  • LIFE HISTORY OF THE LATE ARAP MAINEK
    The late Morris Mainek was born in 1937,he was the son of late Kenduiywa arap Tamoge and late Taplelei Tamoge At Nyambugo village ,Nyangores ward in Bomet county
    He was brother to:Tapsabei Siongok,Late Tabnyobi Bett,Elizabeth Mtafta,Late Christine(Taprorot),Francis Mainek, and late Samwel Mainek
    Husband to:late Tapnyobi Mainek and Obot Jospiner Mainek
    Father in-law to:Emmily,Janeth,Felister and Nelly Mainek
    He underwent initiation in 1954 immediately after he dropped out of school
    MARRIAGE
    The late Morris got married to late Tapnyobi (Bot Joshua )In 1956 as his first wife and later got married to Grace Mainek (Obot Jospiner ) as second wife and was blessed with the following children:-
    Late Joshua,Johnstone,Jospiner,Paul,Christine,Jennifer and Janeth
    EARLY LIFE
    The late Mainek once worked in Kenya highland as teaplucker and security guard .He was also an active farmer
    MUSIC CAREER
    The late ventured into music industry around 1956 where he sang with late Kipchamba Arap Tabotuk,Oriango and Chemirei .Their songs were educative and informative , Morris Arap Mainek is a celebrated musician known for his contributions to the Kalenjin music scene, particularly in the 1960s. His songs include Kapkulumben Dip,Kisoe Jehova,Kas ilongunke ,sikuku Kapmoris among others. He is recognized for his unique style, which is often referred to as the "Kalenjin Twist." His music has been a significant part of the cultural tapestry of the Kalenjin people, reflecting their history, traditions, and the evolution of their musical expression While there is limited information available about his personal life history, Morris Arap Mainek's legacy lives on through his music and the impact it has had on the Kalenjin community and beyond. His work remains an important part of the Kalenjin cultural heritage, celebrated and enjoyed by many .
    CHRISTIAN LIFE
    He was baptized at Segemik Catholic church in 2021 where he worshiped till his demised
    HEALTH AND TREATMENT
    The late enjoyed good health until 27th August 2023 where he complained of unusual swallowing .He was taken to Joygab clinic -Kapkwen where he was treated and discharged .Later in December he became unwell and was taken to Tenwek Hospital,CT scan was done and it was found that he had throat cancer,he was to be given a “stent tube” but doctors found out that the disease had spead through laryxzone and on its last stage(stage 5) he was discharged ,he further seek medication from various doctors including herbs.His health never improved and he developed difficulty in swallowing any solid food nor drink any fluids.On 16 th February he was taken to Longisa Hospital where he was admitted and taken care by doctors ,he was living only with fluid injection,on 8th March he lost his left eye and report from doctors claimed the disease had emerged and tried a way out.He slowly lost his weight and voice .On Thursday 21/3/2024 at around 4am he unfortunately succumed to death . He left behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
