I go look at the truck later today I will look to see how much space is between the bottom of the clamp to the recessed area for the rail and add another reply. But what you can do is always put the clamps together by the tailgate and then slide them forwards into position if the rails thickness prevents the clamp bottom from being attach with the rail. Make sure you add a dab of ( antisieze ) I take it off a lot to show other projects and it’s a aluminum bracket with a stainless steel bolt, I live where there is a lot of salt air. Watertight. You must add the silicone as shown, I live in Florida. We have had 2 hurricanes and it sometimes rains worse that a car wash and I have had no water in the bed. Now nothing is 💯 waterproof, but I have gone in several hour trips with my luggage in the bed and have never worried about it getting wet. For the money it’s a great cover.

    That was a brilliant and entertaining review!. After looking at reviews all day long that various issues, you actually problem solve .. eg the water issues with the maverick bed. One question .. in a few days and after the cover stretches/flattens out, is it still necessary to "clean up" the seams each time you roll the cover back into place? I went with a tri-fold (for my Jeep Gladiator), mostly because it gives me a bit more security, and I didn't want to pay any more than $1K for a "decent" hard-cover. In the future though, MAY go for one of the top-dog (and likewise WAY more expensive) bed-covers: Renegade. It's clearly more secure/harder to break into than my tri-fold. Between the 2 (TMK) top-dog "serious" bed-covers -- Diamond Back & Renegade -- I like the Renegade better...even though I'll probably NEVER need to carry 2000lbs on top of it!

      Thanks, here is the cover I used. It’s been a few months and it’s been great for the money.

    I'm thinking about getting one but I'm wondering how it would hold up to ice and snow.

      Well it’s hard for me to say about the snow and ice since I live in Florida. But I can tell you this, I have installed a roll up and a trifold and I personally think the roll up is sturdier for 2 reasons. 1 the unsupported space seems to be smaller in the roll up than the trifold. 2 if their is to much weight in it roll up the Velcro will let go before the cover rips. Now I’m talking about inexpensive covers you can pay a lot more and get a roll up with a lot of bars that is much stronger or a solid one. Like this one.

    Great video. I really like the mat you have in the bed. Where did you get it?

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Amazon. I actually search bed mat and the Maverick one was $160 so I went into the filter and their was a Dodge ram one for $50 so I purchased that and cut it with a razor knife. Good luck

    Fred, did you use the weather strip that goes behind the window?

    • @fredsgarage1925
      @fredsgarage1925  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, on mine it has a large built in weather strip built in to the cover, Also since the sides and cross strip behind the rear window are basically the same height. I did silicone the joint like in the video. So you don’t need it. It really only to fill in if there is a difference in height in the cross rail is lower. I have had no leaks. I don’t use a car wash so don’t know about that.

      Mine has the built in weatherstrip also, so I took your advice and did not use the additional. Thanks again, it looks great on my Maverick. @@fredsgarage1925

    Your link takes me to a trifold? I can’t find a soft tonneau from that company.

      Let me look it up, which video did you watch? The soft fold or the trifold video, there are 2 videos.

      I just checked the he video and the link. They have my cover as currently not available. I’ll have to look for another quality roll up one. I had the tyger one in my Tacoma and it was still in good shape when I returned the Tacoma. It was a lease. Thank for letting me know. I’ll have to check all the links now.

    After 4 months are you still happy with the tonneau cover?

    • @fredsgarage1925

      Yes, I have no complaints about it. It’s help up good to this crazy Florida heat and after 2 long highway trips it’s on nice and tight.

      Look at my hart with the palm trees in the back of the Maverick. I could of never fit them in the bed with a trifold. Good luck
