There will be a separate video with our final thoughts on the Season coming soon. I was having technical difficulties so I wanted to get the recap part out today.
Oh god I have so many issues with this show. I thought it was terrible. But shows are bad sometimes, no big deal. My deeper concern is the media giving it 5 star reviews. If the scientists were all women and the native killers men, would it be 5? If this was a male buddy cop show like before would it be 5? Time is a flat culture war.
It makes no sense that Hank and the mine had anything to do with the tongue given the 6-year gap between him moving the body and it showing up at Tsalal. Why would he keep it frozen for that long? As with (way too) many things in this series it was just meant to be something spooky with implied possible supernatural explanation, but for which we never get ANY explanation.
Don't understand why Hank found Annie dead, decided to carry her up a 100 foot latter, chop off her tongue, & preserve it for years. So much of this season made no fkn sense
They provided almost no context for anything interesting that occurred. Some decent story possibilities. But the ones they chose and the execution was awful.
Just as in the Wheeler case, nothing was done until after the woman had died. The women of Ennis knew nothing would be done about Annie's murder, the deaths of the babies or the contaminated water. So, they took matters into their own hands. -Sending the scientists out on the tundra was a 'Let the Goddess sort them out' moment. I'm not very familiar with the effects of a slab avalanche, but if they simply froze to death, they would not be in positions of motion as they were found. -Man thinks he's in control of everything. Until Mother Nature 'Sedna' proves them otherwise. The scientists were beyond angry to see that their years of work was destroyed, that they would not 'save the world' and receive all the glory for doing so. They did not care that there were already casualties in their wake, so what would another matter? After six years they seemed quite happy in their safe space, going on with their research, watching movies, making photo-worthy sandwiches, until that fateful moment of 'She's Awake' arrived.
Great discussion. Thank you all for a great season. Why keep the murder weapon or is this the only instrument of this type? When Navarro and Danvers are getting “their story” from the Revenge Posse the reminder is as we have seen through the season, from Danvers about Wheeler, from Clark about Annie’s death, that the stories don’t always relate actual events. “Stories are just stories”. I had been wrong about Rose warning Navarro “don’t mistake the spirit world for mental health issues”. Is wasn’t mental health but her sensitivity to the spirit world that Navarro needed to accept.
I am going to miss these discussions on this season. 2nd thought. I wondered also about things going down like the revenge party described because what if the scientist did not die like Clark. But who could they tell without telling why? I think that is why even though he survived Clark knew that the people knew what the Lab was doing and that they were pushing the contamination. Also this is my story. When the cleaning ladies discovered the secret ice cave lab and found the murder weapon, apparently Clark does not throw anything away, they discovered Annie Ks tongue that Clark had removed and kept. Clark did not reveal that he strangled Annie so not mentioning that he had kept her tongue was no big detail to withhold. While the ladies looked for evidence that the lab was behind Annie’s murder they found the tongue. When they cleaned before their attack they conveniently left the tongue to let the men know that SHE was going to get them. Maybe that is what Clark saw that made him freak out saying that SHE is alive. Then SHE got them, through the revenge club. But that is just my story and “stories are stories.” Thanks to you all for a lot of fun in the discussions.
I think it’s the western eye that is cut out because by the end of the show, Danvers sees more with the indigenous eye, because she now believes that something spiritual is going on in the town because she opens up when she asks what Holden said and then Navarro is standing next to her at the end, so by removing Danver’s ‘western eye’ she can now see more clearly through the indigenous perspective and beliefs.
You always have great comments and I totally love your observation on this! Definitely think you are right! This is the best explanation for the missing eye for sure.
@@kiznbelle thank you! ❤️ Navarro also covers Danvers’ eyes when she’s finally telling her what Holden said! Covering her western eye and helping her to see through the indigenous one!
So, we finally find out what Blair has to do with everything and then Navarro's real name! Holden's polar bear, the orange, the beatles song, Navarro's mom necklace are very interesting elements Thank you very much for your reviews! 🙏✨ Also Constellation is in my list to watch 🚀👽
My first thought at the ending scene was Navarro finally answered the call she was hearing and walked out onto the ice effectively committing suicide like her sister but while being at peace with doing it, and that is her spirit on the porch with Danvers. Issa has already indicated that is a possibility that is "open to interpretation".
I like that we don’t get a concrete answer for the supernatural stuff because anything supernatural or spiritual like that is down to individual beliefs, so it’s left up for interpretation by the viewer 😊 though with Danvers believing by the end then I think it suggests that maybe we should too 😊 but still, up for each viewer to come to their own conclusions!
I probably would have really liked this season if it was just called "The Night Country' and it wasn't part of the True Detective series. All of the callbacks to season 1 of TD fell so flat in the end, and added nothing to this story. the acting was really good during many of the scenes. The message the writer wanted to convey was loud and clear. But as a detective show, it was so bad that it was comical at times. I literally laughed out loud during several of the scenes in the finale, and they were not meant to be funny lol. You guys do a great job. Happy I found you.
Oh no, I think Navarro is dead, I think it was her spirit at the end because it’s as Denver’s is saying about people in that down never really leave (i.e. the dead remain)
I hope Issa Lopez never gets a job in Hollywood again! What garbage! And why did the caribou kill themselves in episode 1?! How are they connected to the story if at all and why show them? Hello, Issa?! An explanation please!! 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️👎🏿
It's all open interpretation lmao it could have been soo good and she fucked it up I got no clear answers on anything. Like even the video of Annie recording being killed is not even how it happened lol not clear on the tongue not clear on all the carcosa shit and dolls...just wasted potential ...sad
@@danielglooover - at least novellas have hot chicks. There weren’t any good looking women in this show at all! Hell, even in season 1 they delivered with Dadario’s perfect, beautiful boobs. 😍🫡
I liked the finale. I also think it was really cool that a lot of the things that were predicted in the comments on the live stream happened in the finale. I had no clue what was going to happen so I was not a great detective on this show lol.
Oh that was bullet he removed!?? 🤣I just couldn't see what it was....looked like a piece of bubblegum stuck to the door frame 🤣Actually it looks like a tooth now that I paused it!
The dam elusive cave is a stone throw away from the lab is comical. Who is writing this? The show is utter garbage! There are so many plot holes. Lazy writing. The cleaning ladies do more investigating than the actual detectives. All this spiritual crap was all filler. What an awful show. Season 2 called and is happy that Season 4 is now the worst season of TD.

Yea I have to agree, while I enjoyed it there were way too many unanswered questions. This should have been 10 episodes and more fleshed out.
@@mattlombardi54 not one single story line was allowed a reasonable resolution.
OMG. I laughed when they fell through ice. I thought I was the only one. 😂
One of the WORST season finales in television history, it was LAUGH OUT LOUD BAD, and that’s being NICE
It's the worse I've ever seen. This show's finale took stupidity to a whole'nother level I didn't know existed.

there is no meaning, nothing in this entire season of true detective has any coherent thought or meaning.
It’s not dark until May 12th, that’s when the long day begins, when the sun doesn’t fully disappear for weeks on end.
